Trams represent the traditional Calcutta. These trams are departed from various depots and out of these depots one of the most important depot is Kalighat Tram Depot. The Kalighat tram depot of Calcutta tramways company is situated on Shayma Prasad Mukherjee Road a few metres apart from Greek Orthodox Church. Trams from various places arrive and departed from here, and maintenance of these heritage of Calcutta are also done here. Trams are now specially available for Ballygunge and Tollygunge. Departure of Trams for khidirpur and Esplanade are cancelled due to some problems.

The Kalighat Tram Depot of CTC is currently unused for passenger based tram services, only in rare cases are Kalighat-Ballygunge services found. This depot could be an ideal spot for the foundation of a Tram Museum in Kolkata.

Its an awesome place and the serenity of it makes you stare it. Although it is a bit sloppy and not well maintained but the street arts make it good
