At 8:30pm, went in thinking it would for sure be closed. The owner had indeed turned the chairs down, but was willing enough to accept a last customer. Nested in a now-hipster neighborhood, the shop had a single sign which too was not easily noticeable, which makes it more of a treasure find for a first timer. Motivated by a friends admiration for their caramel custard, I asked the owner for the same. The taste was well worth the hype.

Their cake has a different texture than other bakeries around Kathmandu. And it is good. A little bit on the heavier side as compared to other bakery cakes but its cake so doesnt matter much. Different is good. And there are about 10 different flavors. Try out different one each time!

First off, cakes are amazing here and pretty unique, owner has its own creative vision and just to the right point. So if you have a sweet tooth, or you are food explorer ( like me ;) ) or seeking for local gems.. this place is for you.Ambience and atmosphere. It is a little like if you would close your eyes and end up in hippy 60s... rasta murals on walls, people reading newspapers for hours, sipping fanta straight out of glass bottles, everyone is smoking, no wifi. Few foreigners lots of locals some knowing each other, shaking hands when coming in. To me it was something very comforting to be here and sending me back to the times where we would go home to place a call. ;))I respect businesses like that and hope they stay true for long.One thing that was a disadvantage to me is that there’s no room where people would not be smoking . Hope they set up one.All in all, this one should be on your map.

Well.. To be honest the place is for the teens and young people to hang out and chill. The place also gives vibes for young people to stay with great wall paintings and great coffee and cake.

This is a place with memories and a great place to hangout as well over a cup of tea or coffee.there are good pies that are available here as well.

Cakes were good and the teas was simple but nice. The place is really all about the cakes though. A decent variety, tasty and cheap!Only downside is that the place does allow smoking inside so downstairs was pretty smokey

Well, its a 5 stars due the fact its in freak street area, that has the power to make you feel you went back in the 70’ and that is a place like nowhere else in kathmandu.. coffe and cake for 120rupees .. if you are around stop by , if you are a smoke hater skip it :)

Dive cafe. All locals. Almost nothing on the menu over 100 rupees. Coffee drinks come straight of a Nescafé machine, which fits the spirit of this place perfectly.

Went there for Apple pie on recommendation of a local from Nepal. Nice place, its kind of historic, like been there for more than 60 years or so. I tried Apple pie and it was nice. And the cool dark ambience is nice too.

Always a great place to hangout with your friends. The owner is really friendly and humble. The walls here make you want to write on them and make some memories. The cakes are great and coffee is good. My favourite is the hot lemon here. The washroom is a little unhigenic though. Overall, a cool place to hangout.

Awesome place. Gives you nostalgia even if you werent the one to write on the walls. By the way, youre allowed to write, draw, doodle, scribble or paint the walls as you wish. The owner is cool and overall, its one of the best places in town to hangout with friends.

Visited basantapur million times and never visited snowman, you are a foolsuch a cool place with a cool and friendly ownercome here for cakes and soft drinks( coffee, tea, cold drinks). Personally coffee cake and cold coffee shake are the best. Fresh items. Quick Serve in a minute. No longer than 3-4 minutes for some item or during busy hoursamazing wall arts from various lover of this place

Ambience is good, they have nice apple pie there, and ia super crowded always, if u are going alone its a no as u have to share your table with other. Mostly famous for teenagers

One of the best cakes you can get in Kathmandu! Owner is really nice and his cakes are pretty unique, decadent, and absolutely delicious. Everytime I visit I take new friends to introduce them to this treasure and so far everybody has agreed that these cakes are infact amazing. Excuse me for drooling all over this post. Definitely go try them out!

Is it enough if I just say that Snowman is my all time favourie place to spend some time off in Kathmandu?Not enough? Well then just go there yourself, order a black chocolate cake with milk tea and enjoy the ride.

That was the first time i entered in that cafe , was so cosy full of different peoples eating, smoking. Wall were full of art with different imagination that was beautiful though the place was so dark it was impressive.The food was good at all and serive was good too.

A Kathmandu institution, this was once the only place to get good cakes and the cakes are still fabulous. In the 70s it was the haunt of overland travellers nowadays its mostly frequented by the cooler Nepali uni students.

The place holds nostalgia. Its always been a place tp hangout after college with friends. It has some of the best sweet treats in the city.

It is the best place to get apple pie. Opened in 1965 in Freak st when has houses and hippies were abundant. Buses would come straight from Kathmandu airport . This place survived on selling apple pie etc and coffee. The original owner is still there but cafe now run by his son. Theres upstairs and a downstairs. The interior hasnt changed much since then and thats part of the appeal. Some reviews say its dingy but perhaps this is not for them. If you cant find it just ask a local shopkeeper.Try and get a table at the front window downstairs and watch the modernish world go by.

Classic hang out place for many many people. People have been going there since their teens and you can still see them in their near 40s. Its in its fifth decade since its start-up! Lots of stories inside the cafe and people of all ages visit there... I like the cakes there the most. Try it. :)

One of my favourite places in Kathmandu, the location is very to find and its walkable from Kumari Ghar, basanthapur durbar square.I ordered the black forest cake, chocolate Lava, apple pie.I recommend the Black forest cake.

Average but very cheap cakes. The juice are worth the money. Smoking is allowed in the shop.
