Its a gaushala, quite a large one Id say. The cattle population is around 2600 as on monsoon 2021. The staff here are courteous and kind. They let you feed the cows without much questioning. People who are inclined towards gau seva are recommended to visit the place. People who love animals in general may visit too. A very serene place that provides a niche for cows and ox. A very well driven ecosystem.
Very neat and clean gaushala. Well maintained. Good helpers and staffs. Best thing about the place is that All the Cows listen to Krishna and Raam bhajan whole day from Mandir Prangan. Its divine. You must go and do sewa
Wonderful experience, quality green chara, and cow food can be served.
Nicely managed, well maintained .
Very good placeCows are sheltered and take care of
The best thing here is the unconditional service put out by humans for cattle. Cows are raised, taken care of and fed here. The whole place runs on donations and they have more than 1500 cows in the whole area. The way they are taken care of is quite overwhelming. There is a hospital too to take care of the sick ones. People from anywhere can come and feed the cattle. The greens and vegetables that are donated across Kolkata are hauled in trucks and every quarter of cattle are fed sequentially so that every single cow gets something or the other.
Very very good
The Calcutta Pinjrapol Society, a rich Marwari organization was founded in Sodpur in 1885 A.D. by the Jain Marwari community to save the old cattle from death. This organization is nearly 135 years old! Located near the Sodepur Rail station, they set up a large place called Goshala where hundreds of cows are cared for and treated. Every year, a big fair known as the Gopastami Mela is celebrated here. To reach the Calcutta Pinjrapol Society from Sodpur Rail station, autos going in the Kalyannagar route are available. One has to get down at Pinjrapol stop. To travel from B.T. Road directly, bus no. 78/1 going to Raharabazar are also available.
This is good place for cow shelter. According to Hindu believe Cow is a animal of God. Hidues call cow as mother and they worship cow. There is a tradition in every Hindu house that the first bread which they prepare at their home, shall be kept for cow.Cow products and byproducts are used in Aurvedic medicines. This place has a research centre on cow products and byproducts which may be used in medical science. Some believe that cow urine is very much effective antibiotic.
