Because of covid it was closed, but only can visit from so far but beautiful place must visit and get goddess blessings
Temple have really good management. At back entry there is a reliable Lockers available in very cheap price. You can roam around a city by keeping your extra luggage and stuff there.
No rush due to Covid. Outside darshan
This temple of the deity named Ambabai is famous all around Maharashtra. I have been to this temple three times and my recent visit was in March 2021. The darshan has been allotted fix timings after the pandemic and the mandir is closed for darshan from 1 to 3 PM. The best time to visit would be during the weekdays.
Shri Mahalaxmi Temple is a sacred and shrine place for all Hindus in Maharashtra and entire south India. Its believed that Goddess Lakshmi was little upset with Bhagwan Vishnu as Balaji at Tirupati and she moved to Kolhapur and to say her sorry Bhagwan Vishnu came to Kolhapur. The temple is ancient and very beautiful. Every wall and its dome is carved in black lava stone with several Vedic sculptures and story telling arts. The temple entrance is East way however, due to traffic and Covid19 measure its now starting from West. If you want to get closer Darshan go from West Mahadwar. The temple is not maintained as its cleanliness is considered as all pillers and floor were dusty. Exterior surrounding are clean though. Unnecessary shops allowed inside Temple premise are denting Temples beauty. These shops must be shifted outside of the temple boundary. Priests are available for so many important rituals and Puja offerings but the temple doesnt hosts much place for all such religious activities due to place taken by shops.Devasthan trust havent provided bare minimum facilities like Footware racks, clean drinking water and toilets. Disabled people cant enter with wheel chair and nobody in the trust is bothered of it. No.place for devotees to have Prasad or small break to meditate available.Such a shrine place doesnt seems to be managed by sensible and capable people. Overall experience about facilities is pathetic but if its about seeing Goddess Mahalaxmi and beauty of Temple, it worth being there.

Gods Heavy Blessings & Great Historical & Humanity Learning place
We were here in July and the time taken from entry into the queue to exit was approximately an hour and 15 mins. It is an unassuming temple given its hallowed status. The route the queue takes allows for a long gaze at the edifice from which much can be gleaned if one is familiar with Hindu iconography.
Very good place.
Loved it. Will not suggest to go in summer.
Due to pendamic we couldnt explore the inside of the temple but have been there before and its fabulous experience. The organisers inside are doing a fabulous job but its a bit messed up outside. Lots of crowd. Almost no parking space. You may want to book a car on rent or hire a cab or rickshaw just to visit the vicinity during this pendamic. Remaining 2 stars would be if theres any development in organisation out side for proper darshan and visitors parking facility near the temple in future.
I just love this place. It is temple of karvir vasini ambabai. You must visit to this temple when you are in the kolhapur.
Most beautiful and spiritual place in Kolhapur to visit.
Beautiful temple 😊
Mother Goddess to Maharashtrians, Old temple, makes feel divinity of place. Needs better floor cleanliness. The temple is well organized and maintained. Huge queue is observed during weekends. Due to covid they arent accepting any offerings of flowers and blouse piece. The goddess is beautifully decorated and worshipped. The temple is also surrounded with various shops of kolhapuri chappals, bags etc.
Nice temple. Good to visit during covid restrictions. Visited within 30 min.
Very spiritual place to visit, very well managed. Surrounded by shops for offerings n soveniers. Also shops of famous kolhapuri footwear and masala. Dont forget to taste delicious Guava ( Peru) . A piece of ancient architecture...

The Shri Mahalakshmi (AmbaBai) Temple of Kolhapur in Maharashtra, India, is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas listed in various puranas of Hinduism. The temple is of special religious significance and is considered to be a place where Shakti (Energy of the Supreme Lord) manifests and as one of only six sacred houses of Shakti where worshipers can either be freed from or granted their longings. She is fondly called Ambabai which means Divine Mother.
Was not crowded and darshan line was far from actual godess statue

Mahalaxmi temple situated in Kolhapur city. Its is said that temple is built in 7th century. Later on many invaders destructed the constructions. Its is very famous among devotees of goddess Laxmi and most of the devotees visit mahalaxmi temple all around the year. During Navratri festival Kiranotsav is celebrated when sun rays of sun fall directly on deity at sunrise.
Most crowded place. now a days entry from ghati daravaja is closed due to construction.
Extremely blissful place especially in the evenings due to the decorative lights and the weather. In the evenings there clothing and footwear shops also open for shopping and stuff, so the atmosphere around is very festive and joyous. I was told by one of the tea vendor nearby that the those shops are not open in the mornings. Although i am not quite sure about that. Enjoy your trip!
Shree Mahalaxmi temple is a very sacred place for Hindus. Temple is well maintained and has very beautiful stone sculptures. Temple it self is very huge. Definite place to visit.

Visit Date: 25th Dec 2020Reached in evening around 6.30pm. There was rush and queue was long, so we lost hope and thought to have mukh darshan. But then one vendor told us that in 30min, you all will get darshan. So we started at 7pm in queue and 7.35pm we were out of temple.Darshan was very nice, Temple trust is not taking any offering of Coconut, cloths, garlands etc. so refrain from buying the same.Covid precautions has been taken care properly, thanks to Kolhapur Police force. They are there to guide you and constantly reminding for Mask & Social distancingTips: epass are available, we came to know at the end of the queue, so get it and there is direct entry from other side of gateFamous things to buy: Just outside of temple there are markets for - Kolhapuri chappals, Masale (Spices), Kandi pede, Maharashtrian phete, Swords and variety of cloths.Nearby temples: 1. Audumbar Temple (1hr 30min), 2. Narsoba Wadi (1hr 3omin) 3. Paijarwadi - Sadguru Datta Chile temple (must visit as it is Tortoise shape temple, 1hr )

Very unique architecture with black stone load bearing stone structure, very ancient temple of laxmi devi, there is free prasad food or Bhandara available which is very delicious ofcourse, some time is in queue required for devi darshan, its a oldest landmark of kolhapur, one can buy Kolhapuri jwellery and Kolhapuri chappal in market around

Worth visiting the temple with old and artistic sculpture all around.
Must visit temple at Kolhapur. Good management of temple committee in handling the crowd.Temple is very much rich in its Archiecture. And there is Annaprasada which starts from 12.00 pm and its quite far away from temple. For Annaprasad, devotees have to walk for 1.5 Km just beside the temple.Very much well maintained and very hygiene place at Annaprasad. We were surprsining to see its cleaniness during this pandemic situation. Liked very much. Really good temple to visit.
The temple is accessible from different roads with multiple gates for entry. Peaceful, divine place with superb architectural design. Lights falling on pillars in the evening enhances its beauty.

A temple from heritage times with remarkable architecture and impeccable designs on the pillars and outer walls of the temple. Holy place of Goddess Lakshmi. Friday’s and Tuesday’s crowd will be as busy as it gets. This is must visit place especially, the age old tradition is to visit the temple after visiting Tirupathi Venkateshwara God. If you’re buying stuffs here, do bargain for a reasonable price.
