Been there many times. Such a great restaurant with excellent quality in dishes. One of the most popular restaurants in kochi
Old name for the restaurant is getting very old. No olden tastes for Biriyani. Much Better biriyanies available in the town now. Truely disappointed.
After waiting for so long, Ive visited Rahmatulla kayees. I didnt like the biriyani and it feels like something is missing in that. Dont know if its because of the over expectations.Reaching there is but difficult because of congested and narrow roads. If you are going in four wheeler, you will be in trouble. Its a place like old market and also there are some other biriyani shops nearby
The famous kayees biriyani center. One of the most crowed restaurants in kochiduring lunch time. But if you are planning to visit fortkochi or mattacherry include kayees biriyani also in your plan. Its one of the must try thing. No parking facility available.
Best biriyani in the world! Somebody says like it. Really the biriyani is delicious. Mutton biriyani must be tasted from here.PositiveTraditional Kayees Biriyani available, which is a must have food item while visiting Fort Kochi, or Mattancherri.Well cooperating staff.Mutton biriyani is also delicious.Clean and hot plates.Neat atmosphere.NegativeThe hotel is in a congested street. So car parking, even bike parking is a headache.Bathroom facility is poor.No card payment or Google pay system. U must have currencies with U.
Kayees, the name says it all. It is one of the most popular biriyanis In the city made famous by a man named kaikka..A small place with limited seating and facilities. Get there by noon. Biriyani is really good. Have found some changes now since I last visited few years back. Chicken fry was a bit on the spicier side. Overall I would say it is one of those places you need to visit, if not for the taste or anything, but for the legendary name of this place .
This is very good cafe , quality of food and service also very good. I liked of this cafe bcz of his cleaning.this cafe has not a big one. simple and good one
This is an old fashion, no-frills restaurant that offers their signature Biriyani in two variants: Mutton & Chicken. The place can get highly congested during Fridays & weekends. People with family members are recommended to either dine in here before 12:30PM, or visit their city side branch at Ernakulam, near Durbar Hall.Coming to food, Biriyani (both Mutton & Chicken) are unbeatable and incomparable with other restaurants. This is a unique authentic biriyani containing long grain rice, well cooked meat pieces in ghee/dalda, with pineapple bits served with lime & dates pickle and kerala pappads. The place doesnt get 5 π as the staff is not keen to get you a seat on first come first serve basis. You yourself should take the responsibility of managing a seat for dining. No other items besides biriyani is served here, not even basic items like bottled water, cool drinks or non-veg sides. Cleanliness is something the staff is less keen about.
Totally disappointed with the chicken biriyani i ordered. Mutton biriyani was feel better wen compared to chicken biriyani. I think there are other food joints in Cochin which serves far better than famous kayikka biriyani. Please think before you order from this place.
Great food, especially the biriyanis. It was very crowded last I went. Maybe for that reason sort of unclean in some spots/tables. Try and sit towards the entrance, the seats in were less attended maybe and less clean.Expect crowd because food is very good. I dont know about right now with COVID, how crowded it could get.
Had it about 15 years ago it was too good, I dont what happened may be due to Covid ,the taste was not like before tired both Chicken and Mutton Briyani..The owner said they will move to near by new shop.Hope the old taste returns back.
Tasty dum biriyani. I like it
You must come and eat here. Kayees is a local spot. When my wife and I arrived here, we were the only non-indians. Before 5 PM they serve delicious snacks. We ordered the fish curry and chicken biryani, both of which were outstanding. We feasted and the bill came out to less than 250 INR. Great food and great value but dont expect creature comforts like AC.
I had a chicken Biriyani from here. As Im a nativer from Calicut we have so much different Biriyani centres. But this one is a classic one. Rice is different as well as the tasty buds herein. Great time I had.. taste it.. Ill give a 8 out of 10
One of the best biriyani spots in kochi
There is no dining facility now. Parcel is only available and its so tasty as before
Good food ... Dont think its worth for money
We came in hoping to taste their beef and mutton biriyani,. However they had already sold out. The seating is cramped, and even though there is a seperate section which can seat people, they have hung up a board stating Out of service which makes no sense since people are waiting to get a seat. They need to hire some more waiters. There were 2 waiters who had to run like a marathon within the restaurant to cater to every needs. But i really appreciate the service offered by those 2 waiters. We really did not have a good experience sitting at that restaurant since we dont know what, but our eyes were burning due to smoke or fumes, we really could not know what It was, as well as kids were crying since their eyes were burning. The biriyani rice was nice, however the chicken was hard as a rock. Hopefully they offer better service.
The actual taste of Kayikkas Biriyani I got from a wedding function. They had ordered kayees biriyani and I was astonished on the first byte on that biriyani. All the taste of spices included in that biriyani was present on that small byte. It was a feel that cannot be expressed. But I never feel it from the hotel. Donno why!! Anyway I felt in love with that biriyani π.Another dish I loved is beef roast. Good quantity with mouth watering taste. Less price compare to other hotels.Rush on every time, especially on holidays. Tourists will be the main customers on holidays.Taste 4.2/5Quality 4.5/5Service 4.0/5Ambiance 4.0/5Pricing 4.0/5-----------------Overall 4.2/5
This place serves one of the best biriyanis in Kerala. The biriyani they serve has got really good flavour and taste. The places is really crowded in the Eveng and afternoon. One bad thing about the restaurant I felt is that the the hotel has poor service. The waiters are less bothered abt the customers
Best biriyani in town.. yummy... Recommendable...
Our tuk-tuk driver dropped us off here for lunch and we got the Chicken Biryani & Mutton Roast as recommended by him, and it was amazing, then on a spice trail later in the evening our tour guide coincidentally ended our trip in the same restaurant and we decided to try the Parottas & Egg Roast, and.........IT BLEW MY MIND!!! The egg roast is to die for, immensely flavourful and not unnecessarily spicy and some of the best gravy Ive had, EVER!!!!, the Parottas are straight off the fire and complement the egg roast so well!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
The food was good and more over affordable the only issue is that there is no parking space. the road to restaurant is narrow and has only small amount of space for two wheelers. The places is soo crowded at noon and you have to wait for sometime. also they only accept cash, no cards or UPI payment available.
First is first I canβt take much detailed pictures because of the heavy rush and second I didnβt get the βBeefπ₯© Biriyaniβ because itβs not available there at that moment but I had there βChickenπ Biriyaniβ YEAH!! Itβs deliciousπ the chickenπ is very tender and juicy as well and it costs βΉ130/- and one thing, everyone says that itβs not the real taste of real βKayeeka Biriyaniβ and now itβs changed but I donβt knowπ€·ββοΈ the old taste because this is my first time visit and I liked itπ and they have βMuttonπ Biriyaniβ too in there menu, next time Muttonπ Biriyani for sureπ
If you come to Ernakulam then Kayees is a mandatory stop. Kaykkas biriyani is the best you can have in Ernakulam. The restaurant has other dishes also like kerala meals etc. The hotel is small but can seat min 50 person at once. If you come by a two wheeler then you can park by the road side. But there ia no seperate parking for 4 wheeler, you can only park in the road side. It is best to go there for lunch, you must get there by 1 PM otherwise you have to wait a while to have a seat because after 1:30 the place is crowded.
Not sure what happened. When I visited 3 weeks ago the biriyani, which the restaurant is famous was not even average. We actually drive more than 20-25 kms based on our past experience, which was awesome. Visited 3 times till now and this was our first bad experience. Also not offering a parking space. We had to park our car 2 km away and had to hire rikshaw to reach there.
We visited kayees after hearing a lot from different people regarding its famous biriyani but the taste was not like what we expected. Dont know exactly if it was because we had arrived at 3:20 and it was from the bottom and the rice had too much ghee or was some cooking issue on the day. But the restaurant was still crowded to 3 and lots of people had come from long distance to eat here. The food is served fast and cleaning is also good and fast. There is enough space to accommodate 30 people and since serving is fast there isnt a huge delay.
This has to be one of the best briyani ever ..Kayees Rahamathulla Cafe is a highly hyped hotel famous for its signature biriyani. The actual name of the hotel is Kayees Rahmathulla hotel and the signature biriyani they serve is known as Kayikkante biriyani.Started by V.K. Kayee, popularly known as Kayikka (Brother Kayee) who was a cook & waiter in the British army in 1940s. It is now run by kayeeβs son Mustafa & grandson Shabeer in two locations β the original hotel in Mattancherry & a hotel near Durbar Hall Ground, Ernakulam.I tried both the mutton & chicken briyani, and found the mutton briyani to be so flavourful so delicious. The spiced fried cauliflower and mutton masala was just as good, it was definitely worth every bite ..
A very great experience of biriyani. Being a Hyderabadi, I enjoyed the taste and content of the biriyani. They provide lemon pickle, tamarind pickle, onion and papas as biriyani accompaniments. Mutton n chicken biryani is available. The menu also has chicken, egg and beer roast. Rice with egg/chicken curry is also available. Do not expect AC restaurant ambience, but it is not too bad. The price is less. The hotel provides Jeera warn water which is so good for health and digestion. But there is parking problem.
Its hard to find out the hotel and parking facilities are low and one of their shop is on renovation. If you coming in a car just find out a parking location first. Better to take some cash on hand because they dont accept cards or even Google pay. The food was just awesome and the service was too good. Now the starting time is between 11:30 and i think it closes only at 3. If you are reading this then you must try it. Because its worth for your money. Chicken biriyani costs you around 140/- . Must try when you are at mattacheary.
Good BiriyaniButNo ParkingNo Online Payment options..and More over, Not Clean.I think they dont have fund to buy some Hand Wash. They are using a dish wash like liquid in empty sprite/cola bottles as hand wash...
For kochi special Biriyani lovers
The food was not that tasty as before. Quantity average. Bit overpriced for two small piece meat and little rice. We have to handwash several times to get rid of the oil. The cashier and staff were customer friendly. No online payment, no bill, no parking space..
One of the best Biryani outlet in the City .. Paratha and Beef curry also yummy
Had chicken biryani from mattancherry outlet. Reasonable price. Pickles also tasted good to me. May face issue in parking vehicles because the road is narrow.
Authentic kochi biriyani...famous for their mutton biriyani. Biriyani from 12pm...
Not the old Kayikkas it used to be. The taste is OK, but lack that old charm. I tasted both Mutton and Chicken. Mutton was worse. I thought it would give me a heart attack for sure. I put it on a steel plate and two minutes after i finished the Dalda or the low quality ghee started getting thicker. This was the worst plate washing experience in my life. I literally had to spend 8 minutes to wash that plate clean. Then i thought of the damage it would have done to my body. The same dalda / ghee would have accumulated on the walls of my organs too paving way for a future cardiac arrest.PS: No Card swiping machine.
Are you a Biryani lover??! then this is the heaven, the perfect place, the place which you were searching for. You will get the Delicious & Tastiest Biriyani in entire Fort Kochi and Mattancheri may be in the world because I loved it thus much. They are famous by the name kayikkas biriyani(ΰ΄ΰ΄Ύΰ΄―ΰ΄Ώΰ΄ΰ΅ΰ΄ΰ΄Ύΰ΄Έΰ΅ ബിരിയാണി) made of ultra smooth rice π. Their special dish is Mutton Biryani This special dish will run-out by the time around 01.30pm, that much demand it have, if you want it, then you should be there before 1pm. A small shop with a huge crowd. Nothing to say more about their Biriyani Heavy tastππ» seriously something different, loved !tπ. They dont serve beef Biriyani, their Biryani is very special than any other Biryani shops in Fort Kochi and Mattancheri, also decent customer service ππ». Not so expensive. But the hand wash area is little bit congested, except that, everything is fine. The first thing that I heard when I started working in Fort Kochi was about this shop kaayikkas biriyani shop because Im a foodholicπ then I felt like I should taste it, and thats how I came here. Now Im a daily customer, atleast Ill go once a week thereπPls note, it is a heavily crowded place. No parking area is provided, you should use the streets nearby.Attached the menu with the review; it maybe helpful.
Loved it for its biriyani π
Everything about this place is awesome and the only downside I could see is finding parking on the intricate roads of Mattanchery.
Name which in itself is famous-kayees- known to be pioneer in kerala biriyani makers.. ordered d famous mutton biriyani- moderate quantity.. 2 big pieces of mutton along with pickles n salads n pappadam. not spicy but every grain of rice is coated in d rich fat of d mutton. i liked it fine but not worth visiting again- itz my opinion- i like my biriyanis on d spicier side.. went ter at 1 30pm- it was d rush hr- hav 2 stand for more than 20 min just to get a seat- ten another 15 to place order, then another 10 to get d food.. it was okay
One of the best Malabar style biriyani shop. Small little place with authentic taste and flavor. Grt value for money too.
One of the tastiest biriyani in kochi.
Mutton curry was so delicious perfect masala combination
Only issue is with parking. .No parking places even in near by roads ..Have to park car somewhere else along the roadside ..and after this very crowdy inside the Hotel..but Biriyani is too good , price is affordable and quantity is ok only ..
Serving tasty food. Crowd and consistency is there. Compared to city kayees mattancheri is far far good
One of the best biryani available in Kochi...
If u r searching best biriyanis in kochi.. u must try kayikkas.. Delicious amazing food.. its very crowded in weekends nd holidays.. Waiting for table is a hilarious task.u can buy parcels.. its a local shop never expect..Very professional services.. But neat.. Prices not so high
Mutton Roast Pwoli β₯οΈ Chicken Biriyani 8/10.
Best briyinani place for who ever came to visit cochin. One of the oldest and the best in the business.
I eaten Mutton Biriyani from here. Very delicious. Staffs are very friendly.Cafe is in a crowded road.Price of mutton biriyani - βΉ190Price of chicken biryani - βΉ120
Typical kochi style biryani is served, dont expect a great experience as per the hype. The taste might not be liked by everyone.
One of the iconic food destination in Kochi.... had biriyani (Chicken) and cutlets.both are so good.
Good Food.. Good Vibe π€©
Tastey food and good service. Mutton biryani is excellent
Very special biryani .....I loved it very much. A very simple but neat and clean atmosphere restaurant. Chicken biriyani was scrumptious and delicious. The Pappad and pickle combination gives a wonderful complement to the main course . One more sweet and sour sauce with onion salad makes the food a very special one . Mouth watering dish this is really . Biriyani is soaked with ghee and the aroma and the taste of the ghee stay in the taste buds for a long .Wonderful experience.Parking is the problem here .
Awesome mutton Briyani. Well cooked so soft meat. Completely different taste. Full ghee with pineapple. Price 170rp. But very less seats. Worthy. Sure will go again.
Delicious biryani.. Reach early else theres chances of it getting over..Very good place.
Kochis favorite biryani. They keep their signature still and always.
Ambience was average, been there for mutton biryani, stuff was finished by 2 pm, please note it, so had a plate of chicken biryani which was the last, God saved me π, taste was unique as compared to other biryani hotels, chicken was smooth, with well balanced spice, about the basmati rice which was more than enough to fill your tummy, splendid experience cost me Rs.130
Ambience -3.5 πFood-4 πService-4 πMy friend took me here as it is one of the most popular joints to have biryani in fort Kochi, well I am not sure if I agree with that. Dont get me wrong it has good biryani but the chicken was dry ,almost as if they cooked the previous day chicken. Didnt taste so fresh but that date chutney was amazing π
Really nice Motton Biriyani. Sooo tasty. Everyone should try once.
A popular biriyani spot in Kerala. With huge expectation went to taste the mutton biriyani here. Was late to reach the spot which made me adjust with chicken biriyani( mutton got over). Was a different biriyani with lots of spices. Its a average normal biriyani. Dint reach my expectation. Still u guys try this may u find it tasty.
Totally dissappointing experience. When there at 2 45 pm. Only chicken biriyani was available. It comes with salad, dates pickle ( was good) and a red colored pickle (which was horrible, taste of degraded oil).Had 2 pieces of chicken, both pieces had meat which was very fibre like and had blant taste. Really didnt understand what the hype is all about.
The ultimate name for biriyani in Kochi that was kayikkas biriyani for the people of Kochi. Located in Mattanchery. The main attraction is the authentic Dum biryani they serve here which is a rarity in Kochi these days as well. They have chicken mutton and prawns biryani too available.
Best biriyani in town !Go for it once and youll come back again for sure. The rice is of good flavour and the chicken is so soft and good. One of the best biriyanis Ive ever had.
No words β€οΈ. The best biriyani in kochi. But I doubt that the taste doesnt keep up with its former pioneers. Had to wait for about a half hour but it was completely worth it... Must try for new comers.....
One of the tasty Biriyani in Kochi.
