The Oceanic at PeerlessInn needs no special mention, one of the premier restaurant in the city. However the experience did not quite justify the expectation this place promises. It started with the confusion on Dineout code, and continued on the disappointing menu spread. We were welcomed with chicken soup and fish croquettes, which was almost without any trace of fish followed by chicken tikka which was cold and bone in, we had to struggle to chew. The welcome drink came quite late in the game after the starters were served. They do have a salad section, the dahi vada tasted good. The buffet menu had - rice, dal, mix veg, palak paneer, grilled fish in lemon garlic sauce, butter chicken with breads and mutton served at the table.Except the paneer, mutton curry which was the star of the show, grilled fish and kulcha rest of the items were commonplace. The dessert segment had RasaMalai, brownie and ice cream. There were some clear winners in the spread, but there were more disappointments which is not expected from PeerlessInn.
Oceanic -By Peerless Inn needs no introduction . The ambiance is spectacular. Its light and airy. It has ample of seating capacity. Due to the pandemic they have made elaborate arrangements to ensure quality service to their customers. Sanitization is done properly at the entrance of the restaurant just to ensure all the safety precautions are maintained.A server is available at the serving counter to serve you food and that ensures less contact .They have a wide range of options to choose from the menu. They have variety of mocktails in the counter to choose from. They are not just delicious but eye catching too.I was pretty disappointed with the starters . There were few items and coleslaw salad . I expected a lot more variety there. The main course however didnt disappoint me.I will highly Recommend- the MUTTON BIRYANI HANDI. It was just lipsmackingly delicious. The mutton was extremely tender and cooked to perfection. The other items on the main course was pretty good and filling. The dessert counter looked like a treasure box. It had wide variety of sweets. From tarts , pie, cupcakes to quintessential gulab jamun , sandesh and misti doi.I thoroughly enjoyed having the sweet dishes. The service could have been better. We had to call the attendant multiple times .Overall my experience has been great.I would recommend everyone to try this buffet out. You wont be disappointed with the legacy that they have maintained for years.
We had planned for a Buffet Night, however didnt find enough good food for the night. Very less items were being displayed too. Secondly a bitter experience faced for the first time, as they were simply misunderstanding the Dineout 1+1 Buffet Offer, wasted almost 30 minutes while talking with the Dineout Customer Care. I would not recommend you guys to go there again, Overall I disliked their manner.
Can be compared amongst the best of two n three stars.
Same food are available at mucher better price, quantity at citys numerous sea-food restros..Test wise OK
Horrible experience. We didnt go for buffet. Al la carte menu had nothing in it. Food quality was decent, taste was.. well.. Uninteresting... Naan and laccha parantha looks same. Not at all economic. For the taste and presentation, the food was very very costly. The waiters were confused. Overall experience is aarghhh..... (in photos guess which is laccha and which is naan) 😂😂Not recommended unless u want to torture someoneThe salad was good though.
We visited the restaurant on Sasti day and opted for Buffet lunch. The spread was elaborate but not very imaginative. The real problem came with the quality of food. The food was not tasty at all. On top of that there was one strand of hair in rice and one dead insect in Malpua. So pls look out for COVID virus in your plate also. However, the only healthy point was there was no crowd inside since we were the only guests throughout the entire dining period.
Wanted to give 0 star for the Oceanic restaurant. The service was pathetic. I went to have dinner buffet with dine out offer. Whole restaurant is run by bunch of interns who dont even know what is offered in buffet menu. When I asked for one of the menu item which didnt have any display name in front of it they simply said they dont know. They were more interested in recording videos which they said they need to send to their higher management. Moreover the live kitchen produced so much smoke that it triggered fire alarm. I was shocked to see such incidents in a 4 star hotel like peerless inn.
Mainly known for its fish recipes. We had dinner buffet at rs 1000/- which was value for money. Dish of squid was worth mentioning.
This is average. For buffet they are offering grilled Squid and fish, thats all for sea food. Ambience is also not good. In Kolkata there are so many places better than this
The lunch buffet had 5 Bengali 3 Chinese and 2 non Bengali main course items, a live shwarma counter and 4 different types of desserts. If you are staying at the hotel you get a discounted price of 750rs inclusive of tax. Now the best buffet in town but our filling and satisfying.
Pathetic restaurant apathetic service. Go there if you want to spoil your mood and occassion. The hotel too seems least bothered about the reputation of this restaurant. We spoiled our mood and the occasion with their worse service.Avoid them like plague. Bakwaas
The ambience is eye-catching! We went for a buffet. The menu is extensive. Apart from a few dishes the rest were delicious!
Worst buffet dinner in the city. Service in not good. All items listed in menu not provided. Service persons only demand tips from the 7.30 pm before providing any starter.
Its the continental restraunt of peerless in. You can buy cheaper buffet vouchers from make my trip site. Their starter and deserts are very good and have a lot of variety but other is ok ok. I would definately recommend
The only thing here is good is the ambience and hospitality. Rest is waste of money. Food is below the average, I cant explain how much bad it was!if you want to go there for food and alcohol just dont waste your money and time.
The place is really nice and upscale. The thali costs around 1800 INR but it was all worth it. There is love music playing, when we visited it was classical music going on. The food was really nice, I guess authentic bengali food.
Very Bad and poor service. Food quality not so good.
The most eye catching was the behaviour of the staffs apart from the food and variety they served. The fish cutlets to the veg spring roll in starter was an amazing start. I loved the fish Paturi and Garlic butter prawns. The Orange Lamington, Kiwi Mousse and the Marzipan pops in the desert left a sweet smileon this mother-daughter duo face. Gondhoraj Ghol was a surprise to my taste buds, which is a must try.The rain that stained the glass at the back, was a cherry on top of our day at this restaurant.
Very less starters options..the staff is not prompt..the taste and ambience is below average..
The buffet is very poor as compared to BBQ nation or Flame & Grills etc. There is no variety of foods. Even there is no ice cream in the dessert. And you have to knock them again and again to get the non-veg starters. Not worth the money.
Nice food, but nothing Extraordinary.
Very few dishes in buffet. Taste also not upto the mark. Doesnt deserve a 5star buffet tag at all.
Perfect ambience and great food
Highly NOT recommended. We went for a lunch buffet and was extremely disappointed. The buffet menu in dineout app says, there will be 5 nonveg starters. There was only 1! One had to go to the live counter to order that and, they were taking forever to serve that. The main course was okayish. Thai fish in the main course was the best item in the entire menu. When it came to dessert, disappointed again! There was no icecream, only some okayish brownie and pastry. They were serving a vanilla milkshake (probably). It couldnt be any more dilute!😂We got some offer on dineout of ₹790/- per head. Otherwise, it costs probably 1.4k-1.5k per head. It is EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. I REPEAT, EXTREMELY OVERPRICED.
Great hotel.must visit if you are passing by.Great taste and variery of cusine. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing.
The restaurant smells greesy. Everything is oily, tastes substandard. The staffs are not professional and dont know etiquette. Breakfast is the worst. No healthy food like porridge, but fried stuff.
This is the multi cuisine restaurant. The service is very good and staff behavior is like family.
Buffet menu...Food as well as service are not up to the mark.. does not serve to the goodwill of peerless inn...Not at all recommended
Buffet had a huge spread.the dessert menu was awesome
Ok.fine to dine woth.but rate could be much cheaper
Pls try dessert the best one is Baked Rossogulla
Usual five star hotel food.
The quality of the food is not what you think it will be. We ordered special non veg thali that comes with a piece of hilsa fish. It turned out that the fish was cold and dry and they refused to change it.
This is an alacarte as well a occasional buffet place in Peerless Inn,Kolkata. The sea food here is excellent, and the live counters are very exciting. But the bengali food counters are more preferred.Service is ok.
Good food at reasonable price.
It really good staff are very nice
Good sea food and healthy as well
I visited the place few days back to have dinner buffet. The options in buffet was very less and the food was not upto the mark. Though it is a fine dining restaurant, the service is very slow and non responsive. The waiters are not even well groomed as compared to other fine dinings in kolkata
Delicious food.. but pricey
Just very Expensive, but with proper quality not quantity.
Peerless food court for Chinese and mughlai food
Excellent food and well service
Nice place.Very good
Really nice rastourent
Good dining experience
Food is OK but menu is very small
Very nice, large variety of buffet menu.
Nothing extra ordinary or special here... Food - Avg....
The buffet spread was good and a bit expensive being a part of The Peerless Inn hotel..Only drawback was with the fish and the chicken preparations not being boneless..the desserts were the best part of the lot..
I dont like

A very bad experience is eating a lunch buffet. The staff first used to be very amateur and slow. The starter gave the pita bread and the dimsum a little cold. I sat down to eat the next meal. How long would it be. The food will go away. The main course is worse, the main course is worse, there is no item of solid fish meat. Eat this piece in any opinion. Sweet items are just a waste of money. It is a waste of money. There is a lot of good buffet left in Kolkata nowadays.
Good
