Nice palace and great school

The school has discouraged students who didnt fit their criteria of good student, made them feel inferior and made sure they will be bullied not only by students but also by teachers. The teachers only give attention to students who, for a lack of better word, are teachers pet. The management is the worst, they dont know how to discipline. Their disciplinary methods have put students in such states that they have to go to therapy in their adulthood. They will make you feel marks are everything and will strip away your humanity. If you want your child to suffer from depression with a 70% 10th board certificate (which no one will ever ask for in their life), then go ahead, join VMS. Best school ever.

Studied in this school,even thirty years back only so called good students ,the blue eyed ones, used to get all the attention and care of the teachers, and students who were weaker in studies and actually needed more care were left on their own,as if they are untouchables,the left overs.The blue eyed ones would always get chance to take part in activities that are not even related to academics like drama ,exhibition presentations etc,even if they are are not good at it.The untouchables ,left overs who actually might be good were still left out from this non academic competitions/extra curricular participations.From other reviews it seems the school still carries the same legacy.This attitude of teachers towards the weaker students,gradually rips the students of self confidence,and the student starts believing that some thing is wrong with him,with his parents,the eco system around him,and thus gradually depression will engulf him.His entire child hood,adolescence will lost in darkness.The child will start hating himself,will not enjoy his growing up.If the student is lucky enough he may gradually come out of it and will fair well in life,may be better than some of the good students who got all the care, but it will leave a deep scar in the mind when it comes to school memories.The over dose of discipline that is taught might help the child to face the bigger world in future,this is the only pros of this school.As far teaching staffs are concerned,freshers who have just completed the masters,and probably B.Ed are recruited.Once they gain experience they leave,another legacy that is continuing, now that SSC is not happening the attrition is less,but generally the trend is same.Also since the salaries paid are much less than market standards,most teachers are into private tution( just for survival),another evil of the education system.Students who take private tutions are ensured of better internals even in boards.If other schools are affordable one may definitely go for other schools.

This school is not as bad as said by certain people.Prior I was too in the delusion of thinking this is the worst school ever.However,after shifting to a new school I am realising its a way superior school compared to most schools in kolkata.

The best thing about this school is that it creates an environment of proper education. The quality of teaching is good, but it is slowly degrading as the years go by. In a nutshell, from an academic point of view, it is probably one of the best schools in Kolkata. However, this is certainly not the place where your child will enjoy a proper degree of freedom. Some teachers are very strict when it comes to discipline and appearance (more often than not, unnecessarily). Most teachers only care about the students marks in ICSE, ISC (NOT competitive exams, they discourage you to prepare for competitive exams and want you to focus only on boards). They dont care about what happens after that, they just want to produce toppers in boards exams. Connecting with the students on an emotional level is something this school severely lacks. Not to forget, every teacher is different, and some of them really care. Although this is a co-ed school, it is only nominally so. Its more like a boys school where girls are allowed to attend classes as well. Till class 10, you will get all sorts of looks from teachers roaming around if you talk with people of the opposite gender. Theyll come to you and ask What are you doing?,and eventually ask you to stop talking. Also when something happens which go against the rules and regulations of the school, boys get away with a warning. But sadly its not the same for girls, as they are harassed unnecessarily. If you have a son, you can definitely send him to this school. If you have a daughter, you might want to think twice (if you care about her emotional well-being that is).

VMS is one of the best ICSE schools in Kolkata. As an ex-student , I really do feel that it is not only a school but a Paradise of Knowledge.The Quality of Education is appreciable.Moreover The Teachers are always there to assist you..

Reading here since class 1 has indeed been a blissful experience. Now as a senior student of class 11, I attribute my success to my teachers , to whom my entire entity would remain beholden.

My school is the best. Actually our school is the most well developed school in behala.Whoever thinks vms is bad is very wrong in the first place. Just see in the bright side of the school. Very bad behaviours of Principal with parents, she thinks that she is almighty of School. This school only produce the topper in some examination but not the great/innovative mind due to school bad rule and regulation against the children. They will make your child as the skill labour.

Vivekananda Mission School Joka, is an awesome place. It is affiliated to CISCE. This means in class 10 a candidate will appear for ICSE exam and in class 12, the candidate will appear for ISC exam. Its main motto is Man Making Education System.This school follows Swami Vivekananda as an idealist. His teachings and lessons are imbibed into the students.The laboratories in this school are awesome and well maintained. There are two computer labs, two Chemistry lab and one Physics lab. There is a biology lab.The quality of education that is being imparted to the students here is nice. This school always keeps itself up to date with latest state-of-art equipments. Teachers here are well educated and their process or methodology of imparting education is awesome.Few years back it has opened a new building towards Pailan. That is mainly for the morning section students.In this school there is a class called Transition. This class comes after Nursery 1 and Nursey 2. After passing out Transition unlike other schools, a students gets admitted to class 1.Nowadays students need not have to go for private tuition outside. After the school is over, those who are interested for special guidance have extra classes after school is over.This school also prepares students to face National Level and International Level Olympiads.

Being an ex student of this institution I can declare this school as a different world mastering at man making education. Even the most weak student of this school is prepared to lead in every field. Undoubtedly this school is very strict and dicipline being the primary concern the consequences of not following them are harsh but a VMSian will never face problem in its whole future if he or she follows each and everything practically taught in this institution. 2 generations from my family had studied in this school. My children are studying in this school. I have seen it rising from zero to TOP. No matter what other reviews say, this school is one of the best education provider in Kolkata. Many reviewers said they only produce toppers, YES! they indeed produce ICSE & ISC toppers and that needs some discipline & a very well planned education system. It is utter rubbish that VMS do not produce toppers in the career lives. VMS lay a proper foundation for their students to grow in their later lives. They cultivate discipline & hard work in their students. As parent you too need to devot some time for your child/children, so, you know what exactly goes on in school. VMS has its yearly ECHO magazine, where contents from students are published. The school conducts annual cultural functions and annual sports meet. Saying bad words is ones own choice, but keeping good educational track record for years is an acheivement, which VMS is doing right now.

Totally shocked to find out that the son of G Das, a notorious land shark/Behala promoter in the Joka/Bishnupur area attends this school. Is there no screening process? This Mr. Das has destroyed countless families through cheating, violence and other anti-social behaviour. How VMS could accept someone of this stature is shocking. I always thought VMS did not engage in bribe culture of the Kolkata elite schools, but letting criminial-type families into VMS is not done. Shame!
