This is probably the best Indian food I have had in Jersey City. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice and they have a small bar as well. The music playing literally made me feel I am back home. The spread is limited but the food is absolutely delicious. The service was nice and prompt. We decided to have all veg and started with Samosa chat for the appetizers and baingan (eggplant) bharta with breads for the entrees and Rasmalai for the desert. Prepandemic they used to have a lunch buffet but that has not started as yet. Loved it!

I’ve been to this place multiple times for their lunch buffet but this was my first time for dinner. Their vegetarian main courses are on point but the veg appetizers aren’t plenty to choose from. We tried the veg sampler platter and found it quite dry and unflavored. Their service is basically non-existent because our server hardly checked in to ask about the food and he charged us 18% gratuity on the check beforehand (strange!). We were a group of 3 and it wasn’t rush hour either so he shouldn’t have charged it upfront. Either way, I’d prefer their lunch spread better.

This pic tells you how the food was. We left almost everything in the container food came in. Food had no salt, no taste. Staff was rude. Breads were cold and appetizers were pathetic. Not anything close we have in India. And they have Indian chefs😂😂. Dont they taste their own food. Please if you want to have good Indian food go somewhere else.

I had their paneer shashlik and paneer biryani. Both tasted great and worth the price. The food is not overly spicy or oily. The service is good. They automatically add 18% gratuity even for 2 folks. We were almost about to tip them twice had we not noticed. Otherwise a decent place to have dinner

A delightful surprise in Jersey City! Tasty food, perfect portions, EXCELLENT service (thanks Shankar) and quite reasonably priced. Especially good were the Lasuni Gobi Manchurian and Paneer Shaslik apps and the Egg Curry entree. Order a bread basket for the table (we had chili garlic naan). Finish off with a little masala tea and pistachio kulfi. Yummy! Then stroll a block to the river and take some pics of the NYC skyline!.

The food taste is good. But it seems like they do not take any effort. For example, the onions in masala papad were not chopped properly. Also, there is an a minimum gratuity of 18% even for a single person. Since they know that they are getting gratuity, the servers are extremely slow, non-responsive and rude.

Food was delicious here. Pictured is the Bombay Aloo with Rice. Service is very nice too and did not have any issues. This place is expensive for what you get when compared to other Indian places in the area, so I deducted a star. Also I’m not a fan of places that include a mandatory tip, instead of leaving that to customer to decide. The service happened to be great here, but it’s a bad practice.

Sad to be writing this review. We are long time fans of Amiya- the food, and the staff. However, tonight is the 3rd time our delivery service has been awful. The restaurant is just down the street and we have been waiting over 2 hours for our food (an hour later than was quoted)… what’s happening, Amiya? We know you are better than this

We have been ordering takeout during the pandemic but the naans never taste the way they should if not consumed right away. We finallly dined in today and loved it. Their Tandoori platter was good and so was the saag and murg makhani. And yes the naans tasted great fresh off the tandoor. Hope the buffet starts soon once things normalize. The old location had fantastic chaat and dosa options in their buffet.

Our party went there for dinner. My friend ordered this beer from India (10,000 something). It was strong and full of beer flavor. We ordered appetizers see pictures, mango shrimp and something with yogurt sauce. Fir the main dish, we had butter chicken and five types of lentils Dal. The restaurant had great vibes. It would be a nice spot to either just get in for a quick bite real or go out on a date or even have a huge party.

Shrimp curry - Really good and tasty.Fish amritsari - Ordinary. Do not order.Paneer Tikka appetizer (dont remember the dish name) - Not bad, but not great either.Chicken naan - I didnt like it, some people may. It was a bit dry for a stuffed naan. Id rather have a traditional naan.So in all, one star less for the food quality. Another star less for the really rude waitress. She was so busy that I was asking for the recommendations for the entre and she said are you done looking at the menu or not?.When I was ready to pay, I said Id like to pay now instead of when I pick up the food. I had my credit card out so she could see her. She says you can have a seat, Im really busy right now. When I said Im waiting so you could accept my payment, thats when she takes my credit card.

Decent Indian restaurant serving North Indian food with great ambienceFull Review:Amiya is one of the few Indian restaurants in the Exchange Place area. They have a fairly large North Indian focused vegetarian/vegan friendly menu with great ambience and decent service. The portion sizes were good and the pricing was reasonable. The restaurant aint too big and can involve waits if you go with a large group especially during the peak times, would recommend reserving a table before you arrive.I had recently visited them with a group of friends. The menu had good choice of vegetarian/vegan friendly dishes for each course. We tried a bunch of starters ... Subzi Ki Seekh was great, had good flavor and taste. Paneer Shashlik and Methi ki Paneer Tikka were OKish. For the mains we tried Kadai Paneer and Malai Kofta. Both dishes were decent and didnt stand out in flavor or taste. The Naans and Rotis we ordered with the mains were pretty fresh and tasted great. Overall found the food pretty decent and ordinary. I wish the dishes could have been made more flavourful. The place also seems to be pretty popular for their lunch buffet during weekdays among the office goers in the area. A few of my friends recommended this place for the buffet if in the area.Recommendations:Starter: Subzi Ki SeekhMains: Malai Kofta

Great restaurant that serves authentic and freshly, quality preparation of Indian dishes. They are well flavored and spices are very nicely prepared to go with good quality meats and other ingredients.Have been going here for years and service is great and always an excellent meal. Chutneys were authentic and especially nice. The main course we had pudina paratha(could barely taste the pudina) and garlic naan (was really good n soft) along with kashmiri dum aloo (had 3pcs of potato in an orangish gravy..a bit sweetish after taste) and paneer burji (crumbled paneer with lots of onion n tomatoes...would have preferred the tomatoes to be cooked well!)Price - all of the above came to about $67. Apetizer Veg sampler was $10, but most of them were $7-$9.Main course were mostly $14-$20 while breads were $3.50 - $4.50All in all its a good place...could be better tho.

Shan is absolutely phenomenal. The food is astounding but really, it’s the service that brings everything over the top. I feel like a part of their family. Fast service, clean, great food, and they’re all also jokesters. If you’re like my mother and did the, “so what do you like?” Or “what’s the best here?” Instead of the typical server response they actually go into detail on what you might like (though as a server in my youth, can we please stop doing that collectively? I barely ate at the slave jobs because a meal is equivalent to a few tables an hours of your time). You can tell they love this place as much as you will. No shame Momma, I love you. Anyhoo! Place is great. Soft lighting, heavy pours and the music is relaxing. Great place to go on a date, break or networking event with colleagues. Also, the menu is enormous and I have yet to try everything but I’d be surprised if there was one thing on there that wasn’t delicious.
