If it was a 3 star hotel, I would have given it a 4 star.Rooms are good and clean. Service is a bit slow but apart from that, its good. Not enough parking is available inside the premise. They charge more during the weekend wrt weekdays, but their service gets worst during weekends as well. There was huge crowd at the breakfast on Sunday and food was not available on the counter. We paid more and waited longer to get our breakfast.

A fine boutique hotel in a renovated residence. Umaid mahal has appx 40 single category rooms, a basement bar come restaurant, a roof top restaurant a gift shop and is located in the city appx 12 km from the airport. The rooms are spacious, colourfully decorated in traditional style and well appointed with all necessary items a traveller would require. The hotel has a large collection of historic photographs depicting royalty and military life. The roof top restaurant daily hosts an entertainment program from 7 to 9 PM. I only give this a bad review because as a young female I felt very uncomfortable using the pool. Every time I went to the pool the same member of staff would always come to the pool to clean the few leaves that had fallen into the pool and then constantly keep sweeping around the pool. This should be done before people use the pool not whilst people are using the pool as it looks bad because it looks like hes there just to watch me by the pool. It was hard to relax with him always there. So if your a female traveller looking to stay somewhere with a pool Id recommend going else where.Other wise the hotel was very good with good food and musicians and dancers in the evening who were very good so its a shame for this to ruin my experience. Also in the room there are hunting photos with lots of dead tigers in the photos. The bedroom isnt the place for these photos!

Umaid Mahal is one of the best budget hotels in Jaipur that offers a perfect sneak peek into the world of traditional Rajasthani hospitality, local culture, and homelike comfort. Umaid Bhawan Palace, located in Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, is one of the worlds largest private residences. A part of the palace is managed by Taj Hotels. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present owner Gaj Singh. The palace has 347 rooms and is the principal residence of the former Jodhpur royal family. A part of the palace is a museum.Ground for the foundations of the building was broken on 18 November 1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh and the construction work was completed in 1943.Recently, Umaid Bhawan Palace was awarded as the Worlds best hotel at the Travellers Choice Award, which was organised by TripAdvisor. The history of building the Umaid Bhawan Palace is linked to a curse by a saint who had said that a period of drought would follow the good rule of the Rathore Dynasty. Thus, after the end of about 50-year reign of Pratap Singh, Jodhpur faced severe drought and famine in the 1920s for a period of three consecutive years. The farmers of the area, faced with this hardship, sought the help of the then king Umaid Singh, who was the 37th Rathore ruler of Marwar at Jodhpur, to provide them with some employment so that they could survive the harsh conditions. The king, in order to help the farmers, decided to build a lavish palace. He commissioned Henry Vaughan Lanchester as the architect to prepare the plans for the palace; Lanchester was a contemporary of Sir Edwin Lutyens, who had planned the buildings of the New Delhi government complex. Lanchester patterned the Umaid Palace on the lines of the New Delhi building complex by adopting the theme of domes and columns. The palace was designed as a blend of western technology and Indian architectural features.

A fairly good hotel at its price, its located at Bani Park which is very close to the Jaipur railway station so its quite convenient for the travelers. The rooms r spacious n the decor is royal. However the staff is untrained and the gentry can be a problem at such an affordable price! Read on...We had a group of hooligans staying at the time when we were visiting, they would behave crazily at breakfast (cut queues n eat a bite of cake and keep it back!) and their children(10+ years of age) were running around naked at the pool side and were openly pissing in itWhich ruined everyones pool experience. The breakfast is pretty average but otherwise the food we ordered for dinner was good. The guy at the reception was also very courteous and informative about localTravelling n sightseeing. The hotel is located very close to the Railway Station and Bus Station but presence of multiple hotels with similar names makes it little difficult to trace. The hotel tries to offer multiple amenities but in a very compact manner. This place definitely has a traditional touch in the decor but it doesnt have that traditional feel at all. The staff were helpful but little laid-back types. The person on the front desk was very helpful and had great knowledge about the place and its history. I found the food range to be decent but not very good. Price-wise this definitely a nice choice, but for ones who would like to experience a royal touch of Rajasthan, there are better options available in Jaipur.

Overall the experience was nice. we had our 4 year daughter who enjoyed a lot, though we did not manage time to use the pool. The rooftop restaurant was nice, but the walls are very low. Children should be cautious about it. Cleanliness and toiletries were good; they provided dental kit and hair dryer when we asked, free of cost. Nice place for a boutique hotel. We stayed here for two nights in December second week. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and hygienic. Although the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. On one of the days, I ordered lunch, Rajasthani vegetarian fare, which turned out to be quite well prepared. Elevator access is available but it is very small so may not be a good fit for travelers with a pram for babies.Since, it has limited number of rooms and is fully occupied during peak seasons, early check-in may be a challenge. One of my pet peeves or turn offs with such places is that they would give you three 500 ml bottles of water complimentary for a day and above that, water would be charged for, for some overpriced amount. I felt that for the price of the room and a family of four staying, it wasnt enough and not a great experience. Apart from that, it was a good stay overall.
