One of the best airports Ive ever been to. Traditional architecture unlike the bland modern architecture of every other airport in the country. The washrooms were way cleaner than anywhere else. Ample seating and good food inside. Although the airport is smaller than other international airports in India, it feels so much better.
It is the busiest and the largest airport in the state of Kerala. As of 2019, the Cochin International Airport caters to 61.8% of the total air passenger movement in Kerala. It is the eighth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic and also eighth busiest overall. In fiscal year 2018–19, the airport handled more than 10.2 million passengers with a total of 71,871 aircraft movements. The airport operates three passenger terminals and one cargo terminal with a total area of over 225,000 square metres (2,421,880 sq ft). In 2015, Cochin International Airport became the worlds first fully solar powered airport with the inauguration of a dedicated solar plant. For this entrepreneurial vision, the airport won the coveted Champion of the Earth award in 2018, the highest environmental honour instituted by the United Nations. The airport was awarded The Best Airport in Asia-Pacific in 2020 (5 to 15 million passengers per annum) by Airports Council International.
Cochin International Airport, Kerala, India is located in Nedumbassery in Ernakulam District. Its one of the largest airports in Kerala and the eighth largest in India in terms of International traffic. The airport is popular for traditional Kerala architecture, vast parking, ground movements and sustainability features, being the worlds first fully solar powered airport, a rare fete achieved in 2015. The Airport was really recognized for this incredible distinction with the Champion of the Earth Award, the highest honor bestowed by United Nations in 2018. Its a very convenient airport for tourists traveling to Ernakulam, Fort Cochin, Kottayam, Alleppey, Trichur, Palakkad etc.CIAL has three terminals, T1, T2 and T3, apart from the Cargo Terminal. Its a very well constructed and connected Airport with pretty good Immigration and Customs facilities, limited number of shops and eateries, now due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. It has a Duty Free Shop, besides a Lounge access for Domestic passengers. The lounge service is very poor and not at all user friendly mainly due to non-acceptance of Global Credit Cards and acceptance solely of a few Indian branded Denit or Credit Cards and that too, Platinum Cards. No Indian Basic Cards, for instance, an SBI Classic Card is accepted, contrary to what the Bank claims! This was very very disappointing for me, apart from charging nearly Rs.1,300.00 for a few minutes, if not hours, if you didnt have the exact Card or any other alternatives. I decided not to spend so much of money which was quite expensive within a short time before boarding your domestic flight after going through the crazy CISF/Security Checks (multiple) where they dont even have the slightest concern or knowledge as to the pending Boarding time left for the airlines or whether most of these passengers would even have to use the restrooms, buy something or even grab a bite before their upcoming flights! I found this very rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful towards all of the passengers which I witnessed myself. This was some sort of a harassment in spite of much needed security protocols which I always adhere to. It was ridiculous and frustrating!😰 Enough of that.Indigo, the airline which I flew doesnt even provide a drink let alone hot beverages like Tea or Coffee. They expect you to prepay for your meals at the time you book your tickets, apart from paying extra for a seat preference, if you have one! So, I had to buy a Tea and a Sandwich which was a bit expensive within the short time I had after the Security Checks fiasco! They wont even accept any Global Credit Cards, except for Indian branded Cards or cash. I thought this was very poor Customer Service and inconvenient for passengers, especially if he or she was a passenger! Luckily, I had enough cash and I had to have food since my flight was two and a half hours duration or more, if it was even delayed and of course, excluding another long trip or ride to my hotel from the destination airport.Next comes Indigos pre-boarding exercise. Each passenger, apart from wearing a face mask has to wear a face shield provided by the airline at the time of the boarding in process. This is something which was being done for Kerala bound international and Kerala departing domestic flights as well as part of COVID restrictions. They were also providing medical similar gowns and something which I didnt think were compulsory to be worn before boarding and were given to the only passengers who insisted it. Boarding was done 50 minutes before the actual departure time at Kochi at 6:40 P.M. If you were a person who also wore glasses, apart from the masks, you could hardly see your seat numbers in the aisle and directly just below the overhead compartment. This was because the face shield was all foggy! Due to other traffic and awaiting clearance and even before the start of taxi on the runway, the passengers were all seated with no air-conditioning, let alone, water!CIAL has impeccable floors, good
The first fully solar-powered airport in the world. The customer service is great here and the parking bay is very vast. At present, few shops inside the airport are not operating due to the pandemic. While travelling to Hyderabad, the authorities didnt ask for my covid negative certificate but while arriving from Hyderabad the authorities asked for the certificate. So its better to carry a covid-19 test report and if you are fully vaccinated carry that certificate too. Thank you.
This is a very nice airport to be in! Love the use of wood and the comfortable sofa seats in the general waiting lounge. And the staff is quite helpful and up-to-the-task, too. Doesnt have too many places to eat at, but the ones that exist should be enough for travellers coming/going through the airport.
Cochin international Airport.... amazing ....Everything is exceptionally well maintained.Terminal 3 is just wow 👏.....This Airport is completely run by solar power and its a great sight watching those solar panels from top....spacious parking, good terminals with all facilities, friendly staff ....My experience was good.
Airport is very nice specious. Complete heigene and covid protocols are maintained. Snacks like chips are too costly. Dryfruits are too.Better to purchase from outside before entry.
Very well arranged beautiful Airport. Indias busiest Airport with fully powered by Solar Energy. Clean and kept good environment. For visitors, the Washrooms are available in Departures & Arrivals too.Parking area is also utilized by the Airport Authority with Solar Panels covered on Shelters. Good visionary behind this All good Efforts.
We boarded the plane Air Asia from the KLIA2 around 1150 pm Malaysia time and arrived at Kochi International Airport around 11.15 pm India Time, 4 hours and 10 minutes. It was a pleasant flight our 16th times so far to Kochi. We usually come as pilgrims and a attended retreats at the Divine Retreat Centre Potta in Chalakudy Kerala. Beautiful Airport. Friendly Customs at the check point and friendly people all the way to the hotel and our stay at Kerala. We thank God & Praise him for his great blessings on us and upon all our families, friends and relatives. and most of all we always offer prayers for world peace.
Cochin international keeps improving year on year. With the entire experience of stepping through the entrance all the way to stepping onto the aircraft and visa versa being amongst the smoothest and least angst inducing in the world. What it lacks in glitz and gimmicks it makes up for by being a surprisingly functional, clean and airy airport.
This is an international airport serving the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Its about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of the city. The airport is maintained properly. Its very clean and this is one of the few airports in India which has solar plant. Most of the flights for major cities can be booked from here. The airport has very huge parking facility.
Security will beat that of a high security prison.. too good with what they do... Even if it means them going above and beyond their call of dutyWorth a laugh..but..on the flip side ..a job well done..Marvelous experience..No complaints.. really well maintained airport..
World class airport, also the worlds first solar powered airport. Plenty of space for parking (parking charges are there, Rs 80 for 2 hours). terminal 1 for domestic and terminal 2 and 3 for international travel.outside is modelled after traditional kerala style architecture which is a standout feature.
The feeling when you know that CIAL is the only airport completely powered by solar power.Clean energy , green energy. How cool is that.?It was a great experience.
Easy access from around the state by private and public transport methods.Even without others help its easy to move to where we wanted because of the information provided by the sign boards placed all over the airport is very accurate. The airport is Well organised and maintained .The staffs contribute a great amount dedication to keep the place under control with large number of the inbound and outbound flights and passengers even in this Pandemic.
Its a superb international Airport with a great Kerala cultural touch in structure and ambience. They could have focused on Public transport facilities availability. The Airport lacks proper infra with respect to public transport.Travelling public with medium or less luggage look for public transport. Sad part is there arent many options even to get to nearest junction., which 5km away called Athani junction. All modes of transport are available there.I have met couple of celebrities too 😀😀
It was really a nice experience in the airport. The place was well deciplined and easy to understand. The toilets are very clean and well maintained. And the staffs were also friendly
Neat clean organised efficient are the first few words that come to mind.. post that I can add that it’s beautiful architecture inside and outside.. there’s a lot of wooden work that adds to the beauty and charm of this lovely airport.. the amenities are modern and staff super helpful and supportive.. overall a wonderful experience
One of the finest Airports in the country and, in my honest opinion the most beautiful one Ive seen yet. Hats off to the Client and the Architect to pull off such a traditional approach to the entire airport, its accessibility, decor, services and well laid out signages. Thoroughly impressed by the choice of furniture at the Gates for flyers and also has a great bar & lounge. Hats off to the maintenance team to keep it spic and span.
Really good experience. Very neat , humble staff, all covid protocol s were properly done.
Small and Clean..One of the best airports I have ever seen . Its Indias first airport fully powered by solar energy.
It is the busiest and the largest airport in the state of Kerala. As of 2019, the Cochin International Airport caters to 61.8% of the total air passenger movement in Kerala. It is the eighth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic and also eighth busiest overall. This is the first airport in the world that operates completely on solar power. You visit other airports of india and visit this airport, I am sure you will find something special in this airport. First green field airport in the country. Everything is made by woods.
Good airport with modern infrastructure facilities. We can see Kerala traditional statues and monuments inside the Airport. The statue of Elephant also gives majestic look.
Beautiful decor. Neatly maintained. The coffee shop kiosk is run by KUDUMBASHREE SHG . VERY REASONABLE COFFEE. JUST RS 5 PER CUP.!@@ AIRPORT!!!@????
Very efficient and smooth operations during COVID time.Highly recommended.
Best example of development.keeps upgrading week by week.Best airport with best in class service. Also worlds first solar powered airport which is personal pride to mallus.
One of the neat Clean teddy airport in kerala
Functionally efficient modern airport.Extremely stringent security screening at the x-ray machines. Good food court and decent lounge.
A very good airport neat & clean
Very clean..staff cordial..parking system very much streamline..pillars are given numbers so that its easy for passengers. Excellent seating arrangements..
The most advanced airports in india ... The whole power is generated by solar power. The airport having a huge car parking facility available.having separate international terminals and domestic terminals. Now having pcr test inside the airport.Prepaid taxi service available in the international airport and I think its little bite expensive.Duty paid section having less collection of alcohol ,spray, chocolate, beer, creams and other items.
This airport is functioning completely using solar power. Previously there was only one terminal. Terminal 1 is for domestic travel and terminals 2&3 are for international travel.
Yesterday we used airport services of cochin.frankly it was very bad and waited for longtime even during this corona time. There was no consideration for any category. No directions, no social distancing, no hand hygiene services or any kind of caring. All peoples are waiting in long queue, every counters.Overall very stinking services we experienced.
The best international airport in Kerala. There are three terminals in the airport. T1 is for domestic flights and T2& T3 are for international flights. Airport is supported by solar energy. There is ample parking lots available there. After taking entry pass, for the first 10 minutes no charges are payable. How ever from 11 th minutes up to Two hours, fee for being inside airport compound/parking inside Airport being charged Rs. 80. Vegetables produced from solar panel yards are also being sold here.
The arrangements seems fine. But sanitizing the areas where passengers use seems feable.
Just amazing 🤩 It is the busiest and the largest airport in the state of Kerala and The airport was awarded The Best Airport in Asia-Pacific in 2020 also it is the world’s first fully functional airport using Solar system
Worlds first fully Solar Power based airport. And thats really economical and good for environment. Also the infrastructure is so neat, it looks great. Everything is well organised by airport authority.
Excellent airport. First solar airport
Very good experience... Hassle free movement.. And free covid test for international arrivals...
Cochin international airport is the world’s first fully solar power plant project
Solar powered and very well organized. Small but a really beautiful airport
Lovely place. Wonderful woodwork and paintings. Absolutely neat and clean. The fact that it 100% operates on solar energy is really a enchanting. Very soothing experience.
Really clean airport and staff is friendly too.
Simple little airport. They derive most of their electric needs through a large solar farm which is excellent. The banana chips we bought here were better than the ones we bought in town 😂. Its very neat and not crowded at all. The interior spaces are well organized as well. Its not as big as the other international airports in the country and It has a lot of potential to grow.
The completely solar powered airport in India. Undoubtedly its one of the best airport in the India. And the best in Kerala , connecting people to all over the world. The facilities provided are simple and top class. Though the shopping opportunities are less in both arrival and departure terminals, whatever provided are useful.
It is the busiest and the largest airport in the state of Kerala. As of 2019, the Cochin International Airport caters to 61.8% of the total air passenger movement in Kerala. It is the eighth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic and also eighth busiest overall. One of the best International Airports that I have travelled. The overall experience was very good. Excellent airport with excellent facilities and friendly staff.Business Class Lounge was excellent. Food was amazing.Wishing CIAL all the best for the future...
Great infrastructure, Great ambience and Great services. Its been happy to travel to and from Cochin Airport all the time
Good service with modern infrastructure. A vast parking space under solar panels protects customers vehicle from sunlight. Eco friendly airport with renewable energy. Pick up/ drop off time of vehicles after entry is only 10min, it can be increased to 15 atleast. Well structured building to help domestic and international travellers to check in easily.
Its neet and clean. Authentic keral style.
Wonderful palce .Staff is so freindly and helpful. Maintains extra neatness compared to other indian airports. Duty free also so good. It uses its own generated solar power that the first airport to use renewable energy for its operations. Location is also good that it can be developed to large airport in future. There are three terminals. Terminal three is new one created for international operations and its such a marvellous creation 😊😊😊
Cochin Airport is very good clean sanitized properly at time to time . I personally suggest to travel to kerala with the said protocol The Aviation staff and the ground staff takes very good care of travellers. There are lounge to get you refresh bar also available. The first airport to have solar panels above car parking. Most seen women empowered in airport
World first fully solar powered air portMostly used in KeralaAmazing feeling in there 😊
One of the best airport in india
Green, clean and efficient! Such a lovely Airport! 😬
The airport is quite and nice ambiance. Their housekeeping is satisfactory. Also there is a dedicated meditation facility provided at departure.Theyve installed drinking water taps for public. Hot, cold and normal water taps are available. Normaly we could not see them in the other airports as they rent a place for huge money and the shop keeper used to sell a water bottle for huge price. The airport is installed with 10MW solar panels. There was only one cafeteria available during my visit which offered few variety of foods(refer the pic with menu & prices)
It is one of the best Airport in South India. The surrounding area is all clean and beautiful. Even toilet is very clean and fresh. The parking availability is high. The security is very tight and strict. The shops in the area were branded and have good quality products. There are busses and AC buses transportation available. The rent a car service is also available. Stairs for disabled were available. They have high security in parking area.
Passenger friendly airport ... gets cleared without much hassles ...bigger display boards preferred ...
One of the best airport with great ambiance and service.
1. Beautiful decorations & interiors.2. Cleaned as I slept for sometimes on the edge.3. Well connection by bus for rest of city but frequency is not good.
International standards...Worlds first airport fully powered by solar power....! Certainly India can take pride for walking the talk as far as clean energy is concerned.Clean and good ambience both inside and out.Great parking facility. Nice seating arrangements. Clean washrooms.Very good customer service at the front.A very well maintained airport.
One of the best international airport in Kerala.Neat and clean airport.Great parking facility. Nice seating arrangements.Clean washrooms.Very beautiful view in night.
This is one the best Airport in India if not the best.Very well maintained.
What a lovely place and lovely vibe! The sunset and evening vibes here are amazing. I visited airport in covid times and many shops were closed although it was a very good experience. The airport has its own cultural vibes too. The airports all terminale are close to no issue of missing out on t1 t2 t3 etc.The cooling system inside airport seemed low, maybe because of the less crowdOverall good but can free water outlets like available at other airports
Good nice place to view .and travel
Believe this airport is the worlds or at least Indias first 100% solar energy run airport, that is quite an advance Id say. Imagine there is a large battery/power storage for consumption during the non energy producing hours.Other than that, this airport is large, well laid out, clean, well lit, and well kept. Service is friendly and accommodating. You can get prepaid taxis from inside or outside the airport. They have comfortable premium lounges with fresh and flavorful food options.
One of the best airport in IndiaWell maintained airportInterior design is very goodIndias first airport with solar panelsVery neat and clean maintenance of housekeepingVery large place for parking, cabs are very reasonable prices airport to MunnarOutstanding experience with airportWith lot of memories ... After covid lockdown, i was traveled from kochi to hyd .Superb experience and great staff, well maintained airport premises. this airport running on solar energy !
Very good welcome at cochi International Airport, kerala traditional you can enjoy at this airport.
One of the best airport in India. Equipped with Solar Energy. Architecture is awesome. Domestic and International Flights operates from here. Taxi service available 24x7. Located away approximate of 32 to 35 kilometres from Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. Equipped with wide range of products in International Duty Free. staffs are very friendly and polite at airport. Lounge access is available. mobile recharge counters and currency exchange SBI, Federal Bank and other counters adjacent also there inside the airport. enough parking space available for bikes and cars. Cafeteria also there inside and outside of airport. Equipped with viewing terminal. lifts accessibility is available.
One of the best airports in India with a true exhibition of how an Indian architecture and that too of southern India looks like. It has got lots of facilities, various shops, cafes, restaurant, liquor stores, etc. VIP lounges are also clean and staff is very cooperative. It has a completely different ambiance from other airports which gives you feel of an Indian tradition and architecture.
Hygienic,Well managed/organised, Eco-friendly, Fully high tech etc. These are the words that can be used to describe about this Airport. Those who travel to kerala must register in Jagratha portal(Transit: domestic/International). Otherwise you will have to wait until you complete the Jagratha registration process at the security point.
Cochin was fine. I liked the sofas spaced out so we could chill within safe distance of each other, but the baggage check officials are a little too cryptic and curt. I had to wait for ages to take my bag back when it was RIGHT there, and they werent even explaining what went wrong. I know they would be stressed too, but it would be nice to know why my bag has been taken out. GOOD
Awesome, clean. Entire airport is on Solar Energy
Best to Splendid.... Love to travel thru Cochin....
Very beautiful airport. The traditional touch everywhere in airport is amazing 👏
Cochin International Airport in Gods own country,One of the best Solar powered Airport in India.
