This rating only applies to my last visit here. Was little disappointed when they said Tofu wasnt available. Steamed Momo seemed dry and they served it without any sauce. Chili Mushroom was really great, so was the Lemon Proper clear soup. They were playing almost appropriate music for an oriental restaurant. Great for family dining. Will I visit again? Definitely YES, and Im sure Ill be able to change my rating.

This is one of the best place within a reasonable budget in Ballygunge area. The ambience is very nice, the staffs are very much courteous and well-behaved, and the food is really delicious. I love mainland China but chowman is a good place too. We had wok fried squid, veg meinfoon, mixed noodles and pineapple vanilla ice cream. Food is delectable but serving time is just too much although the restaurant wasnt that crowded. All in all a good place

This place has always been nice to me but surprisingly their service has detorieted during covid times, and sometimes they even forget to listen to their customers, waiting period is long nowadays, and some food items has even lost their charisma.

The food and the ambience is tooo good. But I have one complain, not about the food or anything. Its just a suggestion for the owner, plz Sir buy a sanitization mattress to sanitize our shoes as well, we were very uncomfortable as the gaurd who is spraying our shoes is much elder than us and its very much uncomfortable for us. Apart from this we love Chowman and recommend everyone to go there.

They have introduced clay pot chicken with mushroom. It has an authentic flavour of cooking in a clay pot. Apart from this U must try pan fried chili fish.

Food was good price is bit in higher side. However compare to the taste it is reasonable. Ambience is grt. They have very high standards of hygiene. During this pandemics they are serving disposal plates and they are changing 25 rupees per person extra. But its worth paying because they sanitise properly. Staff is also good n friendly. Zomato pro memebers can get additional discounts. Overall its a nice experience. As I am a vegetarian, I can say veg food is also equally tastey. Babycorn is a must try dish. They have plenty off non veg options. It is a heaven for non vegetarian. So do give a try.

Wonderful experience at the restaurant. A little cramped for space, yes, and the prices demand slightly more of the wallet, but it runs the gamut in all things chinese and is run by a very cooperative staff.

Food was too good. Staffs are very good, they are professional, honest. We ordered chicken with banana leaf, mixed fried rice, orange chicken, sweet lemon soda. Food was too good. Ambiance was very pleasant specially the background music. Over all it is one of good place to spend time with family and friends.

Good variety Chinese food... overall good customer satisfaction

There are few points which I would like to discuss about this place.1st of all they are maintaining hygiene during this covid situation at the same time they are charging 25₹/person for that so no real credits but they are checking temperature and sanitizing though I havent seen them sanitizing the table. They are giving disposable plates with disposable spoon and fork.Then comes the main point ..it is not at all pocket friendly and is one of the premium chinese restaurants out there. Food quality used to be very good I know that as I have been here previously but that quality is no more. The waiters are very polite but the main part which is food is just above average. I would prefer mainland China or haka before chowman from the next time.I ordered chowmans special noodles and instructed to make the noodles very less spicy but trust me it was very spicy... the chicken fried rice was tasteless though the honey chicken was good and I cant say about meifoon as I didnt have it.Then comes the final part I ordered darsan with vanilla ice cream and there was a bug in one of the pieces of darsan. I saw that clearly and my friend also saw that so we called the waiters and chef to take a good look at that....u will not believe me they just said that its nothing sir its fried oil which became black and took that bug from us. They took me for granted as if I didnt have darsan before. I would have given 1 star but just because they are maintaining hygiene and it used to be a good restaurant Im giving 2. There are lot of other chinese restaurants which may be a little expensive than this one but honestly this restaurant can be avoided.

Food and ambience were good. We had ordered pepper garlic fish, prawn in barbeque sauce (customised for us as was asked), mixed hakka noodles, egg white fried rice, chicken lat mai kai and fish(do not remember the exact name). The pepper garlic fish was the best one, cooked with whole black pepper which added a pleasant flavour and heat. All fish preparations have the option in either basa or bhetki, the later priced a bit higher. All items were fresh and served warm. The servers were courteous and very helpful. Warm lights and soothing instrumentals set the mood for a great dining experience. This outlet is not much spacious though. They are maintaining proper hygiene protocols. Even the menu card is available after scanning the QR code.

5 star experience. Right from staff to ambience to good, everything was top notch. The staff are extremely warm and courteous. Even on one of the busiest days of the year, they were talking to everyone in a very friendly manner. Food was delicious. You can tell that they use top grade ingredients by how you feel few hours after having the food. Would definitely recommend.

Budget friendly.. But great place for non vegetarians

Basically, its kind of a show casing but its null from the inside. We were two people and have ordered Hot Pot Hunan Chicken with Shiitake Mushroom. After we have started eating, we found that there were just 2 pieces of Shiitake mushroom in that plate and full of chicken only. And it was neither a proper Hot pot as we have thought it should be. We have also ordered Shanghai Noodles (Mixed) and we didnt find anything special about that dish - rather its just the ordinary noodles available at any restaurant

But this time I tried some of the dishes from their Oriental Duck Festival Menu which is going to be available till 14.01.2020 in all branches...About this particular outlet it need to mention that the place is small... But extremely well decorated... And I want to mention Mr. Kaushik... People from the hospitality industry need to learn how to welcome your guests and provide a top notch service... The people under him are very well trained and doing an outstanding job...I must recommend some dishes from the Special Menu...From the Starters:1. Duck Meat Noodles Soup: The exotic soup was full of veggies, rice noodles along with duck meat in a hot broth with a hint of seasoning... Making it a perfect dish to start your culinary journey of the Duck Festival...2. Aromatic Roasted Asian Duck: Here the combination of garlic, celery, wine, butter and five spice powder creates an magic of flavours and this is a perfect dish for those who like mild flavours food...3. Recently visited chowman. But not impressed with the food quality. The lamb was pathetic. Quality was not good this time. Pan Fried Veg Noodles was very bad.

Coming over to food, it is undoubtedly among one of the best Chinese restaurants in Kolkata. The quality of food is so good over here. The staffs are really very informative and so much professional, they will eagerly tell you which dish goes well with rice or noodles. We ordered Pan fried Chilli Chicken Dry as a starter which was lip smacking, in the main course we ordered Mixed rice and Chilli Wine Fish which we found a bit light as expected. Pocket pinch is okay as per the quality and quantity provided. Planning to visit again.

Had a bad experience at Chowman , the stuarts were rushing the orders as if they all had a train to catch. Nevertheless the food was good.P.S. Do not try the fried honey wanton.

This is not the first time Ive visited this place. However, this was the first time when I had to encounter a bad experience. One of the waiters has asked us to order for the main course when we had ordered three starters!!! Reason: theres a queue outside. I still understand this to some extent. However, the behavior of other waiters werent up to the mark, they seemed irritated. One of my worst experiences here!!!

I had ordered a Sezwan hakka veg noodle for dinner today along with some other dishes.The noodle what we had recieved was full of sand like small particles and in every bite it was coming in mouth .it was feeling like we are having some food mixed with dust/ sand.We ordered it through swiggy, and when I complained on restaurant they siad they cant do anything as we had ordered through swiggy. . When I said it was full of dust or sand; the person ( very hesitantly he said his name Rohan Dutta) at the other end said its the original taste and they cant do anything with food. They refused to understand the problem or provide any solution. They only said they cant do anything.This is utterly horrible as this was a birthday dinner and we are left with no food.

I ordered veg wok tossed Hakka noodles , veg coriander burnt garlic rice , mixed veg in Kung pao style and crispy chilli baby corn. We eat vegetarian . And received a piece of chicken in our chowmein. By then my mom who is a strict Jain had consumed the chowmein. Utter disappointment. We want full compensation. This is a matter of faith and religion.

Was a very bad experience.. Had heard great things so wanted to try.. But it was so bad... Had to wait an hour between the appetizer and the main course.. The staff excuses were lame.. And the serving was also not good.. The good was mediocre at best.. The noodles were like street food no seasoning and very less ingredients.. Overall a very poor performance from such a reputed brand
