The famous Dogra Art Museum in Jammu previously known as Dogra Art Gallery contains collection of Basohli paintings was inaugurated by Dr. Rajender Prasad. This museum has collections of Terracotta heads from Akhnoor. Sculptures, numismatics, manuscripts, dogra costumes, jewellery, arms and armoury, metal objects and decorative art. The intricately decorated marble jharokhas with inlay work of semi precious stones in the marble hall further embellishes the charisma of the museum collection.
The museum is home to a lot of sculptures, weaponry, traditional jewelleries, paintings, royal and religious memorabilia and artworks. A must visit if youre in Jammu. They allow taking limited number of photographs at the payment of some fees.As of the first week of February 2021, The other buildings here like the gol ghar and pink hall are shut off due to renovation. And there is a small well kept park in the middle of the premises.

The environment is really quite and peaceful amidst the noise of city. The buildings are also amazing. but the museum was closed for maintenance.
Great place to visit. Good collection of Dogra Art.
Aside from being culturally significant, every person visiting should keep his phone handy because if u use Google to find about various inscriptions, paintings, weapons, sculptures, paintings etc right there at the spot you will come out learning a lot of things. Sansar Barru Sharma paintings, and a modern Victorian sculpture in the underground fountain room I personally liked.
Dogra Art Museum, Jammu previously known as the Dogra Art Gallery is a museum of Dogra cultural heritage housed in the Pink Hall of the Mubarak Mandi complex, Jammu, India. The main attractions of the museum are the Pahari miniature paintings from BasohliIn its initial days it was known as the Ajaib Ghar, an Urdu term for the word Museum (Urdu used to be the court language then) and was housed in a mini hall having some collection of arms and old photographs where now the Assembly hall has been erected within in New Secretariat, Jammu. It was the first step towards setting up of a museum in the erstwhile Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu. After the states accession with the Union of India, a committee – in the year 1954 – was organized under the president-ship of Shri Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, the then Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq, Education Minister, Shri G.L.Dogra, Finance Minister, Master [Sansar Chand Baru] famous Artist and Prof.R.N.Shastri (now Padamshri) were the members of the committee. Some space in the Gandhi Bhawan Hall adjacent to New Secretariat was allotted to this committee for housing and display of artifacts. The Museum was inaugurated by the first president of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 18 April 1954[2] at the Gandhi Bhawan, Jammu as the Dogra Art Gallery. It was upgraded to a full-fledged museum and shifted to, its present building, the Mubarak Mandi Complex, Jammu. Master Sansar Chand Baru was appointed its first Curator Head

Dogra Art Gallery lures each and every visitor with its unique collection of paintings. Located in the Pink Hall of the Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex, this art museum is a rich repository that displays rare paintings possessing immense artistic value.More than 800 paintings belonging to different schools of art have found their place in this exquisite collection at the Dogra Art Gallery.Other than paintings, there are various other objects in the Dogra Art Gallery as well. These exhibited artifacts are also very interesting and appealing. They include exquisite sculptures, terracotta figures and heads of terracotta figures that date back to the 16th century.
You must visit there. This museum represents our dogra culture.
A place brimming with artefacts of Dogra culture and history. They have a plethora of vintage coins, apparel, and various items of daily use in the past. Seemingly small, the museum leads to many rooms pertaining to different parts of history.
