Hospitality is good. All the staff are so welcoming. Reception checks are tough though. Food is like at home. The view and stay is made the most comfortable ones, for us. Definitely a look up option for staying at Kodaikanal, if you can afford the stay.

Ive been staying with The Carlton quite frequently and they havent disappointed me during all my stays.Right from check in to check out they took care of me and my requirements. Food is great, rooms are amazing with wonderful lake view, amazing service by the whole team. I wish I could mention everyone in this review, unfortunately Im really bad with names.Special thanks to John Murugaesan, Robin Jackson, Mayakannan and the whole team....The most amazing part is that the porters and the security guards were so polite and greeted me every morning.Had many amazing experience.Great work by the whole team and my best wishes for them👏👏👏

Extremely saddened by the way this hotel loot their customers in the name of prime property. No doubt the property is good, but when you pay 15K for one night you expect all facilities to be included, unfortunately thats not the case with Carlton, even to use the pool table or steam or sauna one has to pay up extra.. food also is below average.

Best place to stay in kodaikanal with family. All rooms have lake view. Kids will enjoy the lawn area, club house, Badminton, cycling etc. Delicious food and spacious rooms.

The Carlton one of the best stays at Kodaikanal. This place has great rooms all surrounded by natural beauty, has an amazing lake view. The restaurant here also serves great food. Its quite a large place. There is a gym here and also there is game room where children can play and have fun. There is a bonfire place, for large groups to spend time. The bar serves quite a large number of varieties. The view from rooms is just mesmerizing. Would love to have another stay here.

One of the best hotels in Kodaikanal, views from the hotel is incredible. Staffs are very courteous and helpful. Food served in the hotel is great, breakfast can have little more variety in the menu especially north indian foods.You can take a break and have some relaxed peaceful time here.

One of the best hotel in kodaikanal with best view of the kodai lake. The hotel is nearer to almost all the tourist destinations. The rooms are neat and clean, well kept and well maintained property with courteous and friendly staffs. Since we never tried food from there in house restaurant anytime we went to kodaikanal, cant comment on there food.

Visited in November. It was well maintained & properly sanitised during Covid time. Had to mention that the staffs are very kind and friendly. Since all the tourists spots have been closed, moat of the time we had to be in the hotel and it is more than enough to spend your leisure time walking around the property and all the rooms are lake facing which had a wonderful view.

Incredible and surprised visiting on my holidays. No need to go sightseeing outside, since hotel itself a great picnic place. The lobby, corridors, lake view balcony are incomparable.Worth for the money we spent.They serve fabulous multi varieties of food. Indoor games facility are timepass.Camp fire is a special feature provided by the hotel is one of the major attractions.Rooms will be available during the off-season Sep to Feb. Prebooking can be done by phone call or through website.

Absolutely painful hotel. The greatest noise polluters and law floaters in Kodaikanal. They blast loud music that can be heard right inside the Shola forest every weekend. Residents of Kodaikanal and animals cant sleep.

We went there for lunch..But the restuarant was closed as they have some wedding event that day..But the manager didnt want us leave with disappointment , he provided lunch for our 1 year baby that too in the outdoor with lake view though they were busy with the event..Food was yumm..And the lake view was awesome...Staff are very kind and polite..Would definitely visit during my next trip to kodai..

The Carlton, A wonderful hotel surrounded by natural beauty. I visited 2 years ago but I still it is my one the best memory which provoke me to write this review. Its great location, fresh and cold environment, Lake view, very tasty food, boating on a beautiful lake, barbeque night, mountain tracking, over all well management were amazing and fantastic. Majestic Kodaikanal lake view from hotel lawn is divine. Room has enough space and well decorated. Gyms place is small but well equipped. Gaming room is available. The hotel service was extraordinary and staffs were cordial, professional and well mannered. In one word, it was a dreamy two days here and I want to go back there again and again.

My husband and I had been to kodaikanal on the Valentines day and guess what Carlton had arranged for some games and music. They had decorated their restaurant with red balloons and took a picture of every customer, put it in a frame and gifted it to us. They had arranged a candle light dinner in their restaurant with great dishes to offer. The staff are extremely friendly and the attention they give to their customers is great. The rooms are neat and clean and well equipped along with a balcony with lake side view which is mesmarizing.The location is at the center of the city which was a one up for me. The cab services that their travel desk offer for sightseeing are also reasonable.We had a great experience and thanks to Carlton for making it possible. This is one such hotel we would love to visit again and would recommend to others as well.

This s our first visit to kodai for our anniversary, v had a very gud time here with carlton.. d amenities r very gud.. tambola game here s a memorable event for us..its worthwhile to stay here.. Wonderful location by the lake in the middle of Kodaikanal. Beautiful rustic structure. Well maintained with brilliant service. A good choice if youre on a quick getaway and dont have the time to wander away from the main town to look for a beautiful place to stay. Only problem being its unnecessarily expensive for what you get in return. The restaurant should also consider expanding its menu. The view and the giant balconies.

A view from the room, thatll definitely make a morning much better than simply good. With only a few minutes walk from the citys heart, staying in Carlton can be very convenient for us. The guests are provided with some much needed complimentary facilities like, cycles on rent. Theres also a Carlton Club which has a few indoor games like Table Tennis, Air Hockey. The rooms are pretty clean and tidy, just as any 5 star hotels room should be, but as said before, with a fabulous view of the Kodai Lake.The staff was very cooperative and they helped us as fast as they could be, in the process of changing room as we wanted a single king sized bed, instead of two separate ones.About the food, I believe, every guest has a complimentary breakfast (you may call it brunch :p) included in the package. Theres a large variety of dishes to choose from. And everyday, theres one healthy salad included in the menu for the health conscious people. Overall, being a spicy-foodie, I felt the food was little too bland for me.There are many shops on the same street and theres a back door thats in midst of those shops and just in front of the boating club. Even the main market areas are 2-5 minutes away from the hotel.The photos Ive uploaded have the view from the room in evening/morning and The Carlton from the other side of Kodai Lake.Thank you for reading the review. 😊

It was a wonderful stay at the Carlton. Such a beautiful property right on the banks of the Kodai lake. There is still the old world charm there, everything is well taken care of. Absolutely must stay in Kodaikanal!

Awesome hotel with Lake view. Very clean and well maintained hotel. Courteous Staff, Room service is good and helpful . Best buffet with lot of options in veg and non veg. They give complimentary boating for the couples and also arrange the group cab for sight seeing all the places at Kodaikkanal. You leave there with the such a classy and cheesy experience . I would suggest take rooms with balcony lake view it might be little expensive but worth paying for it. And also book couple of months before as you get offer on the price. The experience is more for what you spend.

Very nice hotel to stay for family with kids. They enjoy the park and indoor game. It is good place to escape from routine. The lake view room gives a great relaxing feel. Its very close to lake they offer free cycle to have a beautiful view of the lake. Boating is charged but they have own boat house which helps to bypass a long queue. But compared to the normal price little higher. The food is good and decent. I wont say its great because compared to five stars hotels it dont come to the mark. The hospitality of the staff good around the hotel but the staff in the reception was neutral and no so likely. When I reached the parking there was some chaos because of conference but wallet parking made me ok with the situation. My overall stay there was memorable and relaxing. I recommend for people go with kids to be engaged.

Clean and spacious rooms. cordial staff and prompt response for any query or request.. Will definitely visit again. We are able to hear the neighbouring rooms sounds which needs to looked into.

Place was amazing ..especially the lake view..resort itself was so beautiful..But I think they should improve on their customer service..I stayed there and I could see no interaction from their side..Food was ok and not that great..And the stay per night itself costs so much..They are on the pricer side..not affordable by all..But definitely staying in carlton is pure luxury..Definitely one will enjoy the beautiful scenery..

Its a really good place to both eat or stay. The food is prepared perfectly and the cuisines cater to every persons need. The view is one which is very hard to beat in Kodaks all. A breathtaking view of the lake is all youll need to accompany your morning coffee before a nice jog around the lake. The staff service and response time is excellent and the extra services they offer are quite good too. Its a perfect place for a peaceful holiday.

This hotel would probably have the best view of the lake right in the middle of Kodaikanal town. Hospitality is top notch. Rooms are pretty spacious and clean. Play Area for the kids and grown ups, cycles available to explore at your own pace the the beauty of the lake and other places around. Spa on prior booking. Food is ok. Evenings the hotel organises tambola around the fireplace for the guests. Sometimes they organise magic shows for kids too. Bar has a decent selection. The most liveliest place.

The hotel Carlton really good in all aspects. Only the prices are high for stay and in room service however the facilities are really good. They have swing, slidings, cycling, table tennis, carom, chess, library etc. Initially we planned for a day but my children liked the hotel so much so we have extended another day. The property located just opposite to the lake so view of the most of the rooms are lake which is very nice sitting in the balcony having coffee is really awsome experience.

Also, the Shikara ride is wonderful because the Shikara gives you a royal feel as it has been made in a different way as compared to the other shikaras. The food is authentic and delicious. Overall , I must say if you are planning a trip to Kodaikanl, then go for The Carlton. The staff is also very polite.

Best location in town. All rooms have lake view. Gardens are immaculately maintained. The dinner buffet is exquisite. Hotel offers free cycling and site seeing. Boat houses are just across the road. Walking or cycling should be done early morning though because the car traffic increases after 9am

Undoubtedly, has a lovely location. Good rooms. The only hotel with the lake in touching distance. With, so many good small hotels around , looks pricy. Got a good deal at make my trip. Called directly, and they offered 25℅ higher!!Food is pretty ordinary. Service in the restaurant matches the food.Was given 2 room key cards. One was left in the room, and the other I handed over to the reception while checking out. As the house keeping couldnt find the keys I was asked to pay, Rs 400!!! And Ive been going there since 1991!!No doubt, with this attitude, you can find rooms here almost on all days.

The best place to stay in Kodaikkanal if budget is not your criteria. Lovely location near the lake and city centre. Good architectural style which will not give the contemporary lodge like feel u get in other hotels. Good variety of food and beverages available at the grand restaurant. Everyone will definitely enjoy the view of the lake from the lawn and enjoy the private Boat Club and the cycling around the lake. Not very expensive but it’s definitely worth it. Good for get together and conferences. Indeed we could accommodate 100 families for our batch get together.Contact Mr. Christopher the Manager a very nice person who is very nice and helpful.

My wife and me stayed for three nights. The tariff was inclusive of breakfast and dinner .Both the breakfast and dinner were buffet. The spread was sumptuous and tasty. The staffs were friendly , polite and courteous .Breakfast I was specially treated with my favourite sausages.Dinner surprise - special dessert Shahi Tukda.Thanks to all restaurants staffs and the managers. All appreciation to professional and talented chef Krishna .The property has the best location advantage, almost all tourist attractions are near by. The rooms are clean and tidy.Only minus point is that almost all the staffs, supervisors and managers talk among themselves in a very loud voice and break the silence and calmness. They should be taught how to whisper. No doubt with the guests each and everyone is soft , courteous, polite,helpful , Etc . Four stars for the loud voice otherwise definitely five stars.Overall my stay was comfortable and pleasant. Definitely I would recommend to others and will stay again.

The Carlton is an Excellent property with a beautiful and picturesque view. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The food in Silver oak is delicious. Their breakfast is worth trying. They have a great spread for all kind of palates. Overall a lovely place to spend a weekend or a short holiday.

It was a Superb experience for our family. We were 2 families and got Interconnected Lake facing Rooms, Dream start for an vacation. The kids just loved it. View - Breathtaking view of the Lake and garden, watching the Boats. its so peaceful and perfect location for a relaxing Holiday.Facilities - Rooms were spacious, clean and just awesome. Nothing to complain. Staff were very courteous and took good care of us. There is a Huge sofa cum bed, apart from the king size Beds, which makes it so convenient for family of 4. House keeping keeps the room neat twice a day, without much disturbance. Kids play area and the club house was good enough to keep the kids engaged. The Garden is Huge and neatly maintained with slight gradient. Food is excellent, good spread for breakfast. Less choices for Lunch and Dinner and expensive (of-course its a 5 stat property).Overall it was a pleasant stay for us, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hats off to all the staff who were all polite and supportive.

Rooms are too good. Not only rooms they have various facilities like boating, cycling they have indoor games like chess, carrom, table tennis, ludo, snake and ladder. A lake view which is very beautiful scenery from rooms. Complimentary breakfast and dinner. They also have gym, massage centre. They also a play area for kids less than 5 years. In Playing area they have see saw, swing etc etc..

Very good hotel and services. But too many ppl in kodai kanal. It took us hours to move 100 meters such was the traffic. I recommend families not to go to kodai unless the traffic problem is resolved. U better stay inside carlton and enjoy the services. Food was also very good. The best u can get in the area

Just I am sharing my view of Hotel Carlton which is placed just close to Lake. I stayed on May 12th 2019. From the room we can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. There is nice greenish and colourful surrounding with full of flowers. Bathroom and toilet are good. Food is OK. BUT THE MAJOR EMBARRASSING thing is, they not at all bother our tamilans. During buffet they only concern other state people only. From the beginning of starters to deserts, staff serve only the other state people, even though they doesnt want some dishes, staff compelling them to taste it. Noone come to our state people even to tell whats available.why I am telling this is,on dinner buffet there are so many gravies and side dishes. But there is no nan,chapatti other than white rice. But other state people having everything. We also paid the same amount then why there is so much disparity during services.

Lot of activities to engage us.... Kids will definitely enjoy the stay. Mr. Anand, a very courteous staff who is with Carlton for 30 years..is conducting Housie games daily.This game also a must try at Carlton. The restaurant staffs were excellent in their hospitality. Mr Ratheesh, Mr Robin, many more names... House Keeping is at its best in Carlton... A very quick speedy service... OVERALL WE HAD A MEMORABLE HOLIDAY. Perfect hotel to spend your holiday in Kodaikanal. Best location next to Lake. Overall service levels excellent. Instead of taking trips to crowded places, soak in the view from the hotel.All rooms have lake view. The entrance at the rear connects directly to the lake side. Hotel offers bicycle for riding along the lake. There is also the private boat club, but this is complimentary only for certain packages. Otherwise you are better off hiring a boat from the other boat houses, which are also conveniently next door.The games room is pretty large and can keep kids engaged with large wooden boards for Ludo and Snakes and Ladders.Hotel travel services are reasonably priced with good polite drivers and vehicles.We opted for a package which included breakfast and dinner, which was ideal. The food was good with a decent spread, but cannot be called excellent.
