We crossed the Bhagirathi river from Sadar ghat by boat. The charge of the ferry service was @ ₹6/- per person for the return journey and and the same for the Toto ₹40/-. Our Toto also crossed with us in the same boat. Our destination was Khosbag. Mango trees on two sides of the road gave us guard of honour. We did not feel the hot temperature. We reached at the family grave of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Daulah at Khosbagh, meaning Garden of Happiness, on the western side of Bhagirathi. The entry fee was @ 2/- per person. A person accompanied us as a guide with no charge. The display board at the entrance of Khosbagh informs that the area is 7.65 acre and surrounded by high wall of 2471 ft long.Once 108 types of rose bloomed here.Khosbagh was built by Alivardi Khan and much later after Siraj’s death; it was maintained by Lutf-un-nisa. Khosbagh is very well maintained and very clean and peaceful. Our guide showed the grave of Nawab Alivardi Khan inside a mausoleum surrounded by varanda. At the bottom of the said grave there lies Siraj and at the bottom of Sirajs grave his wife Lutf-un-nisav is rested. There are several graves belonging to the family of Siraj but only the graves inside the mausoleum has been identified. The Grave of Sirja ud daulah is easily identified from the plaque adjacent to it. By the side of Siraj is the grave of his own brother Mirza Mehendi. Adjacent Lutfunissa is the grave of Mirza Mehendi’s Wife. The grave of Sharf-un-Nisa, wife of Ali Vardi’s is on the southern side of his husband’s grave. He showed two graves outside the mausoleum as that of Amina Begum and Ghaseti Begum. I dont think the statement is authentic. There is no supporting documents about it. As per the display board there is a grave of Danish Fakir, who was killed by the British.Khosbag also has a Mosque inside it. At the time of our visit the gate of the Masjid was closed. It seemed that maintanence work was going on.
