Visited Wicksteed at War as a family of four and it was a fantastic day out. Loads of stalls and war memorabilia and people dressed in war time clothing. Lots to see and do. Didnt need to spend loads to have a great time. After we had looked at everything the children played in the park which was very large and is correctly being updated. If you do want to spend more then the rides are very reasonably priced and a good range for all ages. Plenty of food and drink outlets too.Overall a great day out.
A wonderful day out. My granddaughter enjoyed every second of it. I first visited the park in 1951 as a 7 year old and had fond memories. I was in my childhood again on the train ride. Oh such lovely memories. Thank you to everyone there for a great day out..
Something for everyone. Very clean and well laid out. Excellent catering facilities and very reasonable prices quality food. Staff friendly and helpful. Fantastic day out.Plenty of parking, shame only two parking ticket machines and only one working, phone to pay rubbish.
Lovely place to visit and so much for the kids. You pay to park (at the end of your visit) and then you just pay for ride passes which are fabulous value. Our 12 years old got a full ride pass for about £17 and could go any ride as many times as they wanted. Lots of rides and things to do for preschoolers and school age children. Great running around space, good dog walking (the lake is really pretty) and the fish and chip shop was delicious and well priced!
We were there for the Wicksteed at war event, brilliantly organised. The park itself is a superb place for our 3 yr old grandson to play safely
Very good day out. Bought the wristbands worth every penny. Lots of rides for children and adults to enjoy together. Lovely that parts are free and you can buy single tickets to use on a ride. Would recommend love Lake to walk round.
Wheelchair accessible and disabled parking spaces no steps, but when youre walking around there are rocky patches. They do have events on throughout the year, which are always worth a visit. Only downside is theres only one parking pay machine so queue is always long. They need to invest in at least another parking machine to make it quicker to pay for parking when you leave.
Absolutely fantastic day. Lovely well looked after grounds, so much space you feel good. Queues were not too long and the staff all friendly. Reasonable price, good value for money. Have been going for nearly 50 years and still love it. Introduced young nieces who thought it was thrilling!
Awesome day out with the kids. The park is very well maintained and the rides are suitable for kids. Queue times are reasonable. There were some rides which were closed due to staff shortages. There are some really good play areas for kids with sand pits. Would highly recommend. There are parking charges to pay.
Lovely open space. Not expensive. Good for all the family. Very entertaining.
Plenty to do for all ages. The wristbands for the rides are priced quite high - £20 for and adult and £17 per child. I would suggest checking what a smaller child would be able to go on due to height restrictions, and they are very keen, and perhaps purchase individual tickets. There are two areas to the theme park - one at the bottom end and another area near to the play park. This area contains rides more suitable for smaller children.Plenty of room to picnic and many people take awnings and gazebos.Food and drink available from a number of outlets.Parking charges vary but the maximum is £6 for over 3 hours. All in all a great day out. Plenty of open space for everyone to play games.Would highly recommend.
One for the younger ones. Nice big park that you can roam around without paying except for parking which is up to £6.40. You can get an annual car park pass for £40. Some rides are the equivalent of 3 individual tickets so youre better off buying a wrist band. Good eating options, benches and some tables dotted around. Staff were young but well trained, professional and very helpful. The whole area is also very clean with no bird poo on benches, etc. We got there late at about 1.00 and we could have done with a couple more hours.
Little one had a fantastic day. Wristband and parking prices are good. The boating lake area and ex rides are a shadow of there past and depressive hopefully there are plans for this area. Train is still as good as before but unfortunately goes around the run down boating lake. Still a good day out in the new areas.
A good place to visit with kids, however it is too pricey for what they offer. The park itself Has a wast area where you can enjoy your day off with children. The rides are quite limited, therefore I would not purchase the wristbands next time.
Awful. A huge disappointment from a place I loved as a child in the 80s/90s. Needs a huge cash injection to renovate, fix and improve or they may as well close it. Not enough staff, run by children and queues ridiculous for even the most patient of people. 3hrs there for 2 basic rides for our children after paying for wristbands. Daylight robbery.
All ways a great day out for the whole family currently adding new attractions for the 2022 season
Wonderful day out. Recommended for familys of all ages
Took grandchildren ages 7,9 and 13yrs. Plenty for the two younger ones, not so much for 13yr old. Great place to go though, didnt have time to do gardens and grounds, thats another trip without the grandchildren. My only disappointment is that it wasnt made clear on the website that you can enter the park without tickets, we now know for next time.
Had a great day out with my family at Wicksteed park. We took a picnic and purchased wristbands for our grandchildren and bought a few tickets for the adults in our party as we found this the cheapest option .The children thoroughly enjoyed the rides and the trip on the train around the park.An enjoyable day and well worth a visit.
Absolute sham, not enough time to go on rides because of queues, therefore wrist bands are a waste of money. The car park ticket queue bad only 2 machines. Also waited nearly 45 mins on entry as the card machines you use are useless, even booking online makes no difference to waiting. The amount raked in from people, you would have thought a better system. Have not been for a few years, will never come again.
Use to go when o was a small child and still doesnt disappointed love it.
Went on a class trip and it was good. The rides were short, but great fun, the staff members were very polite and friendly. It took us by surprise that the rides stopped at 3pm. The service at the ice cream store was super slow, we wasted a lot of time there. Generally a clean, well looked after and good size park.
Not quite the same as I remember, but this park needs all the support you can give. This is part of Ketterings heritage and the grounds are beautiful.Lovely garden areas.
Just a simple place with open land, u can go on the rides or like we did this time went at around 5pm when quieter, me teenagers and dog, took a chip shop tea, had a walk around and spent time on the play ground. Lovely evening had by all
Great enviroment, weekend of the 40s display. Well organised despite it being very very busy. Some improvements taking place in childrens play area. Good value parking.
This is a young childs dream and a parents beautiful delight. Even if you dont buy tickets or a wrist band to get on the theme park like rides (imagine the first ever of their type and then imagine more wood and rope than you thought) you still have the huge play area with loads to do. The massive green grass landscape to eat a picnic on and relax and the walk along the train track and river as well, all free and marvelous. Now even though there is lots to do thats free the rides are awesome. Especially for the young ones, great gateway park for the future adrenaline seekers. The longest queue is always the train which makes sense since its legally a requirement to go on everytime you visit...well it should be. Bring your own food and drinks, have a day out and only pay the £3 parking if enjoying the swings n stuff is all you need.
Always a pleasure. First time in a long time but still as lovely as ever, with some new additions. The playground and train were our favourites
Excellent place to take kids. Lots of fun rides. The only reason that its four stars is that they charged us full price even though they closed early at 3pm instead of 5pm. Appreciate it was when the schools were still open but why not a discounted ticket?
We had a great time, there is plenty to do for people of all ages. The whole park was very clean and welcoming. We bought wrist bands as some of the rides cost more than one token so wrist bands are definitely more cost effective if you are going on several rides. Some of the popular rides had very long queue times but the children felt the rides were worth it. My only complaint is that the toilets werent as clean as i would have liked. They werent filthy but this could be improved. Also there was only one toilet block open in the whole park. This was inconvenient and is something I feel needs to be addressed.on the whole We had an amazing day, if you are taking little ones, bring nappies 😃
Perfect for the under 10s.... ok, so its not Alton Towers, but it delivers great value for money and lots of rides suitable for little ones. The two kids with me were excited from the minute they arrived and were still buzzing at the end. Definitely recommended
Had a nice day here great for kids and to have a walk and a picnic when the weather is good 👍
A very pleasant day out. Lots to see and do. Good parking, lots of facilities, lots of wide open spaces. Plenty for children to do
I’m so happy that Wicksteed Park has managed to reopen after the financial troubles of the pandemic. It is worth being patient and open minded when going to Wicksteed at the moment as it seems to be a work in progress getting out with the old and in with the new. Wicksteed offer a very cheap day family day out and you get a lot for your money. Parks, animals, rides, take a picnic… it makes a nice change from a theme park which is very expensive and more about queuing up all day. We will definitely be going back to Wicksteed!
We initially went to this park in May but we have been coming here for years and literally generations. Have always loved the park and the fact that it was a good mixture of rides and lovely greenery and walking areas. However in May we didnt have a very good experience. I have an autistic son who struggles with queues and we felt that the park was understaffed and did not communicate the option of a queue pass when we bought our DLA and carer ticket. We left the park feeling a bit deflated and that we had wasted our money.Saying this I would like to praise the customer service team, particularly the creative manager David Kettle who was very well mannered, sympathetic and is very open to taking on board any feedback for improvement. He offered us a complimentary return visit. We just went yesterday and I have to say had a much better experience. A few of the rides could do with maybe two people on there to speed things up such as the paratroopers and the mini rangers. But they have put a lot of improvements in place such as online ticket bookings which reduced queue times. This park is actually really lovely, more for families with younger kids under 12, there arent any rides for the thrill seekers but the rides that they do have the kids (8, 7 and 5) really enjoyed. They always have a super time when they go. And they have a huge playground area which they love too.I am hoping they take on board my suggestion about the queue pass for disabled/special needs guests. Its not enough to have just one person allowed on a ride with that person. Other parks acknowledge the fact that these guests want to go on a ride with their other relatives and therefore usually allowed 3/4 people on with the guest.
I’d not been to Wicksteed in a while but decided to go on my birthday during the summer holidays to give the kids something fun to do.Since we last went, a couple of years ago, it’s changed quite a bit. The bottom area with the monorail is almost desolate. The monorail has gone (fine by me because I don’t like them anyway 😂) but it seems like a pretty pointless area now. The thrill ride area isn’t much good for little ones. No more Go-Carts. It just didn’t feel the same. The playground is excellent. We bought both my boys a wrist band each (5 and 13) and the 13 year old didn’t use his at all. Next time I’d pay the £6 parking, play in the playground and use the park for a picnic and football and perhaps buy a few tickets for the train ride and smaller rides for the youngest.
Excellent, children loved it. Safe and clean. Expected queues but not too bad except foe ice cream parlour youngster on her own for quite a while but she did really well. Will go again.
Easy to find, enough parking & a great location for parkrun.
War display weekend well worth a visit dont miss it next time and its FREE.
Not quite how I remember it but we all loved it. We took the dog for the first time, she was quiet scared by the noise of the roller coasters so we stayed on the grass and played while everyone else went to that section. Very spaced out and clean.Had the weather with us too - not too hot but not too cold. Very pleasant family day out
Loved it. But I think you should get some sit on bike that ride four people would be great way to get around the park. Hire these out for the day would be a great income
This place is full of history and a wonderful place for memories. Love the mix of modern and classic rides. Lots of outdoor space for pinics/walks/bikes. Lots of parking.
Good for the kiddos but most of it was shut due to time of the year
I am a big fan of the range especially the plants, but was bitterly disappointed, all the plants at the front of the shop and in the garden centre area were all dying due to lack of water, it was a real shame, a little watering would have perked them up and made them saleable. I know it was a warm day but they were all bone dry, obviously hadnt been watered for some time, hence I didnt buy any and heard a few people expressing the same opinion. 😪😪
Its the first time l had been back in over 25years, my how its changed! All the staff were friendly and helpful, place was clean and tidy.It all seemed very cold with the iron playground. But gone was the magic of the original wicksteeds park ,3 big slide, witches hat, iron horse. The boats on the lake, the Lido. Wonder what Mr Wicksteed would think of it now?
Nice little park, lots of stuff for younger kids to do. I knocked a star off for the stench in the gents. Seriously, I thought Id been maced going in, my eyes were streaming....Anyway, aside from that, its an ideal place to take the kids for the afternoon. I recommend it whole heartedly (but go for a wee before you come, dont drink anything, and hold it til you get home).
Had a great day. Wasnt to busy, managed to do all the rides we wanted to, most more than once. There was only 2 sets of toilets open. Next time wed take a picnic as there are loads of places to sit and enjoy and the carpark isnt to far away.
Excellent place for families and friends. I do recommend to all of my family members and friends. KEEPING IN VIEW that all ride are chargeable and NO under age limits, as for as your little one can walk any age, he or she should buy a ride ( ribbon £20.00) and adult £17.00. Inspite of, all I do to say thumb up to all of the staff members of all rides and all stalls staff members. My advice to the visitors try to take a map on counter otherwise will miss some places!!!!
Its such a great little theme park. Came here when I was a kid. Its great for a romantic walk or just a lovely day out! Highly recommend coming for the summer!
Great place to take the family. The food is a reasonable price and the staff are really helpful. Well worth a visit
Great place to visit prices are good considering the present covid problems. Management dont seem to have taken advantage of people like other places have. Well done Wicksteed and all success to you in the future.
It is a wonderful family oriented open space.
We took our grandchildren who live out of the area, had a wonderful day in the grounds. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Great value for money and the Sun helped a lot 😊
Greatest park and Charles the owner made this for the children to be happy
A great day out for the kids and family time
Hmm. Not quite sure where to really start,Great location, nice rides and amusements, lots to do and see. That is, if you are prepared for walking. If you have a baby and unable to do long distances then maybe not the best place to go. Not enough toilets especially down near the rides and food area.Let me put it this way, my daughter, (currently here at the moment) has just done a great big poo. We now have to walk all the way back to the start by the car park to be able to give her a change. We asked the guy behind the counter and he called security, neither seemed bothered by my fiancee being too upset to be able to take a screaming and upset baby. Who just needed to change a nappy. There need to be more toilets.Other than that. We are all having a relatively decent time.
Amazing experience I got the bands and all the rides now need only ONE TICKET which is amazing. I would 100% recommend going there because I go every year multiple times and it is always a fun time but during the corona virus time some of the rides are closed and I think they are doing really well since they nearly closed during the summer in 2020 when some small businesses were forced to close.
Only visited the park area to visit friends plenty of pleasant green space, have no idea what rides etc are open or no available. £6.00 to park all day, beware no ticket barriers now you need to visit the payment station and enter registration or risk a fine if you dont.
A great day out for all ages.
We need some of the old rides back but other than that it was really fun to go there again with my nephews! Love the slides and the log flume!
Great site with acres of space for camping. Plenty to do for kids with onsite rides which do cost extra. However some great walks and plenty of ways to relax for free. Shops if needed 5 min drive although there are cafes open until 5pm on site.Level pitches were abundant when we visited end of August but difficult to judge how Covid has affected bookings and whether the site was fuller than usual or not.All together worth the trip and will be visiting again 5 Stars.
A nice big park with lots of space to move around, lots of rides and play area to keep the youngsters occupied for the whole day and still not have gone on all the rides, there is a lovely train ride in the park Im sure it takes a good 10 minutes to do the whole circuit, we shall definitely be going there again in the near future 😀
Excellent place 👌 my son 9yr old and his cousins loved it!!! Mini Roller coaster ride 19 times they go on !!!!!! Short queue, hand band is a must! Give the kids that FREEDOM!! Recommend to all.
Great day out, very quiet so the kids went on loads. Lots of renovations underway and the work that has been done looks good. Be even better when more attractions re-open.
Very run down. They are more interested in making money from corporate events than maintaining the park.Kids playground needs a major revamp. Rides look at end of life.
The website does not do justice to the possibilities of the park. It is free entry to the vast park and playground. Tickets or wristband is only required for the rides. There could have been clearer description of rides and queue times.
A great local theme park, my 5 year old twins loved it. Plenty of open space for picnics but not much cover if you were unlucky with the weather.
Excellent day put with family. Lots of activities and reasonably priced rides. Fun for all ages and very reasonable parking charges with lots of parking space
Great place and an amazing experience for children. So many different rides for children to choose from and it is spaced out nicely so you can walk around and enjoy the sites as well. Definitely recommend 😊
So lucky to have such a fantastic place on our doorstep. You can go for a walk, or take the kids to play, or go for the full amusement park experience, or mix and match. Many a good time had here, and many more to come Im sure.
S great place for all the family especially the kids. Helpful staff, fab food, good fillet facilities. Lots of parking. Enjoy........🥳🥳
Past its heyday Im sad to say, many of the rides closed, though the favourite staple of the vintage water shute still there to delight. Felt it was not money well spent and Wicksteed needs a capital injection to return it to something worth spend £100 to get into.
The water zone area could do with a revamp but all in all its a good day out. Defo get the wrist bands as the tickets go quickly and if you have time for more than 8 rides then they pay for themselves.. plenty to do for my 8 yr old, she loves it there! May not be the best for teens but worth a visit all the same
Lovely park for smaller children. Just a warning to those who attend to keep your parking ticket sticker/receipt when you leave for a week or two. I paid for my parking after our day out and a few days later got a parking fine letter from Parking Eye that manage the parking on the site. They stated that I had not paid. Luckily I had the receipt from the machine with my reg plate etc on it, was able to appeal and the fine was cancelled.
Very nice park, with lots of rides and games aimed at young children. The train does a circuit all around the park and stops back at the beginning. Butterfly and meerkat houses are fairly small and you need to pay to enter. Lots of events and shows throughout the year so check the website to find out whats going on.
All ride operators very pleasant and friendly .place was clean bins being emptied regular. The gardens were beautiful .
Busy but enjoyable day.Older amusements but the kids love them so whats not to like?😊
Lots of the attractions were closed. Glad I didnt waste money on a wrist band!Park and grounds were lovely and clean
Really good day out with the kids. Kids enjoyed it and I did too. Love the bird avery, rides was perfect for my 4 year old
Excellent place for the whole family. Wide open spaces. Most rides can be enjoyed byt the whole family. Sunday can get quite busy and the queso long but worth the wait. Food is rather descent too.
Wicksteed park. It’s my first time in this park, when we went here there’s a wedding and we park in the guest area( wrong parking) but the real parking is at the back, just follow the road. It’s a big park not much rides but it’s better than no rides at all. There’s a train ride and a camping area. I didn’t explore the whole park but we just had a picnic with friends. Toilet on site and you pay your parking before you leave. It’s a nice park.
Attended an Oktoberfest evening. Very disappointing. The umphaa band was OK but the prices of the beers £8 and £6 for a half cooked bratwurst were bad. Thats on top of a £15 ticket just to get you in the place. Wont be going to another.
A lovely park with some good fun rides for younger children...always brings back memories of my own childhood. Love it here. Shame the boating lake was closed.
Excellent place for family day out. Plenty of space for picnic.Nice attractions for kids👍
Awesome day out with the kids. Not expensive at all and had so much fun the day flew by. Off again to wicksteed park this week
Bought tickets for a concert which they changed the date from a Friday night to a Monday school night. Been trying to get a refund for months!! Still not had it now!
Brilliant day out take a picnic chairs to sit on or grass blanket rides suitable for up to around 11 not much for teenagers but free park only pay to park or armbands optional
Always nice for a picnic, not sure how other theme parks do but wicksteeds has struggled to survive for a good while now....does it need to radically change into a big thrill ride park, maybe?
