He is an experienced and well known Pediatric in Kolkata.. He probably have cured countless and generation of Children ranging New Born to Teenagers. And I have my deepest regard for such a veteran doctor who still allocates his time to heal ailing kids... However my recent visit to his Clinic at Dumdum left a bit baffled and to some extent frustrated. I am listing down some of the accounts which I think the Doctor and the Clinic (Sweety clinic) Management should reconsider.1. When inquired I was told, Doctor would arrive at 10 Am (which he did), but we have to register the Patients name as early as possible,, which meant - as early as 7.30 AM, as Doctor would check only 8 patients a day. It was understandable since due to old age Doctor probably have health concern. But what was confusing that the enlisting of the patient name will be successful only if the patient (even if its a two month old baby). I spoke to one gentleman with a new born baby who came as early as 6.30 AM in the morning and had his name listed second. He was waiting for close to four hours in the clinic for his babys checkup. Unbelievable!! At least the patient waiting area is air conditioned, which is big thumb up.2. Doctors visit is Rs. 500. Which is quite fair given his vast experience and well maintained clinic atmosphere. but when I asked for a receipt; the receptionist informed that would be provided for an extra 100 Rupees. I could not fathom and I asked the reason for this extra Rs 100. And the reply was it is as it is.Dear Doctor, will you care to answer it, as your receptionist has no clue?3. When inquired about the Reporting time/schedule with the lab reports, the receptionist informed only two reporting is possible in each day and the fee would be another Rs. 100.As far my experience go I was never charged over a regular consultation fee in my life for for Doctor to check the report within a specified (limited) days.I had a feeling that there was more monetary aspects and irrelevant protocol involved in the consultation than it should have been.BTW: there was only 5 patients the day I took my baby for the check up and only 4 the previous day when we enquired.
