Amazing food here. Came out fast and stunningly. Not only did the food look aesthetically pleasing, it tasted so. The customer service was great, especially from Kamal. Very friendly person who went through all efforts to help me and my family. Even the customers were very talkative and friendly. Definitely worth visiting this place!

We decided to try Maha-Bharat for our evening family meal.We were promptly shown to a table and popadoms and drinks arrived quickly.It did take a little longer for the main meals to arrive. Even our two boys that are quite fussy about their food both said they really enjoyed the butter chicken.Both of ours were very tasty as well.Great service, yummy food and not too badly priced.Worth a visit if your in Torquay.

Visited a few days ago and the food was fantastic, although where I come from we get bigger portions, but the quality far outweighs the portion size.Missed the big Indian chips that You normally get, but thats not the end of the world. Price was reasonable as well.Sadly, when it come to service, errr, there was non, litteraly. Had to ask to get drinks, waited ages for food order to be taken, same for extra drinks and never cleared table till I asked for the bill. The food was cooked in a reasonable time, no problems there.Pity really as it could have been a 5.

Very friendly and efficient. Hadnt booked and expected to have to wait but got a table straight away. Sunday menu was great value and would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately, did not enjoy my experience here. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was small and dark but they had provisions for covid protection likes screens and decent spacing between tables. I ordered a prawn biryani and it came with vegetable curry and it was tasteless. Very bland and no real flavour.

Tried here for the first time and wow what a lovely find the staff were very welcoming and the menu choice was fab we eat Indian a lot but even we found dishes we had never tried before all the food was delicious we will be going back-added bonus a huge marine tank right through the centre of the restaurant is a must see on its own.

Went here for a meal on Monday after reading all the good reviews. We werent disappointed. They have a lovely huge fish tank in the cantre of the restaurant. We were greated by a polite member of staff, asked where we wanted to sit as it was quiet. Straight away we ordered our drinks and poppadoms. The waiter then told us when were ready to order let them know. Which I thought was good.Eventually we ordered our food. When it arrived it looked and smelt lovely. The taste was amazing, the portions were big and the best thing I liked about our meal was they presented the nan bread cut up for you. ( so no mess trying to cut up hot nan). We have been trying to find a nice Indian around the Torquay area and its safe to say we have found one, at last. Would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be going back. Thank you for some lovely food.

Absolutely terrible. went here last week for a family meal and was not impressed, there is nothing authentic about this place apart from the music being played in the background. The poppadums and condiments are not free and they dont mention this before they bring it to your table. Secondly the curries we ordered tasted exactly the same. A complete waste of money.

The meal came on time, the sauces were ok in the main dishes but the small amount of meat in both meals was very disappointing. We also got tandoori mixed grill costing £12.95 and it came in a small tub. My son is now having a sandwich

Exceptionally slow service with a wait of over 90 minutes to deliver food. The food was OK but the wait was far too long.

Absolutely terrible... avoid at all cost... hardly any chicken bits in the dishes we ordered and the chicken that was there was over cooked... the sauce was bland and tasteless best part about all this was the poppadom ... avoid at all costs...

Lovely meal very good service

It started well and the staff were sweet enough to offer us a table, even though we hadnt booked. I was shocked because the younger/shorter waiter mentioned me being there a couple of weeks prior, perhaps after a few drinks. I was with my son (he had just arrived from Bristol) and the comments made me feel uncomfortable. The food was terrible and my son told both waiters why we felt this way. Actually, only 1 waiter came to clean our table, yet another one joined later. Again, the shorter waiter was extremely rude, boasting we had only came in for a free meal. It didnt make any sense because I had been there previously and have lived in the area for more than 20 years. My son told them calmly without any anger or resentment, simply talking about the food (it really was not a personal attack). I think the younger waiter has experienced difficulties in the past and projected that we were there to make his job difficult. Rather than acting professionally, he behaved like a thug, even using his phone to intimidate us in some moments. I was ready to pay the bill, even though it felt unfair. If the younger waiter had controlled himself, none of the above would have happened. The taller, more mature waiter has been there ever since I have. I never had the same treatment before. Such a shame although I am proud of my son for addressing the quality of the food while remaining calm.

On Friday 21st August 2020 we made our yearly visit to this restaurant. NEVER AGAIN! As we are about to enjoy our starters, my husband felt ill and went outside for some fresh air. He collapsed and we had to call an ambulance as a stroke was suspected. During this stressful situation the waiter followed me out of the restaurant as he wanted us to settle the bill. He wanted us to pay £90 for the meal we had ordered and had not touched. While I was dealing with the paramedics, the waiter came again, now with a bill for £40! This is just paid to get him off my case. I will never ,ever step foot in this restaurant again. My husband is now undergoing tests at our local hospital.

I have dined here many times and all I can say is gee someone starved the portion sizes. No green bottles standing on the wall no no no. First it was 10 pieces of chunky meat then it went down to 4/5 and now it’s 5/6 small measly pieces of meat. I did try telling them but no they are greedy and so now we go to Thariks instead. You lost our business and quite a few of my associates feel the same way. It’s a shame because I like to have a nice local Indian just down the road. So either do budget food at budget prices or luxury generous portion sizes at generous prices but definitely stop doing overpriced food for a few tiny scraps of meat. Crazy. Annoying and it’s 20 years of business that you have lost. Cheers and TOODLE PIP from us.

Great tasting Indian food. One of the best in Torquay. Very nice and helpful waiters. One that stood out was Kamal, he was so patient, helpful and freindly. If only all waiters were like him. Overall a very good experience.

I’m sure the food is great and we enjoyed the aquarium and ambience but the service front of house lacked a manager to look after the guests .This resulted in a young waitress and waiter(immature) very much out of their depth on very recent visit.4/8/20We had pre booked table for 8 pm and then had to wait 25 mins for a table as restaurant was full !! This restaurant did not participate in the new ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme as is very busy and has good reputation.We had a few drinks and simple starters but still waiting for mains after 2 hours 10 minutes. Was offered free food to take home (would have had to wait as they forget to cook ours)but was way too late for us to eat.(On holiday in a room so not practical .)We were not offered a penny (or a drink) off the bill (and over charged for breads)so paid for what we had and went on our merry way back to our hotel.Bring back some decent waiters and if your too busy to offer a great experience to every diner then limit the tables so you’re staff can cope and learn. The manger is in need of some honest feedback. Hoping others get a better evening 👍

Average Cury house

Both my mother and I ordered a lamb tikka masala and a chicken korai with rice and a paratha as well as some drinks. The masala came out with barely any lamb and the korai came out with a layer of oil on the top. When biting into the lamb, my teeth crunched on granules of sugar. The dish was unbelievably sweet and costs £10. The korai was so oily and I only had one spoon. Upon cleaning the table, the waiter hesitated to ask how the food was, I told him how it was and them another waiter decided to join the one who was already stood Infront of us. Thereafter, he said you disrespecting, he obviously learnt his English in some bootcamp and took my response personally. Then he accused us of looking for a free meal. The man I am referring to is short, vulgar and extremely rude. Next time you ask how the meal was and dont like the response, perhaps you could simply reply Im sorry you did not enjoy your meal, well notify the chef. It was an awful experience along with awful food. The best thing about the restaurant is the huge beautiful fish tank - thats it! Never again... poor poor attitudes and rude to my elderly mother who paid for our meal together (I had just arrived from Bristol). Shame on you!

Torquays best curry house is back on the map!

Awesome, authentic food in a great setting. The staff are always friendly and will advise about the menu and the food is excellent, not dumbed down for western tastes. There is a huge fish tank in the middle of the seating area which adds to a great atmosphere. Plenty of parking close by and right by the harbour. Delicious!!!

Lime pickle was salty and the mint yogurt tasted like it was on the turn or something 🤢, we had some sort of buhna with a special garlic sauce, it was quite literally just a buhna with thick slices of garlic in it, probably a whole bulb in one curry, it was pretty gross. Nice looking restaurant with good service, shame about the food 🥘

Great Indian restaurant. Tasty food and great atmosphere.I love going to this restaurant. They serve authentic, tasty food and will always help and advise about dishes on the menu. My favourite is the lamb rajeshwari which is spicy and always cooked to perfection. Awesome!It has a huge fish tank too which adds to the atmosphere. Lots of parking nearby and close to the harbour if you fancy walking off some calories after you eat way too much like I do.Very good.

Took five minutes to sit 4 us down, once sat took about 5 minutes to bring our drinks, popadoms served very fast, we out in our order, but took hour and half, still no food, and we was on our 2nd drink, when confronted the staff, they said was only ordered 45 minutes ago, but, we know other wise, after so much poor service and terrible attitude, we walked out, terrible place for service, we went across the road to Simla, 1000 times better, 5 stars to Simla,

The food was lovely and the serving staff very attentive and friendly. However problems with the bill as grossly overcharged. We had a laugh with the people on the next table as we were charged for their drinks. It all came good in the end and everyone was very good humoured. Good Idea to check before paying.

Takeaway is horrible..nasty and without flavor..just chilli jup poured on everything. I dont know about the in house experience as I have never been there. This is my fourth take out and the last...This is not just my opinion, but I suppose that they are cheap..and it tastes cheap as well

We moved to the area Oct 2018 I love curry and we have tried a few around Torbay. This is the one for us after being back around 5 times, we don’t go anywhere else the food is great.

Rude Staff No Manners,swearing in front of kids ,especially the little one with beard and the bald Manager both were Either Pakistani or Bengali kept calling us F****king Indians for no reasons Racist..The Chef was more sensible than the 2 in the front, wanted to give 0 but had no option.DO NOT VISIT

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere with a lovely fish tank in the middle. The waiters are all very very friendly and the food is always really lovely and tastes excellent, especially the naan bread! Would highly recommend to everyone! :)
