Pros:- tasty food- owner is very attentive to your order and ensures you get what you have exactly ordered- my Girlfriend felt the food was a bit spicy for her (she has low tolerance of spice) so the owner ensure that he gave her sweetned curry to mix with the regular curry to make it enjoyable for her as well.Cons:- place is a bit hard to find as there are no signboards below on the street indicating the restaurant is on top.All in all if you mange to find this place you are in for a treat.

Their foods were tasty and their signature is garlic naan. It was very delicious as they use fresh ingredients and herbs to make the naan. However hygiene wise I would need to deduct some points and also for the setting and standard, they are over-charging the customers.

Small rooftop restaurant on the wall of the Pink City. The entrance is a stairway in between a couple of clothing stores and can be easy to miss, but keep an eye for a stairway and sign that says Ganesh Restaurant above it.Once you head up stairs, youll see a rooftop with chairs and tables. The sun was beaming while we were there so we opted to sit inside which was nicer compared to being outside.Food was delicious and some of the best curry Ive had so far in India. Definitely recommend the garlic naan. We asked for no butter or ghee to be used and only a little bit of oil to be used and they understood and delivered. We were also offered a palate cleanser at the end of our meal with aniseed (I think) and sugar.A little pricier than what youd normally pay (lunch was 700 rupees for two curries, two garlic naans and a serving of rice) but well worth the extra money.

This was the most adventurous Ive been on my India trip with a friend. We are two women travelling across Rajasthan for 2 weeks. Got there at 6pm and the first part of the adventure is finding the entrance (see picture). We then climbed to the first floor where the restaurant was indicated to us, and were greeted by a group of men, just staring. Continued to the left and realised there was absolutely no one, but another group of another 8-9 men about the kitchen area. We were greeted furthermore with a nerve-wracking laugh by two waiters. Finally got to order the Ganesh special (curry with chickpeas, paneer, onions, red peppers and cabbage) and the garlic naan. It was delicious, but the atmosphere was just too overwhelming for us to enjoy our dinner without worrying about our safety. Would recommend solo female travellers do not go by themselves and to probably wait until 7pm not to feel too awkward about sitting completely alone.

While walking in the corridor of Nehru Bazaar, you might miss this small 2’6” entrance which leads to a narrow and straight flight of staircase and ultimately to a metal board showing direction to Ganesh Restaurant with the help of an arrow.Food is typical Rajasthani and awesome. Its a jugaadu Roof Top but yes, the overall ambience needs to be worked on tremendously!!The place will not impress at all but if you are fond of Rajasthani food like Sev Tamatar ki sabji and Garlic naan, please avoid all foul smell and broken metal furniture... jus enjoy the taste of food in front of you!!

This restaurant should stop being recommended by Lonely Planet. Even though the place is on the top of the remparts, they abuse from tourists and added 15% tax, no detailed bill, and no explanations on the taxes. Stopped speaking English when we noticed that and we could’t do anything. Local Indians confirmed they did not pay any tax. They takes advantages from tourist and this should not be suggested by Lonely Planet. When reading Google comments for this restaurant, they are used to do that and my comment is not the first about this!

L cant understand why it is recommended! Food was ok, but nothing special. Much too expensive. Prices on the menu are already much above average. What really made me angry was that he then presented a bill with just a singe number on it, which appeared to be much too high, even for the high Prices from the menu. I listed my 4 dishes and grabbed the menu, which he had hidden behind his counter - obviously for a reason. It turned out that he had made up new prices in his head. I payed the corrected amount (about 100 Rs less) - while he was swearing. But finally he agreed as he realised his betrayal had failed. Do not go there or at least watch out!

I read the previous reviews about the more expensive tourist costs and thought I’d give it a try anyway. We had the garlic naan (110 rupees), paneer butter masala (180), Ganesh special curry (180) and rice (100). All dishes were good and delivered promptly. We ate while the four older gentlemen sat at the register and another four guys who worked there sat and stared at us. The rooftop was novel without much of a view. The bill was written on a slip of paper and when we inquired as to the greater total, the server explained it was a service tax. We didn’t drink the bottled water they had on the table, which wasn’t complimentary. A local family showed up later, yet I couldn’t see if they got the so-called local prices. It was $12.50 CAN for dishes that I thought were okay, not amazing. It made me feel better when I walked across to Sweet Dream restaurant and saw they had the same prices for their plates.

Ganesh Restaurant is roof-top dhaba located near M I Road, a short walking distance from Bapu Bazar / Nehru Bazar.A colleague who has been their loyal customer for many years, brought me here for lunch. On 1st look, it didnt seem like a restaurant but I was told that the tables are put up (in the open area) in the evening. We were seated in the dining area outside the kitchen. We ordered for GATTE KI SUBZI [INR 80], PANEER BUTTER MASALA [INR 90], SEV TAMATAR [INR 80], MASALA ROTI [INR 15]Gatte Ki Subzi was nice & flavourful with Gatte were nicely cooked. Paneer cubes though small were soft, the gravy tasted similar to the Gatte Ki Subzi gravy. Sev Tamatar was made slightly spicy on request but tomatoes were cut into huge chunks; 4 pieces from one tomato, which made it uncomfortable to consume. Masala Roti was a nice innovation, a mix of dry spices was sprinkled on the dough & then baked in the Tandoor. All in all the food was good to taste; slightly oily in texture.Hygiene in the dining area is one thing which I think the restaurant lacked. The kitchen looks pretty old but could do with a nice touch up & being kept a bit more clean.A good dining experience!

Worst food i’ve eaten in my 6 months in India. In a city like Jaipur where everyone is serving up amazing street food and the little hole in the wall cafes turning out great dishes this place is a disgrace and double the price. They served old reheated rotis! I never had that in 6 months in India. Just the worst. Back home I wouldn’t have paid for that meal. Somehow lonely planet has it listed in their guide so they can get away with serving awful food at inflated prices. The only meal I left in india in six months.

We found this restaurant in the lonely planet India guide book. Despite tasty food there was multiple scams that the owner tried to rake advantage of of us as foreign tourists.1- The total of our meal was 530. He claimed tax was 70 INR but it should have been 26 INR. He claimed tax was 15% despite 5% GST being the standard in India. He refused to explain the extra 10% and eventually lowered once challenged. An official receipt was never issued so I doubt he is even giving the tax collected to the government.2-The English menu is different than the Hindi menu. The prices are higher on the English menu.Lonely planet needs to drop their recommendation of this restaurant.

The food was ok, but the owner was upset when we approached some locals for recommendations. (We had the menu in our hands which was probably with tourist prices). When we received the bill it was over twice as much as we should have payed. Just a number without a detailed description. He refused to show us the menu with the prices and made a new sum which was less. Once we left he followed us in the street and said we hadn’t payed enough. Really dishonest!

While the placement on this map is incorrect, if you can find this place (on the wall of the old city, up a stairwell between two shops just west of New Gate) you will not be dissapointed. While it doesnt look like much (its really just a section of the old wall with some table and chairs spread about) the food will impress. The staff are very friendly and get excited when you take an interest in their cooking. Check out the clean little kitchen (not hard, its right there on display) and watch the cooks make you some awesome garlic naan or the Ganesh Special, then enjoy your meal while watching the goings-on of Jaipur take place on the street below. Incredible value for money and probably the best meal I had in my 5 weeks touring India. A-lip-smacking-Plus
