Jodhpur Saptamis Shitala Mata is worshiped seven days after Holi all over the country, but in Jodhpur it is worshiped by Ashtami. In Jodhpur the Divine Poojan method has been in force for centuries as per the order of a king. On the death of his son due to mata(Smallpox or chechak), the then Maharaja Vijay Singh of Jodhpur had expelled Sheetla Mata from Jodhpur city. Since then, the worship of Sheetla Mata in Jodhpur is done to Ashtami. Vijay Singh, the then Maharaja of Jodhpur, became king of Jodhpur after his father Maharaja Bakhatsinhs death in seventeen hundred fifty years. The following year Maharaja Ram Singh took power from him. After this, after his death, seventeen hundred seventy-two once again became the king of Jodhpur.After a few years, due to the exit of mothers smallpox, Sheetla Saptami passed away of her eldest son. Due to the death of the son from the mothers wrath, the Maharaja ordered the expulsion of Shitala Matas city. On this, the statue of Sheetla Mata was lifted from the Sheetala Mata temple at Juni Mandi and was taken to the hills of Kaga. The Kaga area was the cremation ground in Jodhpur. There was also a garden near it. Mothers statue was kept in the hill near the crematorium. The anger of the Maharaja was not even calm down.Nagauri Gate hadbeen selected by salt, he chose Nagaur gate from the gate of the city which opened towards Kaga, with a lunar salt. Many people still say this door in colloquium, instead of Nagaur gate, called the Lunia Door. Over time, the anger of the Maharaja was quiet, but the expulsion of Sheetla Mata was not canceled. Several years later, the temple was built around the statue of Sheetla Mata in the Kaga hills. Since then, people of the city worshiped Sheetla Mata of Ashtami instead of Saptami.
