This is Ranisar which is maintained by hishighness of jodhpur maharaja Gaj singh ji rathore which is situated in the old city near Fateh pol these lake is 500 years old built for conserving natural water.

This wonderful deserves a visit.

I had returned from the entrance because it is a private property of Maharaja Gaj singh ji and which is kept shut due to some people created nuisance in the past (dont know if its true). But, this place is really Beautiful and gives a magnificent view of Mehrangarh fort..

Ranisar Lake and Padamsar Lakes are two adjacent lakes of Jodhpur which is about 5kms from the city center. These lakes were built five hundred years ago for natural water conservation and rarely run out of water in this parched landscape. Ranisar lake, situated near Fateh Pole in Mehrangarh was built in 1459 by Queen Jasmade Hadi, Rao Jodhas wife and Padmasar was made by Queen Padmini of Rao Ganga, daughter of Rana Sanga of Mewar.

There is a lake in old jodhpur (backside of the mehrangarh fort). The right side is ranisar and left is padamsar and they are separated through wide wall. This picture is of padamsar. Padamsar is always open to visit but ranisar opens 4pm to 6pm. A little careful with your belongings , there are monkeys there.

Ranisar lake was built over 500 year ago, situated at the back of the mahrangarg fort, these lakes were created to conserve water ,

The main lake apparently has timings which we werent aware of and wasnt mentioned anywhere. Locals living nearby told us. There is a side portion where you can view the lake but its filthy and not really worth the journey. Ranisar-Padmasar is inside old Jodhpur city where rickshaws cant go. The narrow lanes leading towards it are nice though.
