Need to have Netaji Smarak...All real & hidden story should be un-fold. Real revolution was brought by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Situated besides the river Ganga, this unique museum is worth visitng. It remains closed on Wednesdays. By local train or by public or State run buses one can reach this treasure house dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. It is amazing to see how the freedom movement has been sketched so beautifully where one can read, can watch the true to life pictures. Very nice place. Fully digital. Very well maintained and educative. Awesome place and a great museum to visit to know about Bapu and his connection with Bengal. The library is also fantastic.
Any one can visit this place except Wednesday and open upto 5 pm. Lots of informations of Gandhi ji are available .Once it was good place to visit , the outside decoration was very good with lots of flowers . But now a days it is modernized with LED TV etc but the outer beauty lost. One of the most modernized museum in West Bengal. Small items such as pen ( rs5 to 10) , key ring (rs 20) and other items also available for sale.
Its really good. must visit in Barrackpore.
The museum is well kept and clean. The main incidents of the independence movement are beautifully designed and depicted. The lawns in front need to be developed and maintained as it will make the place more aesthetic and add to the overall beauty.
Its a peaceful place that you can visit. No tickets or any charges to see the Musium. You can know mostbof the things about Gandhi here. And also can purchase related books n stuff here.
It was a lovely experience on Sunday evening. I would suggest more people to visit and have a experience of their own.
The Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya at Barrackpore, may claim to be further distinct because of its offerings and programmes and its integrated approach as a museum proper, utilising all the present day museological media and having developed a range of galleries depicting facets of Gandhiji’s life and philosophy along with different phases of India’s Freedom Movement. The variety of collections at the Museum at Barrackpore provide interesting and highly informative direct research materials regarding the personality, thinking and the programmes of the Mahatma or about events in his life. The museum’s search for an alternative ideology, in place of those that are pursued still by Governments and countries without being able to bring about real welfare of the people, through various intellectual exercises like seminars, dialogues or other such programmes and its research activities, perhaps a first by a purely biographical museum and beyond its collected objects must be regarded as a distinct feature. Thanks 🙏🙏ramprakashvermalg

IF THEY ANSWER not to thy call walk alone,If they are afraid and cower mutely facing the wall,O thou of evil luck,Open thy mind and speak out alone. If they turn away, and desert you when crossing the wilderness,O thou of evil luck,Trample the thorns under thy tread,And along the blood-lined track travel alone. If they do not hold up the lightWhen the night is troubled with storm,O thou of evil luck,With the thunder flame of pain ignite thine own heartAnd let it burn alone.-- Ravindranath Tagore

Excellent Environment fresh air.
This museum is one the most well-maintained and technologically advanced museums that I have ever visited in West Bengal. If you are a true patriotic person, then you shouldnt miss an opportunity to visit this place. Nestled deep inside the Barrackpore Cantonment area, this place can be easily reached from Srirampur, after crossing the river by a boat & also from the Barrackpore Railway Station. The entrance to this museum is absolutely free and you also get an opportunity to witness a film, which showcases Indias struggle for Independence and the important roles played by eminent personalities like Mangal Pandey, Surendranath Banerjee, Mahatma Gandhi and more. This museum also has a small library, from where you can get access to various books pertaining to Indias Independence Movement. Being a military area, the overall ambience of this place is exceptionally neat and clean. Nicely paved roads, lush green trees, and the cool breeze from the river, the aura of this place is something unique and spectacular. Highly recommended. 👍☺️

The origin of this Museum goes back to the period soon after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on the fateful evening of January 30, 1948, when the slow process of scouting for, collecting and preserving the personal relics, manuscripts, books, journals and documents, photographic and audio-visual material, all that could go into a Museum on the life, philosophy and work of Gandhiji—began in an unostentatious way in Mumbai.Later the work was shifted to Delhi and in early 1951 the nucleus of a Museum on Gandhiji was set up in the Government hutments adjoining Kota House. Later still, in mid-1957, it was shifted to the picturesque old mansion at 5, Mansingh Road.It was finally brought to its present new and permanent home, most appropriately built opposite the SAMADHI of Mahatma Gandhi – free India’s most revered place of pilgrimage-at Rajghat, New Delhi, in 1959. The imposing two storey Museum was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the President of India, on January 30, 1961.The Museum was named ‘Gandhi Memorial Museum’ (Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya), now commonly known as ‘National Gandhi Museum’ (Rashtriya Gandhi Sangrahalaya) as there are also a number of regional Gandhi memorial museums in India.
