The sacred Uma Devi Temple in Karnaprayag is dedicated to Goddess Parvati or Gauri, the daughter of the Himalayas. It is here that her ‘Swayambhu’ or self- manifested idol has been consecrated since ages. This pious Hindu shrine is located near the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Pindar River, making the aura spiritually awakening
Jai mata di. This is very ancient temple. Its architecture is very old. Whole karanprayag town can be viewed from here. It looks very beautiful. There is a big lawn in the front of the temple.

Mother Uma Devi Temple is situated in Chamoli district near the confluence site of Alaknanda and Pindar river in Karnprayag. Mother Uma Devi temple is known as the second most prestigious Hindu temple in Karnprayag and this temple is praised and worshiped. Mother Uma Devi Temple is worshiped in Katyayani form of Mother Parvati. In the early years of the 20th century, the Uma Devi temple came into existence. The stone statues set in the temples house are estimated to be 12th and 13th year. It is said about the Mother Uma Devi Temple that this holy temple is the only place where Mata Parvati worshiped Lord Shiva by keeping her holy conduct as Aparna in order to get Shiva in her husbands form. Establishment of this temple was done by Guru Shankaracharya in the eighth century, but according to some people the statue of Mother Uma Devi was established very long ago. About this temple it is believed that the idol of Mother Uma Devi, established in this temple, is already well before. The goddess appealed to a Dimri Brahman to dream of setting up his statue at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers. The home of Dimri Brahmins living in this area are also considered Maa Umma Devis maida, while Shiva temple of Kapri Patti is considered as her in-laws. A few years later, Goddess visits a village tour on Joshiamath on a 6-month journey. A huge crowd of devotees arises to visit the temple of Mother Uma Devi everyday, but on the occasion of Navaratri this view of the temple is even more magnificent. It is said that on the occasion of Navaratri, devotees receive special fruit from here only.
Karnprayag is one of the famous religious places in Uttarakhand. It is a city and municipal board in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state. Karnprayag is located at the confluence of the five streams (five confluences) of the Alaknanda River, the Alaknanda Sangam and the Pindar River. The city of Karnprayag, located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pinder rivers, is a very beautiful city. On the west side of the confluence there are temples and temples of Danveer Karna in the form of Shilakhand. While going to Badrinath Dham, sadhus, sages, sages and pilgrims on foot have to pass through the city of Karnprayag. Karnprayag was also a thriving market in mythological times and people from elsewhere in the country started living here because business opportunities were available here. These activities were stopped due to the breakdown of the Birehi dam in the year 1803. At that time, the ancient Uma Devi Temple was also damaged in this place. The culture of Karnprayag is associated with the most legendary and amazing Nand Raj Jat Yatra of Uttarakhand.
