This has to be a stop for any tourist. They keep the culture of traditional Rajasthani paintings alive. One can either learn how to paint in the style (for free), buy some artwork done by artisans of the school, or even just admire the skill and dexterity that envelops each painting. Vijay is the school master and is also a great conversationalist.

Vijay is a guru of this style of painting. We went to 11 a.m. painting session and enjoyed a lot. It usually takes 2-3 hrs. We could avoid strong sunshine at the hottest time of day. He is a very kind teacher, even a beginner can try Indian fine line painting. I recommend this place to a person who wants some cultural experience in Jodhpur.

I did the short course of stone color painting. 1,000 INR. It was good activity to do in Jodhpur except shopping around clock tower. And an owner and his workers are so kind and funny. I like them.

The umaid heritage art school is best place for learning the miniature painting there teacher was very grate person he teach to as 4 hours. And there was our best experience. And we bought from there painting in artist price and very good price. And work of lentil man.

We were lucky enough to spend a few hours in the art school learning how to paint our very own miniatures! It was completely free and the teacher patiently showed us brush techniques using natural mineral based paints. Would highly recommend.

The emphasis is on you buying something but most of what they produce is 3rd rate and at quite high prices. At first look its interesting, it appears to be highly detailed, but as you look at it closely you realize that its all just for speed, especially the smaller works which many tourists buy.I did learn a bit about how the art is made, but I didnt find anything that I would like to have in my house.Its just a disappointing experience overall for me. Our driver kept suggesting such places, I eventually said No art schools or shops because it really isnt a nice experience to not buy anything even though they try to sell you something. I just cant stand buying low quality art.

It’s Indian holiday when I visited this place so no art class available. The person in the store kept talking about how much time spent, how much the art work deserved, and pushed you to buy something to reserve for the kids. Actually, you can find better quality art work outside here.

Very nice painting class, it lasted two hours and big surprise, it was free. He just asked us to buy a painting made by his students, and we took three postcards for a total of 1200 rupees.
