The rooms are small and untidy. They are even costlier compared to rooms provided by other hostels located just nearby. At first I used the mess facility provided by the hostel itself , But the food was really bad. When we complained about this to the concerned personal, the response we got was negative. So we joined the university hostel nearby but didnt got the caution deposit we gave to the Hostel. I strongly recommend first years to think again before joining such a Hostel with literally no facilities.

Opal house is good for student. Here SOE students stay.

They take of children like parents. Very disciplined. It is a personal experience of a parent.

Private hostel for students studying in cusat and nearby institutions. Rooms are not so spacious but enough for one person accommodation. Rent is affordable. Sanitation is also good.

Really a nice place to stay near CUSAT. The staffs are really nice and help me a lot during my stay here for a duration of one month for my internship. A nice quiet environment for studying. :)

Very pathetic condition there, some rooms are quite suffocating, rooms are like jails there.. and they would charge you 7000 rs caution money(refundable)and rent of around 2k for single person (2 or 3 persons in a room)no light would even come, very high price they would charge for electricity. You wont find some companys mobile network. Washrooms are cleaned but no shower is there.. most of the toilet flushes are useless. Opt for other hostels if you have choice.. otherwise a *BIG NOO* to such kind of hostels.

You can stay here if you are fine with being jailed, full of restrictions with lack of some basic facilities such as having good toilets. Most of the toilets here are not in good condition and even lack a lock. Hostel gates close at 10 which is the most difficult part.

Before deciding to stay at Opal Homes Hostel, read this review. Make sure you get a room with attached bathrooms. The common ones are so bad(without locks, unclean, old, no shower) that I recommend you to stay away. The size of the rooms are really small. If you are a Cusat fresher, be ready to go to meeting of all sorts. Doing laundry was a tough job since the laundry area is filled with mosquitoes. Everyone has to be inside the hostel by 10 pm. Also, the cost the cleaning rooms is ridiculous(We had to pay 600 rupees to clean a room the size of a fairly small room.)Now for the pros:The staff are friendly and you can ask for any help you need. Outsiders are not allowed to enter into your rooms, giving more security than nearby areas.

It is good place for serious student bcoz your have to follow discipline and certain rules.

If you visit cusat(cochin university) for any purpose and want budget room at nominal rate,which is near by cusat campus then go for opal home stay. It is located inside the campus. Room rate is 250 per person for 24 hours. So dont expect much(luxury) in 250 rupees.

This is one of the least recommended hostels inside the campus. The common toilets are dirty. The warden here is a fraud and what not.

This hostel is good for boys.Also there is some disciplines fir boys for late night coming.Although this is nice hostel fir boys where boys can study. Outsiders are not allowed to come inside the hostel.
