The Sadharan Brahmo Samaj was formed in a public meeting of Brahmos held in the Town Hall of Calcutta on 15 May 1878 (2nd Jaishta 1284 of the Bengali calendar). A letter from Maharshi Devendranath Tagore communicating his blessings and prayer for the success of the new Samaj was read in the meeting. At the time of its foundation the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj was headed by three men universally esteemed in Brahmo society for their high moral character. They were Ananda Mohan Bose, Sib Nath Shastri and Umesh Chandra Dutta. Of those three Ananda Mohan Bose was the youngest, scarcely more than 31 years at the time, yet he was placed at the head of affairs.

A historical place in Kolkata. There are few buses and trams using which you can come here directly. Also you can get down at College Street crossing or Vivekananda Road bus stop and have a walk from there. It located almost middle of College Street and Vivekananda Road. From these two places Brahmo Samaj is 5 to 7 minutes walking distance.

General Brahmo Samaj. What is the origin of Kolkata, this place is the same. There are very few buses around. If you take the Vivekananda Road straight by the Vidya Parva from the College Street, then many such history will be signed. There are some buses, but if they catch them, they should be deprived of these things when they go on the road, not only this, but also the Javelus of northern Kolkata will be missed.
