The place is known as the sasural of Ravana and the birthplace of Mandodari. Located some 9kms from the city, easily accessible by not so crowded roads. The majesty of his structure is something you cant miss being in Jodhpur. This place offers ancient history, charming collection of temples and memorials, and its high rock terraces. Very crowded on weekends. It rained when I visted which was very soothing. Good food and chai available outside.

Have got some fond memories of visiting this place in childhood. Its one of the most famous attractions in jodhpur. Its also famous for being the sasural of King Ravana (his wifes birthplace).Unfortunately not in that great condition as it should have been as its a tourist attraction and heritage site. Cleanliness is something which should be the priority along with some more amenities for the comfort of people. Its got some great architecture made of stone with amazing carvings and sculpture.

Mandore Garden is situated in the heart of Mandore, hardly 10km from Jodhpur Airport. The place is known as the birthplace of Ravanas wife mandodari.Abandoned since 1459 CE, the ancient town of Mandore , One of best-preserved sites here is the Mandore Gardens that stand strong to tell the tale of a bygone era.In the 6th-century CE, Mandore was the principal seat of authority of Pratiharas of Mandavyapura. The princess of the Pratiharas dynasty married King Rao Chunda of Rathore dynasty, who received the Mandore’s Junagarh Fort as a dowry at the wedding. In 1427, Mandore became the seat of the Rathore clan, and Rao Rinmal Rathora became the ruler of Mandore. Besides this, Rinmal was also the administrator of the Kingdom of Mewar until 1438, when he was assassinated by the Mewar ruler, Rana Kumbha, who then took over the throne of Mandore. Rao Jodha, son of Rao Rinmal escaped assassination and tried recapturing Mandore for several years, but all attempts failed. But in 1453, Rao Jodha managed to get Mandore back.Mantri Karam Chand Vanshavali Prabandh, written by Jaysom Uppadhyay, states that Bachhraj, also known as Vatsraj was not only a very religious person but a very brave and gallant warrior in Patan (Anilpura). He is a descendant of Raja Sagar, a Deora Chauhan of Delwara. During mid-15th century, on being invited, Bachharaj submitted his services to the Chief of Mandore (later Jodhpur) Rao Jodha, where he was appointed Dewan as he was an able administrator and a strategist. Rao Jodha, then, for the first time, allowed Bachchraj and other Oswals to take part in commanding armies. A holy man sensibly advised Rao Jodha to move the capital to hilltop safety. The construction of the fort thus begun by Rao Jodha in 1459, under the supervision of Dewan Bachhraj and thus Jodhpur was founded. The fort was completed by Maharaja Jaswant Singh (1637–1680). The new fort was named Mehrangarh Fort and situated on a 125 m high hill, is among the most impressive and formidable forts in Rajasthan.Mandore was the capital of the erstwhile princely state of Marwar (Jodhpur State), before moving to Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur...Where its nOw...Over the centuries, Mandore served as the capital of many Jodhpur kings, and even witnessed several invasions from different dynasties, including the Muslim rulers of Gujarat and Malwa. So, in order to protect Mandore further from invasions, the capital was shifted to the hilltop Mehrangarh Fort, as it offers better safety and protection to the royal kingdom. The ancient town was left in ruins following the abandonment. All that’s left today is the Mandore Gardens that have survived the wear and tear of time, and reminds visitors of the town’s glorious past. The Mandore Gardens houses ancient temples, memorials and high-rock terraces that are quite magnificent. Visitors can spend the whole day gazing and clicking selfies and pic infront of the Gardens, monuments, temples..and some Photo printing facility also there for good camera clicks and print hand to hand....

Mandore is a famous tourists attraction of Rajasthan. One can easily figure out the significance of the place from a mythological fact that demon king, Ravana, got married in the town. And to testify this event, here one can see a Ravan temple, which built at the native place of Ravans wife Mandodari. Until 1459 AD, Mandore was the princely state of Marwar (Jodhpur State), later the Rao Jodha, a Rathore chief, shifted the capital to the newly found city, Jodhpur.

Beautiful gardens on outskirt of Jodhpur city. You can do a day trip and come back. The gardens are open from morning 8 till evening 9 from what I know and when I had visited. Currently it could be off limit due to covid. The place is must visit. However the administration should take better care of the garden and also maintain cleanliness. Disappointment is on people who come here and as typical attitude litter all around. We should take care and not litter all around and contribute to its beauty.Very picturesque and nice temples inside. The complex has temples and these are not props for selfies or climbing on top.No Entry fees. Parking is available for a small paymentPS: please do not litter and enjoy the beauty it has to offer.

The beauty in moon light.Mandore Garden, is a suburb Historical town located 9 km north of Jodhpur city, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The place is known as the birthplace of Ravanas wife mandodari. The well laid out historic Gardens, with high Rock terraces, mark the site of the ancient capital of Marwar. The Gardens are studded with six glorious Cenotaphs known as dewals. These domned Royal Chatris set on a high pinth, are crowned with souring spires and adomed with Ornate carvings. The Dewals, mark the spots, where the Marwar rulers were cremated. The highest and finest dewals are built, in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh and Maharaja Ajit Singh. Another attraction of this enchanting Garden is the Hall of Heroes, which houses 16 gigantic figures chiselled out of one single rock. The statues are either of popular Hindu dieties, or famous folk dieties. There is also a small amusement park within the precincts of the garden. The garden is a popular picnic site, specially during the rainy season.m?

After the assassination of Maharana Mokal in 1433, Ranmal continued as administrator of Mewar at the side of Rana Kumbha. In 1438, Rana Kumbha decided to end the power sharing arrangement and had Rao Ranmal assassinated in Chittor and captured Mandore. Rao Jodha, son of Rao Ranmal, escaped towards Marwar. Approximately 700 horsemen accompanied Rao Jodha as he escaped from Chittor. Fighting near Chittor and a valiant attempt to bar the pursuers at Someshwar Pass resulted in heavy losses amongst Jodhas warriors. When Jodha reached Mandore he had only seven people accompanying him. Jodha collected whatever forces he could, abandoned Mandore and pressed on towards Jangalu. Jodha barely managed to reach safety at Kahuni (a village near present day Bikaner). For 15 years Jodha tried in vain to recapture Mandore. Jodhas opportunity to strike finally came in 1453 with Rana Kumbha facing simultaneous attacks by the Sultans of Malwa and Gujarat. Jodha made a surprise attack on Mandore. Jodhas forces overwhelmed the defenders and captured Mandore with relative ease.
