Its a unique system to transfer boats from Kaptai Lake to Karnafuli River . The lake is an artificial one so its level is high and for hydroelectric system Dam boats are not allowed to reach river .So the system have elevator which carries the boats from one side to another . This is one of its kind in Bangladesh . The facility is being operated by Government of Bangladesh

Its used for transporting freight boats from one river to another.
