I have had the pleasure to fly here and its great airport. Privately owned and regulated by tatasteel having awesome aircrafts and State of the art helicopters.

Now a days condition airport dont have any shedule flight flying from this airport before untill ATR 72 flight also operating, now this airport use by only Tata Steel for private and this airport have flying school as well as.

Very nicely maintained by TATA STEEL, its worth going there to see the landing of plane.

Sonari airport is good . The aviation employees are very dedicated about their work, follow rules and regulation of DGCA. Our 1st priority is aviation is safety. This is also mandatory of Tata Steel. It was wonderful experience of paragliding hereThis was my first time para gliding experience, I was excited a lot but equally afraid of. I had read so many reviews before doing that, this was a mix feeling of being happy & afraid at a time. Adeline rush, I was experiencing.But the support team were excellent, they had guided me like anything.I was going to fullfill a task from my wish list, Always wanted to Fly, free like a bird. But I guess it is not possible in this birth at least 😉 Hope to be born as a bird in the next one, though! I indeed wanted to paraglide, this was LONG planned. Finally, got my WINGS!Taking off was a bit tricky task, but in air experience & landing was awesome. It’s a life time experience for me. 😊😊Paragliding is an adventure sport where a person glides through the air using a wide canopy, a fabric wing that’s made up of a large number of interconnected cells. In paragliding, the pilot “takes off” from an elevated position, usually the top of a hill or mountain, then uses wind forces to help him maintain flight — sometimes even gaining altitudes! Throughout the flight, the pilot sits in a harness suspended below the wing.

Road from Sonari airport to rivers meet point is about 2.0km distance. So many Bajrang idols is there on both side of road. Ram mandir complex with well maintained small park in front is peoples attraction.Three small park is there on left hand side of the road.Joggers park is very popular among locals for jogging, exercise and air full with oxygen.Another glorious place Bharat sevashram Sangha is there with school, residential of Sanghas occupants & school students in a green clean environment. Every year festivals with cultural programmes are arranged by the organization. They have their branches all around the world. Sangha is famous for their device to people during disasters.One lake Kailash Sarowar is there with clean water & walking pathway.You can see the old age sal trees. Sal trees now getting damaged slowly.At last not only local residents almost major Jamshedpurians knows Mouni baba mandir/ashram. Mouni baba main sants name is there in temples name.

The reason I gave it one star is because I am from Jamshepur yet every year when I have to come to Jamshedpur. I have come all the way from Ranchi after landing at Ranchi which increases trip time. Its disappointing ,when we have airport in city but it is not open to public,then it has no meaning to be there.Taking it further ,most of the aiports which are located in different cities are open to public.VIP and VVIP , go to hell yaar. It just shows that we are overproud of our status. You are just burning the public down. When people ask you have airport in yourJamshedpur city , why dont you fly from there ?Everytime I see a plane taking off from Sonari airport ,I am damn sure its a private aircraft.

I have visited inside this Airport in one exhibition of JRD TATA.It’s ok from inside...It’s a private airport for Tata steel selected members only...Although it is spread over a large area.They don’t allow public service.I hope they will allow it for public after few days...It would be great to have a airport in Sonari...

Its only airport of the jamshedpur city. it is used in various types of private flights of Tata steel and for air ambulance. it is situated near sonari and kadma in the jamshedpur. its runway size is only 1.3 km.

Sonari Airport is fully owned by Tata Steel. We can say its a private property but it is public. Small runway of 4000 ft. Many times public air service has started by few aviation companies like, MDLR, Kingfisher etc. This airport commenced in 1940 with the area of 25 acres. The best thing of this airport is one day every year its open for common people to familiar with aeroplanes and the date is 29th July, which is a birthday of Indias very first licensed pilot Lt. JRD Tata. Beautiful airport. There is another facility for Commercial Pilot Licensing. Alchemist Aviation is operating as a training institute at Sonari Airport. If anyone wants to become a pilot they can join here.

Good place to walk. Roads are specious and not crowded.

It is not a public place. Sonari Airport is Tatas private airport. Not for public aviation. It only open for public visits once every year on 29th July. On the birthday of Bharat Ranta LATE SIR JRD TATA. People may see aeroplanes displayed here.

I wonder why people have given 4 star to this airport. I also wonder why it is not open for public. This airport does not even have basic facilities. No flights. It is only used for private companies, army and politicians. God only knows when this will be opened for public and when people of Jamshedpur will have access to flights.

Highly confused, do we really have local plans land here? Well, I dont see any local flights landing as of now, the only way to come in TATA nagar is by road or train, somehow the flights are not frequent and thats NOT good for a business city like this. It must have lots of flights with real good communication and pricing. The pricing is the KEY factor for any airport to run properly.

I want to fly here. It should be opened now. Have been waiting and hearing since my childhood that planes from other metro cities would land here soon. That soon has almost crossed 3 decades but still to land here by flight.
