Awesome Hotel with everything required to survive with ease. Only disadvantage or bad thing in my case is when I entered my room i had strong cigarette smells which persisted till i left the hotel. But ok.

I booked Hotel Oscar as it was close to Kalka Railway Station in order to board my train early morning at 5:45 AM to Shimla. I booked it through MMT for just Rs. 900 approx. For the price the place seems good. Has AC and Geaser too. The staff is cooperative and friendly.

Firstly, id just like to state that this is a very long review and if youd take the time to read it maybe youd consider avoiding this place at all costs!When we first arrived staff was eating tobacco and were shown to our ground floor room. The room was very basic including horribly uncomfortable single beds pushed together nd a very basic bathroom. However, we were satisfied with this as were never too bothered about the room we stay in, as long as it is clean. We bought a few drinks from the shop and ate breakfast there a few times, once we decided to venture out of the hotel and eat elsewhere we began to get questioned on where wed been and where we were going. My partner and I both have dust allergies and this triggers my asthma. After just a few hours of being in our room our allergies were starting up. The room was unbelievably dusty, it was clearly cleaned last season and then just left. Every morning Id wake up struggling to breathe,stuffy nose, swollen eyes and even swollen lips. A few days in to the holiday it became too much and we approached the cleaner and asked if he could give it an extra clean under the beds, which was not done very well, we even gave him a tip with the assumption hed do it properly this time. As the problem was still not resolved we decided to speak to the receptionist mishra ji who asked us to show him the dust. We took him to our room, showed him the dust coming off of the pillows and we asked if the sheets could be changed to which his reply was whos going to do it? The cleaners gone home. (Maybe you Mishra as you are the manager) Being asked such a simple thing seemed too much for him as he seemed to be very annoyed with us after this. We told him we were happy to change it ourselves and he agreed to that. The next day the problem was still not resolved and it was starting to make our holiday less enjoyable so we decided to change hotels. We didnt check out or tell any of the staff at margarita where we were going, to avoid being interrogated! We later found out that mishra had seen us and our friends drive off and decided to follow us to our new hotel, ring them and ask for the key back. As soon as we stayed at the new hotel next to oscar our allergies improved massively and we were able to enjoy our holiday again because this place was actually clean, even if we did have to fork out extra money to stay somewhere else. On the day we were leaving we then went back to oscar to take our key back and check out, some chotu greeted us in a friendly way and asked us where wed been. We then received a charge to pay for new laundry which we said we REFUSED to pay as wed already had to pay an extra 950/- because the room at oscar hadnt been cleaned properly. As we told Mishra we werent happy to pay this fee he then tried to threaten and intimidate us by saying he will call the police that they will be waiting for us at the railway station and we wont be leaving the kalka. We were also told it wasnt his problem that the room was dusty and that we had allergies and we should have contacted our rep straight away instead of going to him with the problem. He was extremely rude, pointing in my face and told me he doesnt want to want to speak to me, he will only speak to my boyfriend! His chottu also decided to become very aggressive and shouting in Greek which led to mishra having to remove his chottu from the situation(even though hed be so friendly just a few minutes before) I recorded this all on video. To anyone thinking of booking here, I would really advise you to think twice , thrice unless you plan on spending all your time and money here, the staff has no concept of customer service and only cares about money! I never give places a bad review but the lack of customer service and professionalism from this place was shocking! (I partly think mishra thought he could take advantage because me and my partner are both young, but he was wrong, we were engaged.

Worst hotel ive stayed in.- The lock housing was exposed meaning it wasnt difficult to break into our room.- No safety deposit boxes in rooms.- Hot water constantly running out.- No ventilation in bathroom (No window or extractor fan) leaving the bathroom misty after taking a shower and leaving it smelly after using the loo.- Virtually no cooking utensils, making a basic task such as hard boiling an egg extremely difficult. No sponge to clean any dishes.- Beds were extremely uncomfortable, may as well of slept on their sun loungers.- Pillows were solid hurting your neck when you slept.- Room was dust central, dust had settled everywhere and even after us wiping it off with some baby wipes it would re settle. Under the bed was filthy with dirt and dust looked like it had been forgotten about by the cleaner.- Bed sheets were filled with dust when we asked Mishra (the receptionist) if we could have them changed he replied well the cleaner has finished whos going to do it?- Staff funny when you leave hotel to eat or drink out. A little two faced.I could go on but im not going to waste any more time. I have honestly never been anywhere and met such rude two faced staff .If you are not majorly botherd by the cleanliness of your room and want a cheap place to lay down, like to stay in the hotel all day + night. However if you are more the adventurous type, care about cleanliness, like to eat out without feeling youre being monitored DO NOT STAY.

The worst place ever! They take the payment in advance and then dont even care to fulfill the basic needs of the customers. We asked for 2 soaps and they didnt even provide it. We had to ask for it for 4-5 times. Same goes for the bill. They take the payment including the taxes at first when you check in and then dont even provide a bill unless and until you ask for it continuously!If you have to stay in Kalka for a night halt, then try your best that you can eliminate that part from your journey if you can! This is one of the best hotel in this town. Raja the caretaker was very humble and always on the toes to guide us. Owner was very kind because our train was running late by 3 hrs. and 4 to 5 times I called him and was updating my status, he without any hassels was answering my call with respect and after reaching kalka he also guided us for the hotel directions perfectly. We had too much luggage but still along with my 9 yrs. old son managed to walk to the hotel as it is just 2 mins. distance from railway station. The rooms are nice, clean. Bathroom hygienically maintained. Do consider this hotel in kalka for your 1 night stay.

Worst hotel I have stayed in Kalka. No proper cleaning was there. When I checked into the hotel there were condoms on the floor. Very bad smell was coming from the bedsheets.

Experience was too bad. room was allocated on open terrace area.. 5 rooms are there without closed approch lobby. to reach room one need to pass from outside from hotel. which was totally open. it was around 100 steps above.. no carpet on room floor nor in hotel anywhere in such peak winter. it is highly commended that hotel should hv this kind of arrangement. as i hv requested to change or upgrade my room with extra payment. still he dint provided. this is not the way of doing hotel business

Clean rooms, bairly 5 min walk from the railway station. Lack of a restaurant is a problem specially when arriving late at night. Staff is cooperative, you can ask them to order food for you we which you can have once you reach. Mosquito repellent in the rooms were missing so you should carry one. Good for a nights stay

Decent hotel. Close to the station, though v reached after 11.30pm, the manager was waiting. Cleanliness was well maintained.

Rooms are there to support Banquet Hall, the amount which was charged against that its waste of money, though its on a walkable distance from Railway station. Rooms were neat and clean but there are no restaurant, if you are ordering food which is mentioned in Menu are bought from near by Dhaba. Its a very compact room and beds are good for 2 persons only, on asking for Extra Bed, there are no space and they dont keep extra Beds too. Dummy TV with Set top Box is hanged just for display, they dont work and there were no remote kept in the room, on asking for remote, they acknowledged the TV is not working. No room phone was available and no wake up facility available, even extra pillows are also not available. Avoid using this Hotel until and unless there are no options available.

Hotel claim that this hotel is 3 star hotel may be they dont now what is a 3 star hotel mean.No toiletries with dirty towel .Not Recommended.
