Eastern Railway Head Quarter building is a heritage building of Kolkata. Its situated besides RBI, Kolkata. wiki describes about Eastern Railway as,The Eastern Railway (abbreviated ER and পূর্ব, पूरे / पूर्व) is among the 18 zones of the Indian Railway. Its headquarters is at Fairley Place, Kolkata and comprises four divisions: Howrah, Malda, Sealdah, and Asansol. Each division is headed by a Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). The name of the division denotes the name of the city where the divisional headquarters is located. Eastern Railway Consists Most no. of A1 and A Category Stations like Howrah, Sealdah, Bhagalpur, Asansol, Durgapur etc. Eastern Railways operates one of the oldest trains of India, Kalka Mail. 3 Popular Zones ECR, SER (again from SER-ECOR and SECR carved out in 2003) NFR were part of ER before.
This is HQ of Eastern Railway. I am working here.
A fantastic heritage building that looks out of place with massive crowd waiting to buy train tickets and reservations. Desk for foreigners is available. Railway authorities have concern for managing the crowd or to provide some comfort for them. There is no information board available hence a person waiting for long for reserving a train ticket can feel frustrated to know that his desired ticket is not available. The service can be improved and online ticket reservations should be encouraged.
Train ticket can be reserved here. Desk for foreigners is available. Crowd of people is the biggest issue. Authority has no or very little concern for managing the crowd. Thats why people and officers suffer a lot. There is no information board available. So a person waiting for long time for reserving a train ticket can know that his desired ticket is not available. He didnt have to wait for long time if could known that the desired ticket is not available. The service should be improved by online ticket reservation facility.
Its well maintained and heritage building
😶
Its the headquarters of Eastern Railway. It is an old important heritage building in a neat and clean atmosphere. The building is well maintained with strict discipline and security. Staffs are courteous, dutiful and cooperative towards public in general.
If you are a foreigner like myself this is where you can get train tickets on the foreigner quota. There is a few places people queue so just ask where foreigners go and they will direct you.How it works is you go in and they hand you a form to fill in; on that form is a number which you wait to be called. I arrived a few minutes after opening, at 9am, and was 26 in queue. It took around 2 hours to be called. You can leave and comeback if you estimate it will take a while. The staff seemed kinda agitated and angry at those ahead of me but on my turn they were very pleasant and got me a train that I wanted to Darjeeling. As long as they get to see you there should be enough always enough on foreign quota.
Eastern Railway Headquarters is situated in B.B.D Bagh area of Kolkata. The office is housed in a large building with its two ends on Netaji Subhash Road and Strand Road.
They provided PAN Card services along with financial facilities. Staffs are cooperative and helpful.
Worst service ever experienced. The section that sells ticket for foreigners, specially for Maitree and Bandhan express are disgusting. The counter starts at 10 am. But customers have to get a line for a stupid form to get a serial number early morning around at 6 am! Because the sellers will gossip, eat, make fun and behave rude to customers and take long time. As they cant sell tickets to all the customers, they refuse to give form to them, so that they dont have to work hard and long. Yesterday was Sunday, I went at 11:30 am and they refused to give me the form as well as ticket, even though they are supposed to be open till 2 pm on that day. These people should be punished and taken under control.
Nice place and good people over there. That head quarter is very old may be build by British. But still standing and improving.

Ticket counter for foreignersThe entrance is very difficult to understand.20190620 As we are doing exterior wall construction and there is no signboard now, we can not tell immediately whether it is good or not here that shutter is half.Note: The large gate of the photos posted by others is not the entrance. It is said that it is a window to go to Bangladesh on the left side and the right cornerThere was an application form at the right end of the counter on the right side corner. If you write only where you understand, you will be politely told in an angry tone. You need a photo of your passport and a copy of the entry stamp and visa page. The copy shop is at the corner of the building on the right side opposite to the road.It was 5 rupees because the copy was put together in 1 sheet. It took about an hour and a half because it was crowded, but since the chairs and the air conditioning are working well, lets spend while reading in the guidebook. It is more efficient to pay a fee at a travel agent, but it is recommended for those who experience the pleasure of traveling.Every time good!If you find it helpful, I would like a nice button. It encourages posting.
