Giving 2 rating to Apollo for its infrastructure and services during the procedure and possibly a “negative rating” for the doctor for her unethical, irresponsiveness and money minded nature. (And, there are enough evidence available to back the above statement when I say this to a doctor and can be produced if this has to be dragged to Apollo management or for any legal proceedings for that matter)20/08 - I went for a consultation first time to Dr Patra. On our first visit it was assessed and advised by the doctor to take me through a Gyno procedure under general anaesthesia.On asking about the potential risk of the procedure and side effects of general anaesthesia, she got annoyed and respond very harshly putting the onus on us about the impact of not undergoing the procedure, instead of explaining us the line of treatment and its impact in a respectful and caring manner. Nevertheless, based on our past experience with Apollo (though it was my first visit to Dr Patra) we trusted and agreed to undergo the procedure on 11/09.11/09- I was admitted to the hospital in the early morning. The procedure was done at around 1 pm and later I was shifted to the normal bed and from their got discharged in the evening on the same day. Post procedure the doctor had confirmed that the required sample was collected and sent for Biopsy report and I was advised to see her along with the report after 7 days.17/09- As advised by the doctor tried contacting her assistant to get her appointment on 25/09 to show the report. Left message on WhatsApp as per the norm told to me and tried calling him as well to get the appointment confirmed. Surprisingly, there was no response from her assistant. On the next day on 18/09 I informed the doctor on her WhatsApp seeking an appointment confirmation as her assistant was not responding. But there was no response from her either. After not getting response back for next couple days I finally I went to an another Gynaecologist just to get the Biopsy report checked to know if the report was alright. The other doctor confirmed that the report was normal and there was nothing to worry.Then on 25/09 evening I shared that same report with Dr Patra on her WhatsApp to check her response, since I didn’t get any response from her and her assistant against my request for her appointment.And the response that I received from Dr Patra was exactly as below, which really surprised me.Please make a payment of fee through Google pay of Rs.700 on this mobile number itself for consultation and share the screenshot to proceed with consultationThis was supposed to be a follow up consultation along with the Biopsy report post the medical procedure done by Dr Patra. It was also supposed to be her responsibility as the doctor who did the medical procedure to complete the treatment cycle by reviewing the report and advice on the result of the test, which was done based on her advice.I was stunned seeing such demand from her on WhatsApp and wondering under what compulsion she might have done this. May be this was her sheer ignorance and avoidance, for a reason which was well known to here or apparently, she wanted to just convert this to her own business for personal earnings and hence both she and her assistant decided not to respond and encourage physical consultation and had instructed her assistant to handle it accordingly to delay and push for personal consultation.In either case this was irresponsive, unethical and dishonest act toward me as a patient of her and a customer of ApolIo.Seems she had forgotten her Hippocratic Oath that she would have (I believe) sworn when became a physician.Anyways, we always respect doctors and believe them like a god to us, whom we trust and expect some empathy and honesty in return. Such exceptional behaviour from a doctor is rare and unfortunate for us and for our society.May God give her little empathy and humanity, so that she could server people more as a doctor than a businessman.

I knew we have found a very good gynaecologist when Dr. Sharmishtha Patra very efficiently cured my recurring UTI in 2019. I didn’t have any problem thereafter. A month back, I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and related complications. I was advised by her to surgically remove the fibroids. Dr. Patra was very positive and confident in her approach and assured me that my reproductive system will remain unaffected. Since there were multiple large fibroids an open abdominal myomectomy was needed. Dr. Patra did a wonderful job and successfully removed all the fibroids. She checked on me post surgery and was very satisfied herself with the surgery which gave me and my husband an immense sense of relief. She also explained us diagrammatically the removal process of the fibroids. I was discharged in 3 days post surgery.In my experience, Dr. Patra is not only the best gynaecologist in Kolkata, but one of the best doctors I have ever come across, and I have known a few. She is calm, methodical and a thorough professional. She listens to the problem and provides best advice. She is firm but fair and always to the point in her consultations. She is available online if needed. She responds to all the queries very politely.I highly recommend her.

But the most important quality of doctor from medical point of view is to respond appropriately when really indicated. This is five long years to be in touch with you for my family. One emergency laparoscopic surgery for ectopic pregnancy with minimal scar and post operative morbidity was offered by you. And finally, we got our golden gift by your golden hands. In covid situation we got restricted daily help and support system after caesarean section. Well even though the 5 star is on the higher side, the poor ratings had 1common point that she is rude in behaviour sometime and money monger. I felt the rudeness is relative and depends on the stress level but for fees 700INR I see as standard fees for any Apollo doctors offering consultancy other than Apollo site, though it is bit higher for many common people but there is no compulsion that you have to go to her only.Again going by the negative reviews not every reviews can be faked. I was just researching on your profile madam since I was planning to visit for my wife but now bit skeptical. One of the rudest doctors, i have ever come across with. She wouldnt give a litte time to ask questions but will focus on her productivity of her more turnaround of patients per hour. She would be fixated with some special diagnostic centers only and if you would have gone somewhere else, she would be very furious and angry. Never talk with patients and guide them it never felt like a consultation.There are many other bad experiences also which i wouldve gone on to share but I would rather not waste time. My advice to the doctor also would be to be more polite and converse with patient rather than spending more time on replying to reviews and building traffic thru internet or thru the e-medium. If the services is not good then traffic can never be sustainable and long-term.

Firstly I would like to thank Dr. Patra for her consultation during my wifes pregnancy and successfully performing cesarean delivery. My wife was under Dr. Patra from day 1 and we both are very thankful to her. Dr. Rishavdeb Patra is an extremely good Pediatric Surgeon. We got his reference by searching in google and feel really fortunate for this. We have a 3 and half month baby girl and she had inguinal hernia. Dr. Patra had suggested to perform surgery to cure the problem and she went through the surgery under him at Columbia Asia Hospital for two hours. The operation was extremely successful. We are really thankful to Dr. Patra in the whole journey with his guidance, counselling and expertise to clarify the process, risk and the required care that needs to be taken to cure the problem. When a doctor behaves politely with a patient, the patient feels half cured. So it is expected from a good doctor to understand the patient, to listen her, to feel her and to show her care. Dr Sharmishtha Patra maybe a good doctor but she must change the way of encountering a patient.

She is a good doctor. My baby has seen her first sun only because of her. Although she is Strictly professional. For any urgency, when I would call her in the morning she replied back after evening. She never visited to see my wife atleast one time even after delivery, it was really undesirable from Apollo as well as from Dr S. Patra.Few things are truly good but few are not at all expected.

I will not suggest her to go with her. She just begins with lot of test and test and then test. She totally disappointed us with lot of issues and asked that low AMH is a problem and started Follic Acid bit in few months understood that she is not taking it seriously and playing with us. After that we went to another reputed doctor, this new doctor motivated my wife and gave few medicines and now she is completely OK. Then I come to know that I consulated wrong doctor earlier. May be she is good but she didnt take it seriously.

I got my baby delivered under Dr Sarmishtha Patra. I had an awesome experience. She was very much approachable for all my queries during my entire pregnancy tenure. Dr Sharmishtha Patra is an excellent doctor. All the negative reviews written against her are fake reviews to defame her. She is not at all money minded as told in these fake reviews. In fact she gave discount from her surgeon fees in one of my relative who was not affording. I strongly recommend Sharmishtha Mam to all. Madam is very ethical in her treatment and will give the right advice to you. She will not do operation unless indicated. I had been under her treatment and got cured by her treatment. She did Laparoscopic Surgery on one my friend’s mother for a large tumor for which other gynecologists advised open surgery and was not confident to do laparoscopically. She is among the very few gynecologist, who goes for normal delivery. Mam you continue to do the good work. GOD is with you.

May be the worst doctor I have ever seen!! I had an fungal infection. I visited to her twice . She even didnt check me.& didnt let me tell properly what my problem was. & 1st at 1st visit provided me the same medication which my previous doctor prescribed me just bcz she didnt listen me properly . & in 2nd visit she gave me some illogical tests . & some medicine which was totally useless to me . & my problem increased more after using that medicine .

Then I went to her on the advice of my allergists Dr. Sujoy Khan and she treated me with special care and even when I was 9 months pregnant , she observed that my baby was not growing in my womb by seeing my baby bump and without any delay she gave all the required test and operated me in emergency. I would never suggest visiting doctor Sharmistha Patra ever. She does not have the patience to listen to anyone’s problems and medical history. She is quite rude too. She turns a blind eye to anyone who wants to share her earlier problems happening on a recurring basis. When we tried sharing our problems, we were asked to keep quiet by the doctor and not mention any of our past incidents which is odd since the problem kept resurfacing and we felt a doctor should know about the frequency of the relapses for proper treatment of the disease. As patients we did not feel comforted by her. On top of everything she asked for Rs.700/-only for suggesting a few blood and urine tests but refused to give any medical opinion on the subject. In summary, visiting dr. Patra is a waste of time and money and considering the fact there are a million gynae doctors with same or better qualifications in the city, it’s best to try your luck elsewhere.

I had Dengue during my second pregnancy and my platelate count came down to 10000 and had high jaundice with many other complications. I was admitted in Apolo Gneleagles Hospital in kolkata under Dr Sharmistha Patra.She delivered my baby by normal delevery in ICU though my first baby was born by caeserian section under another doctor in kolkata earlier. Both I and my baby was saved by Dr Sharmistha patra. she gave us life. My platelate count was too low that I would die if operation would done. So she took the risk of normal delevery and saved our life. She is not only a good doctor but a very good person too.She is very kind hearted. She discussed everything about my health with my husband,personally contacted with another doctors for my health,gave us metal suport. whenever we needed she was there for us. After delevery also she took care for me like a mother.I am very sad after reading the bad reviews about her. How anyone can write such bad comments about such a good person! Myself Shamik and my wife, Somalika are blessed to have such an experienced, wonderful and confident doctor. We were blessed with a beautiful and healthy daughter just couple of months back. My wife was treated with Ovarian Cystectomy and many other renouned doctor proposed many other solutions including operations, fertility solutions, painful procedures. We went to few other highly recommended and celebrated doctors who ended in scaring us and at the end wanted us to decide an option. This makes doctor Patra different from others. She gives you a solution and not an option. She asked us to lead a normal life and never rushed us to conceive. Everything happened naturally and the best thing is she never imposed any restrictions after my wife conceived. After 7 months of gestation, the doctor treats every case as high priority and responds ASAP. My wife underwent C Section in 39th week and also underwent cystectomy at the same time. There was no complications and both are leading a very healthy and happening life. I am very thankful to doctor Patra for being so kind to us. She always shows the right direction and never panicks. I visited dr patra during my 15weeks of my 2nd pregnancy and was under her treatment for the rest of my pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby boy via caesarean section...now the most wonderful and amazing part is that i was able to stand on my feet just a couple of hours after my OT...and moreover the healing was wdn few days....she is a wonderful gynaecologist...i had a c section previously as i mentioned ds was my 2nd pregnancy...but first tym the healing was way slower than this tym...and i was able to walk 2days after my OT.... hence i am pretty much thankful to her..she s a goddess to me...she knows magic...may God bless you doctor....stay safe and healthy

Now on 7th May she gave birth to a baby girl in Apollo Greneagles Hospitals, Kolkata.The entire journey with Dr. Patra during this period was awesome. She is so humble, confident and knowledgeable that any patient will feel comfortable under her. My wife told me that she was very worried that what will happen during the caesar but after the caesar she told me that the process was so smoothly done that she not even felt any discomfort.I would strongly recommend Dr.Patra for all whom I know and whom I do not know.Please go ahead and I wish her a very good luck for future.....

Worst doctor I have seen in my life till now. I waited outside her chamber for 3 hours and when my turn came after patient number 22 suddenly a person with her wife whose number had already passed came and she checked her instead of me saying it is not important who is waiting out side my chamber but I will check them whose number is first even if they leave after booking and come back anytime and enter before those who are waiting outside. Th en what is the point of waiting, everybody can book and leave. If this is the case they should receive the money online and give serial numbers. Dont respect peoples time. I had a small kid and my husband took leave from office so that I can see this doctor who has no conscience. Completely unprofessional. Only money minded.

Dr Rishabhdev Patra is an excellent doctor. He is very helpful. As per my experience very few doctors entertain their patients over phone. He supported and guided me over phone, responded in WhatsApp whenever I required help for the treatment of my child.

Extremely rude as I had visited the first time in Apollo. I couldnt believe that she actually started shouting. A health advisor instead of giving me a word of comfort statred making personal comments and frowned. Horrific experience at #Apollo. Thankfully there are other doctors.

WORST doctor I have seen till date. Misguiding patients for money. She told me to undergo a c-section cut to remove my uterine fibroid but I have consulted 3 other doctors who said operation was not necessary at all.Moreover, she told me that c-section cut will be cured in 3 weeks whereas it actually takes more than 2 months. She didnt tell me any pros n cons of the surgery but was constantly insisting to get admitted to apollo to have the surgery ASAP. Money sucking mentality. Be aware guys...

I dont know how to express my gratitude towards Dr. Sharmishtha patra for what she has done for me.As it is believed that Doctors are 2nd god on earth, this proverb best suited to her. Now a days most of the doctors runs business houses in the name of their profession but she never cares for money. Her patients are most important to her. She behaves like best friend, sister , mother while listening to problems of her patients.I cant forget that day in year 2012 when i came to her in very very serious condition. One of my fallopian tube ruptured and because i didnt had idea , i spent almost 2 hrs in my office in taking rest. That time i didnt know anything about her, i had taken her number from just dial. My husband was all alone and no one was here to help us. And as a doctor her responsibility was only to save my life, but she had taken my all responsibility and helped us like family member.My problems not ended there only. Again i was fighting for a baby and because of my complications it was almost impossible for me to become a mother. But thank to god for such a nice Dr. in my life, her confidence, expertise in her field and kind nature all worked and last week i gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.Apart from a good doctor she is a good human being also. She patiently handled my case from last 6 years. she is the best doctor i have ever met.Thank u so much maam for your help. I can never forget what you have done for me.

Dr. Sharmistha Patra in her first look - looks very rude and arrogant....But the straight forward words coming of her mouth gives a huge confidence to her patients... She was the last person who told me nothing to worry about BV during the first pregnancy of my wife. I was quite bit relaxed with Dr. Patras advises. Yes she is so busy that she cant picked up phone call always but she always replies the sms / wats app msgs regarding any problem of her patients during her treatment period. Overall as a professional & caring doctor, I will give her 10 on 10....

My two deliveries were processed under her supervision and I just want to say that it was really good to be treated with professionalism. It made me feel that I was in safe hands.

Dr forgets to give test on time. I missed the first trimester test because Dr prescribed it much later. Not sure what responsibility doctor carries while treating her patients. Not satisfied at all.Hope she will be more careful while treating her patients going forward.

Dr. Rishavdevb Patra is an extremely competent surgeon and a very caring human being. We have a six months old baby and he had inguinal hernia. Unfortunately hernia has no cure but surgical operation. We were very worried as it was just a small baby and then we got Dr. Patras contact from one of our relatives. He did the surgery to fix the hernia and our baby is doing very good now. So a big thank you to Dr. Rishavdeb Patra and I would strongly recommend him to all parents for any surgical operation for their child.

I have visited Dr. Sharmistha Patra many times at her clinic in Saltlake during my wifes pregnancy and at Apollo for delivery of my child. We were under her guidance throughout pregnancy and never had any issues or complaints. We wanted a Normal delivery and she guides us through it (at Apollo).

Can I rate her with - ve number?I had selected her by checking the review in Practo.. but I doubt whether she has any medical knowledge or not.. firstly, her total experience varies in different medical websites..(in Practo it is 20 + yrs.. in Apollo site, it is 12 + yrs).. She failed to diagnose the issue with my wifes tumor and suggested incorrect treatment. I will write a review in practo soon with a scanned copy of the prescription.Folks, please avoid her by all means.

I would NEVER EVER recommend her to anyone I know - below I am trying to explain whyMe and my wife are in our mid thirties and we r expecting our first child this September. We started visiting Dr S Patra from January. There were no complications in my wifes pregnancy till now and so honestly there was not much to do for a doctor of her merits. Also she is not at all like other greedy doctors we hear about nowadays who are totally insensitive to the money spent by the patients family.But even after that I am writing such a harsh review against such a renowned and well accomplished doctor is because of the cold and insensitive treatment we have received from her since day 1.I know for her we are just another would be parent but for us it is most probably the most important incident of our lives and instead of the guidance and constant encouragement we would have expected from her during this period, all we have received is very cold and at times even unprofessional behavior.I believe it is normal for a pregnant woman to be constantly worried about her would be child and a doctor should help her overcome that fear instead of passing some thoroughly discouraging comments and increase her fear threefold. Being professional does never imply being rude and insensitive to other peoples feelings. On one occasion, my wife was suffering from a burning sensation in her hand which was increasing with time and as per Dr Patras instructions, my wife could not take any medicine to alleviate her pain without her approval; so I tried to reach her but neither did she listen to anything when I called her up nor did she show the minimum courtesy and decency to reply to my desperate message asking for her opinion. I was feeling so helpless that night that I decided whatever happens I would never ever consult her.

A very good .Gynaecologist & Obstetrician. My wife had a let pregnancy , so we were frightened about the health of the foetus. But, she gave us assurance and prescribed a few blood tests in order to be sure whether there was any genetic disorder of the foetus. It helped us a lot to make sure that the baby is normal.
