Quality of education is good as compared to other institutes. But there are few problems as well, they will shift courses at their will and do not cooperate at all. Administration is worst, if compared to other institutes.

Here one can get their medical examination done by a DG Shipping Approved doctor for joining a ship or for addmission in a marine college. A bit difficult to reach, on the outskirts of the city. Near by ATM is atleast a KM away and they dont accept online payment. So carry cash if you are coming for a medical or anything else.

The person attending the call is really rude and unhelpful.. Ive been trying to get updates to take up STCW course but hed either cut the call before I complete my enquiry or ask me to call back after this or that date... And I cant even understand what he speaks sometimes

Hoon Maritime Institute is how an maritime training institute in envisaged. The infrastructure is perfect. The faculty dedicated. Most importantly they are a one stop solution for all the courses. One doesnt have to run around for getting different courses in different places. The competency courses are better than anywhere in India and the faculty for the same par excellence.

Nice place, a little off the beaten track. It is very easy to miss their placard on the Taratala Road. If travelling by car, keep to the extreme left lane and watch for the direction placard after Vesuvius industry

I am going to give a very honest, as it is review of this place. I have been coming here for sometime now and i had most of my courses done from here but recently my experience was terrible. I was told that my courses will be done in a month, trusting the institute, i paid them in full. First two courses were done pretty quickly without any issues, things started to get ugly when it was time for the third one. I wasnt assigned to any batch and the contact persons phone was either busy or he didnt pick up which was frustrating in itself. After trying for a week, i straight away called the director of the institute (whose number was displayed in their institute itself), a senior staff picked up the phone and was terribly rude for no apparent reason. Rather than giving me a solution, he constantly accused me of bullying them where i was the one being bullied. My reason for not coming here again is the behaviour of this institution and the way bookings are done here.

I wish there was a 0 star here so I could click on that,As lockdown had opened no Institute were taking advance bookings only hoon was so that was normal everyone started booking here and in November 2020 they had scheduled bookings till June 2021.Well that was youre business idea but the thing is you took undue advantage of students you had taken bookings and not giving them courses on time and delaying them as they cannot even backoutbecause you would be charging them 25% of course fees and if package booking then no refund.So I along with few of my batchmates were struck here and its April 2021 now I have completed my booked courses which was scheduled in January.I request all to please consider all this before bookings courses in this institution.*Do not do GMDSS course from here *

Wow. It was amazing to be there. The staff and the arrangements both were charming. The doctors were punctual. Thanks all for the pleasant behavior and service I expected there. My prejoining Medical exam was smooth and I am happy. Down inside the eating hall I could have a standard lunch only for a minimal charge. Only the location was not satisfactory. It is a little bit remote from main Calcutta. Rest all nice.
