Baba Sodal was born in a family of the Chadha clan of the Khatri caste in Jalandhar city. It is said that one day, Baba Sodal’s mother went to the nearby pond to wash clothes and Baba Sodal followed her despite being told repeatedly not to do so and go back home.Losing her temper, Baba Sodals mother asked him to drown himself in the pond. Sodal asked her to repeat her words three times and as she did, he plunged into the water never to appear again. Some believe that he died on the spot, whereas some trust that he transformed into a snake and bored himself inside the earth.The Samadhi consisting of a painted portrait of Baba Sodal decorated with garland and rosaries is the main place of worship. There is a tank called Baba Sodal-da-Sarovar where pilgrims take a holy dip.Every year in mid September, a fair is held at the Samadhi on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. Sodal Mandir is a must visit Temple in Jalandhar. Its a small temple and not in so much of limelight bcoz of his simplicity. I feel God presence at this place. Always close to my heart and this place connect me with God. Sodal Mela is bit crowded, but you will enjoy coming to it. Baba Sodal Mela is one of the most important fairs in Punjab, organized to pay homage to Baba Sodal, a great soul. Each year, the Mela is organized in the month of Bhadon (September), in Jalandhar one of the most important cities of the north Indian state of Punjab. The fair particularly takes place on the 14th day of Shukal Paksh and is attended by thousands of pilgrims. Devotees gather from the world to pay a tributeLegend says that Baba Sodal took birth in the Chadha family of Khatri caste, in the city of Jalandhar and there are various stories associated with him. One of the stories goes that when he was a small boy he always used to follow his mother to the pond where she did washing inspite of the fact that he got scolding from her. Once she became very angry and cursed him to simply go away. He asked her to repeat it thrice. When she did so, he disappeared into the pond, never to be found again. This very day is celebrated as a Mela.

Situated across wide roads just 100m away from sodal chowk and is also approximately 2 kms from Jalandhar city Station.
