Ramakrishna math, Barasat is one of the branch center of RAMAKRISHNA MATH & RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, Belur and the holly birth place of SRIMATH SWAMI SHIBANANDAJI MAHARAJ also known as MAHAPURUSH MAHARAJ, who is one of the direct disciple of SRI RAMAKRISHNA DEV and 2nd. president of Ramakrishna Order. This holly place is very popular among the devotees of Ramakrishna followers. Everyday here performed puja- voga and other rituals as per guide line. There is a charitable dispensery for the needy persons and along with other celebration here offer Sri Sri Durga puja with distribution of PROSADAM to all devotees.

A peaceful place . It has got its own importance. This is the birthplace of Swami Shivananda whose premonastic name was Taraknath Ghosal who was born in 1864. He was a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Ashrama was started in 1961and came to be a branch centre of Belur Math in 1985.Ramkanai Ghoshal who was a lawyer and Tantrik was his father. He was also very charitable. Swami Vivekananda called Swami Shivananda Mahapurush’ which means ‘great soul’, and since then he came to be known as ‘Mahapurush Maharaj’.There is a library with many books, periodicals and newspapers. A charitable homeopathic-cum-allopathic dispensary is also there serving people.Daily worship, bhajans, regular religious discourses and classes are conducted.The birth tithis of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Shivananda and other religious personalities, and celebration of festivals like Durga Puja, Kali Puja, etc. Are also observed.

Place of Shivananda Dham... Really nice.. But there guest house is all dormetory, single room is not available.

The kumari puja was really good.The environment was totally a religious one. There was discipline all over.As a whole, it was an enjoyable experience.
