Liked it. Location is not exact on google map. You will have to ask other people for the exact location. They will say it wont take much time, but it will, trust me on this. So go there with 1 to 2 hours in hand. And dont forget to ask for the receipt, otherwise they wont give receipt. We forgot to ask.
Goonj is doing great work as a collection centre for relief and good quality materials and reallocation to place of disaster or even underdeveloped places requiring material assistance. Their approach of giving with respect , and charity against labour - so that people dont become dependant on charity and earn it with dignity - makes them stand out among many other relief-oriented charitable efforts. They are also doing great work about raising awareness about womens menstrual issues. Overall genuine, unique efforts - would recommend all to contribute.
The volunteers are dedicated and do a lot of good works for the society and for the underprivileged. Many people donate clothes , books, etc . Bur its important to sort them and reach them to the needy ones. Help is required here.
I simply do not have words to describe, the noble works that Goonj is doing. Working relentlessly to help people, but at the same time making sure that they are involving people in the locality to work for a common cause/problem which is applicable for that locality. I dropped a few set of old clothes there, and got a chance to visit their office and to talk with them. I wish every success to each and every endevour of Goonj.
It a humbling experience to visit this place. They use everything and I mean everything to make clothes and necessary articles for the needy. The best part about this organisation is that it doesnt believe in mere charity but rather believes in providing necessary articles to the needy in return of some work eg stitching, digging wells, etc so that they feel empowered rather than humiliated.
Finding their address was challenging... and to park the car on the narrow street was even more of a challenge. Had visited them to drop off my mothers sarees aa per her last wish ... they explained the kind if work that they are doing and promised the stuff would definitely reach the intended. It was a small office with few staff but I hope they are able to keep up the good work!
No words can convey my appreciation for the work they do..apart from taking old clothes etc they also take half used papers like one side printed bills , answer sheets etc and use it to make receipts etc..what a truly amazing idea and organisation too!!
Its really good step to make awareness into people and provide them help as well.. they are really doing a great work..
Visited to donate my clothes. One of the administrator explained to us very nicely about how the organization works and showed us the place in a very welcoming manner. Really loved it.
Extremely helpful staff behaviour. Have visited this place to drop in packs of used clothes. They respond over phone. However it is a bit tedious to locate the office in a by-lane.
