Fabulous Korean and Japanese restaurant. The sushi pricing belies the fantastic quality of product you receive. Sima offers great bang for your buck. Get the Sima roll, its great.
Delicious as always. Dana was an amazing server who had a positive and enjoyable attitude. I ordered the beef bulgogi and was thoroughly satisfied with my meal, cant wait to come back!
We hired Sima to cater our wedding. The were professional and on time, and knew what they were doing. (Some other restaurants did not instill confidence they could cater a large event). They provided all the equipment and place cards with descriptions of the dishes for those less familiar with the Korean dishes. The food was excellent, especially the Bulgogi.
Due to rising food costs, the amount of food was under what we initially expected (Korean BBQ grilling combination plate with side dishes), but we had a great time, what we received was delicious, and their cocktails are so tasty! Local family restaurants are being hit hard between people dining and dashing, labor needs, and food costs, so I was happy to support this lovely local gem.
It was our first time eating here and it was AMAZING! The food was perfect and the staff was as well. I found my new favorite restaurant! 😊
Ive been twice so far and it is absolutely amazing. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. And I think its cheaper than most places, definitely try the sushi it is the best Ive had so far.
Been here twice now. Both times the food and service have been amazing!!! 💯 Recommend going here
First time going there and I loved it. Friendly service. Delicious food.
Great food and friendly people. If you like sushi you will love this place.
A big party of us go every Thursday and they are always always always wonderful. The waitresses are so friendly and fun and the food is AMAZING. The idk roll is always a fun surprise, and the emperor dragon roll is a show. Reserve a table if you wanna go on noodle night, they get busy. I love this place and if I could give it a hundred stars I would.
Im not sure what happened here but our experience was a let down. Ambiance was great and service was good, but the food was not fresh or good. We ordered a California roll and a shrimp tempura roll and they were both slightly warm. Tasted average but the sauce on the tempura roll tasted burnt. We ordered an order of takoyaki and the inside was completely doughy and uncooked. The waitress described it as being hush puppy consistency, and having had these before elsewhere, I expected the same. But it was wet and undercooked underneath the fried exterior. We also ordered some gyoza and Kani nigiri, which were both okay. For our main entrees we both got kalbee tang and it was mediocre. The short ribs were tough as if they were boiled. The flavor of the broth was good. The Korean sides that served were old and wilted. Everything was just okay or worse. I really had high expectations considering the other reviews. Wont be back unfortunately. We visited Sunday afternoon.
So good! Went for Fathers day with the family, everyone got so much delicious food and Boba tea! Love going the family that owns this restaurant are the sweetest and the food is my favorite!
We reserved a bbq table to celebrate a special event, and it was an absolutely amazing experience, from start to finish. There had been a slight mix up with our reservation, but the owners were quick to fix the situation, and we were seated within minutes. The decor and atmosphere are perfect, tranquil and tasteful. The server was great, patiently explaining the menu and answering our many questions, and always appearing when needed without hovering intrusively. We started with some sushi and sashimi, which were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. They came with soup and salad, both of which were amazing, and all done fresh in house. Ginger dressing is usually ok (and usually bottled) but I actually loved theirs, a lot. We also got a bottle of soju with oranges. Our server muddled the oranges in our carafe, right at the table, making for an incredibly fresh cocktail that complimented our meal perfectly. She even helped us seal what was left of the bottle to take home. For the bbq table, we ordered 2 samplers that let us try every meat they offer. It comes out raw, and you cook it yourself in the little gas powered grill in your table. That was a great experience, cooking our own food provided an activity to keep us engaged as a group, and we got to eat our food as soon as it was cooked, sometimes using our chopsticks to pick a piece right out of the grill and straight to our mouths. The raw whole shrimp with heads on was probably the freshest shrimp weve ever had, and cooking and peeling it was a fun new adventure for the family. The Korean sides were all completely amazing. The curried potatoes and cucumber salad were droolworthy, the kimchi was crisp and perfectly balanced. Even the pickled ginger and soy sauce were high quality and better than the run of the mill. And then some boba for dessert, with a fairly customizable menu, choose your tea flavor and milk type, with several types and flavors of boba or jelly cubes to choose. Between how much food wed ordered, and cooking it ourselves, we lost track of time (over two hours, and we loved every minute!!) and had stayed to just past closing, but the owners and staff were still patient and friendly, and even stopped to chat with us and joke around for a few minutes before we left, and they even thanked us numerous times for being so patient with them.I cant recommend the place highly enough, and we will definitely be regulars.
Ive eaten at more sushi places than I can count, and this one is by far the best one Ive ever been to. I order about 3 times a week and never get tired of it. There is a wide variety of rolls and you can alter them any way youd like. The ownership def knows what theyre doing. They greet everyone with sincerity and they go out of their way to make you feel appreciated for coming in. I highly recommend them over any other sushi place is town.
SIMA blows every other restaurant out of the water!!! The freshest ingredients, amazing service, and the best options on their menu. I wouldn’t say I’m picky, I just know good food. Please do yourself a favor and try this place out.
Absolutely THE best!! Very attentive staff, EXCELLENT food!! The Pork Bulgogi was FABULOUS!! The side dishes were out of this world, ESPECIALLY the Japanese Curry!! For dessert, the ABSOLUTELY best Tempura fried cheesecake!! Love.. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Absolutely delicious!! We had Bulgogi, Kal Bee Tang and orange Soju. Cant wait to come again and try something new. Great service and enjoyable atmosphere.
Honestly, it was the worst sushi experience Ive had, at least in recent memory. The rolls on Wednesdays night are supposed to be discount rolls, but you end up paying $9-10 per roll, and they are basically a ball of rice surrounded with batter and deep fried. The crab or tuna or whatever ingredients are supposed to be included simply arent there in detectable quantities. Its a bad deal and a bad experience. Go on literally any other (non discount) night if you want actually edible food. Do NOT make the mistake of going there on a Wednesday though...Update: Sima apparently doesnt understand that being defensive towards customer feedback pushes customers away. I stand by my assessment that the discount sushi is not a discount at all... You are getting deep fried rice rolls. The playboy roll is the only discount non-deep fried roll they offer that night (as far as I am aware), and Ive been there many, many times... My wife and I stopped going before the pandemic started because we both got grossed out by the bad sushi on Wednesday nights. Sima: accept the feedback and fix your food. Its bad on Wednesdays. You know it is. Your customers know it is. Obviously we wont ever be coming back given that you just made us feel so unwelcome. Bad customer support and bad food? No thanks.
Please Japanese and Korean restaurant in Dayton Ohio. We have been coming here for 5 years now especially when we are wanting authentic Asian cuisine. Our favorite is seating down at one of the six tables for grilling your own meats. Select #2 which includes beef, chicken, and pork. Make sure to ask for the garlic and peppers to add that special spicy taste. They are closed from 2:30 to 4:30 PM. Also they have a buffet.
Fantastic food and great service make this place one of the best Asian restaurant in the Dayton area. The beef bulgogi is a real treat that is worth the price. They have an excellent selection of import Asian beers, and the bubble tea are quite delicious. The service is awesome, always friendly and helpful. Give them a try, you wont be sorry! And they take Google pay!
Best Sushi Ever! Always great service. One of my personal favorites 😋🤤😋
Great food, great staff. Took my son for his birthday lunch and had the best food and time. Well worth the drive and price.
Weve ordered Sima for the second time tonight through Door Dash and it was even better than the first time a few weeks ago (and we loved it then)! Ive driven by this place so many times but never dined there. I wish we would have tried it sooner because its not far from our house. I had the bibimbap tonight and it was perfect! The sauce that came with it, I wanted to put on other foods my family ordered. My son said he gives the shrimp tempura an A++ and my daughter loves the sushi (she gets California roll whenever a restaurant has sushi). The flavor in the yaki soba tonight was better than the yaki soba I usually get at a certain place in the Oregon District. Oh, and the best part is that we can Door Dash their cocktails and theyve all been fabulous. I would say this is my new favorite restaurant in Dayton.
There is a wonderful place to share a dinner with the family. Their owners are so friendly persons.
My family and I were out of town tovisit the Air Force museum and we stopped by here to try it out and the food and service was absolutely fantastic. Definitely worth the price. The food is absolutely amazing.
Great sushi, good service
Delicious bulgogi! Fantastic, friendly and attentive service. Great atmosphere. Wonderful experience overall!
Wonderful food and service. The hostess even retrieved the chopstick that flew out of my hand and landed in front of her. I tend to be an enthusiast eater. Great place.
Angelina was an amazing waitress. Let us know all our options, including vegetarian. The food, drinks, and desserts were absolutely divine. She catered to the picky eater of the group. Thank you!
The buffet price is a bit steep but I cannot believe how good it was. Quite possibly the best tasting sushi I have come across in the Dayton area. I had some of the curries they had and the bulgogi was delicious as well as the schezuon. I dinged one star only because I cant afford to go as often as id like to but you bet I will definitely be taking friends here.
Best sushi in Dayton. Also the staff are all so nice!
Friendly staff. Service outstanding. Food was excellent. Best sushi in Dayton! Definitely will return!
My first experience at this place. The waitress explained the menu to this old hillbilly, and I was able to order the perfect dish. Although the food was delicious, the prices are a bit steep. We had 6 people ordering and it cost us $156.00 +30 tip
I ate here last night and had Bulgogi and rice. It came with your choice of five Korean sides. Two forms of kimchee, pickled seaweed and two others. The Bulgogi was ok, it seamed like it sat in water too long. The price for one person without drink was $25 which for this dish seams high. The place was really clean and the young man who served me was very polite and nice. I was served my dinner with 10 minutes from walking in the door.
Great tasting sushi that quickly jumped to a favorite spot of mine.
I love Sima! I go there all the time, the staff treats you like family and the food is amazing!
Outstanding food. Reminded me of food when we lived in Japan. Wasnt just sushi and sake.
Sima is amazing and their staff is top notch! My husband and I frequent here with our autistic son and the ladies are so amazing with him. The service is fast, yet delicious, and you truly are treated like family here! 10/10 would recommend to everyone!
My first Korean meal and it the food was delicious. I had a delightful experience. The server was knowledable and very helpful. Dont miss this experience. Mark from Toronto, Ohio
I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures! But it was so yummy, out server was really pleasant and went up and above to satisfy us. Thanks so much Sima
First of all- amazing service. Hospitality through the roof, friendly funny staff and even on a very busy night we got plenty of service. The issue was with the food unfortunately, the prices were very high (except the sushi) and the broth for the Udon was fantastic. But the noodles were basically the entirety of the dish, and their take on sweet and sour was tempura chicken... Which was mostly tempura and the chicken was low-quality and overcooked. They had some interesting sushi i didnt try (because of the prices) but overall i wont be returning. Theres wonderful service but they need to buy better ingredients and be less stingy with the ramen (and thinner noodles).Just one more time i want to reiterate- the service was fantastic.
Good food, excellent service!
I visit this spot a lot since I work nearby. I have to say the service is always fantastic and they keep the place clean at all times. Pricing is fair and they serve big portions.
We went in for their half price sushi on Wednesdays and i was very happy with our experience. All of the staff greeted us when we came in and they were very friendly and happy we were there. We ordered nigri and maki rolls. All of the nigri was delicious, the rice had a great texture and the fish was the correct temperature. I was pleasantly surprised. The maki rolls were all a good size and delicious. The waiter told us they are now doing a ramen special on Thursdays, so we will be back to check that out.
One of my favorite places to eat in town! Theres honestly not a thing on the menu that I dont love.
The wait staff is super friendly, and the sushi is always great!
Great place to take your family.....kids loved the place, loved the staff ( very kind), loved the food. Have to make reservation. Well worth it!
Was visiting from Toronto Canada recently & I must say, this is the best sushi Ive ever had!We had 5 different rolls and the miso soup. We ordered to go. Everything was so fresh! It was worth the wait.
The food here is amazing and the staff were on point. It is also a family ran business which I love to see. They definitely went above and beyond for my fiance and I. Thanks for a wonderful evening
Excellent authentic food and great customer service
I LOVE this place! My boyfriend and I go a few times a year and the staff always remember us and are super fun to talk to, very friendly. One particular time we hadnt gone in for nearly a year, and when we were able to go again the waitress lit up and said you guys are back! It was so nice! Ive been to both Japan and South Korea and the food here is just as authentic and delicious as the food abroad. Sima is the best!
My favorite sushi place! Im here at least once a week. Half priced sushi deals on Wednesday is a plus too!Great staff.A must try
5 stars is not enough, Sima is our Wednesday tradition. I love the food and the staff!!
This place is consistent with there service. The servers are polite and the food is excellent. There are a lot of places in the South that could learn a thing or two from this restaurant. Thank you!
Delicious food and a great experience!
Great staff and affordable delicious food.
We ate at the table where you grill your own food, we got the pork belly and beef package that comes with many korean sides.. pickles, Kim chi and others. Tasted great, wish the portions were bigger but it was adequate for us. Service was great. As far as I know, they are the only ones with this kind of grill in the area.
Ive been here a few times and every time I have gotten sushi and it has been amazing! Im not a house fan of their ramen that they have Thursdays but the consistent menu items I have had do not disappoint. So far the tonkatsu is my all time favorite!
Came here on a recommendation and absolutely loved it! Service is very very good. And the sushi is spot on. Highly recommend the playboy roll.
Food was amazing, well priced, and the service was top notch. This was my first visit and always planning my next one!
Awesome environment and excellent sushi!!!
Wow I went here looked at the building and said yuck I dont wanna eat here. But then I was like try it the reviews are great. When i walked in wow looked amazing very clean nice setting great service and the food wow the best I have had in ages great food. It just goes to show dont judge a restaurant by the cover but by the food.
Delicious and great service. Will be back soon.
Love the yaki soba. Fresh boba!!
Sima has the BEST Korean food in the state of Ohio. The staff is excellent and always helpful. I cant visit anywhere in the Dayton area and not enjoy a meal at this place.
We had a great time. Sushi was delicious and the service was on point. Thank you Simas 😊
Friendly wait staff, comfy and calm atmosphere. Great food.
Always a favorite of ours for Date night. I had pork Bulgogi, wife had seafood/tofu dish. Both delicious and always enjoy the Korean side dishes.
I went here with my family for my brothers birthday and everything was fantastic the waitress was even going to read my grandmother with poor eyesight the menu. Fortunately it was not necesary. The sushi is awesome and the cocktails are great for a sushi restaurant.
The sushi is delicious!! Cant wait to go back. The drinks were great too. I had a lavender lemonade drop.
Has great service and an awesome atmosphere! Amazing food!
Made reservations for our anniversary for the bbq table. When we got there they told us it was already booked. Don’t make plans for special occasions here because they obviously don’t care.Reply: Now I’m not going to argue about dinner but please don’t just make things up. We called and asked specifically for the bbq table and even asked about the bbq menu. The person that took the reservation asked us to hold and then told us the BBQ menu was on Facebook. No special occasion was ever brought up or asked about. We just wanted to try Korean bbq for the first time. We got there and told the server about it so she checked and told us we were wrong and that the tables were already booked so of course we left. I wouldn’t call that storming out. It’s just dinner but when you drive 40 minutes to get told there must have been a “problem with the phone” it’s pretty annoying.
