Terracotta work.

It is a famous temple in Birbhum district situated on the bank of Ajay River. It is a Radha-Madhava temple. In this temple, idols of two devotees, Jaydev and Padmavati are also present. Jaydev was a renowned literary of Sanskrit Literature who wrote Gitgovindam lyric. From this lyric, a famous quote ( স্মর গরল খন্ডনং মম শিরসি মন্ডনং / দেহি পদ পল্লব মুদারম ।।) is taken and written beneath the throne of Radha-Madhava. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti or Poush Sankranti ( generally on 15th or 16th of January), every year a fair is held in adjacent to this temple on the bank of Ajay River. This fair is carried on for mainly 3 days. Many Akhras and many stalls of foods, handcrafts, toys, books, utensils, daily used things, rides etc can be found in this fair. Especially in every Akhra, Kirtan songs, Bhajans, Folk songs are played all though the day and night. Moreover, night shelter and free food service are also provided by these Akhras. People from every corner of this state and all culture come and participate in this fair. Thick crowd is a speciality of this fair. Apart from the days of fair, there is no crowd at all and people can easily visit this temple.

A beautiful temple of terracotta works. Ramayana epic story are visible on terracotta relief. Some of the relief are destroyed. Its a naba ratna temple of ratna style. Kumbhokarno relief plate are exceptional. Radha krishna idols are situated here. Somewhere put paint on terracotta plates its harmful for terracotta plates. Some design plates are really different types from others side terracotta temples of bengal. Must visit this place for half an hour or more.

One of the oldest historical place of India. It is not soon popular but has a great historical relevance. do visit it there is a temple where the great poeat named jaidev use to leave he is actually from South India. It is said that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also visited this place. The king of Birbhum made this temple on the occasion of meeting the two great soles.

Its an ancient near about 800 yrs.old temple,definitely deserving heritage one.

This is very ancient and holy dham as kavi jayadev a great vaishnav used to worship lord radha Madhava during the reign of King laxman Sen. The original vigraha (deities) are now shifted to jaipur in rajasthan during aurangazebs time.They have a very big mela (fair) on makar sankranti to celebrate his memorandum.

Jaydev Kenduli had long been considered as a possible birthplace of the poet Jayadeva, who had composed Gita Govinda in Sanskrit. However, now there appears to be a consensus among scholars that Jayadeva was born in another place in Orissa bearing the same name, in Kenduli Sasan.[2][3][4][5][6]He was believed to be the court poet of Raja Lakshman Sen, who ruled in the 12th–13th century. The image of Radhamadhav set up by him is daily worshipped. The asana (mat) on which the poet sat and obtained siddhi(salvation) through meditation is carefully preserved.[7]During the Mughal era Jaydev Kenduli was part of Senpahari pargana. As per a firmanissued by Aurangzeb in the 17th century, Senpahari was added to the property of Krishnaram Rai of Bardhaman Raj. Maharani Brajakishori of Bardhaman had set up temples in different places such as Puri and Vrindaban. Jugal Kishore Mukhopadhyay of Jaydev Kenduli was then court-poet at Bardhaman. It is said that it was at his request that the Maharani set up the Radhabinod temple at Jaydev Kenduli in 1683. The temple stands where the house of the poet Jayadeva, was believed locally to have stood, based on the prior assumption of his birth there.[8]Around 1860-70, Radharaman Brajabasi of the Nirbak Vaisnava sect set up the Nirbak Ashrama at Jaydev Kenduli, the place of birth of their kula guru (patron saint) of the sect, the poet Jayadeva.[8] In the first half of the 20th century, the Radhaballav temple of the Mukhopadhyay family was established. Many more ashramas (hermitages) were set up and thus Jaydev Kenduli developed as a religious centre.[8]
