My Department , My College , My teachers .. such beautiful memories with the most cordial Teachers and Non teaching Staff. I absolutely love going to my department. It is a blessing to get such teachers. I wish people love library science more. It is a growing subject.

This is the Department of Library and Information Science of University of Calcutta .Its in the 4th floor of Ashutosh Building . In 1943 the Inter University Board of India resolved that only graduates of any stream would be eligible for admission to the librarianship courses conducted by the Indian Universities. On August 17, 1944 the Syndicate of the University considered the resolutions of the sub-committee to the effect that the University will institute a Diploma Course in Librarianship every year. The department is good now there have BLIS in colleges and only 2 years masters will be on CU campus.

Dept is one of the oldest dept in LIS education. Dept provide all levels course in LIS education. Course curriculum is 100% ICT compliant and updated.
