Decent Indian restaurant in town with non vegetarian food

I have visited this place many time with friends. The Food was average. But I felt the quality was dropping with time. Service also not that great. One day it got 2 hours to deliver our food. As I was with friends, I was able to pass the time. But after that I have never been there.

Had a biryani and a fried rice. It was tasty, but wasn’t worth the price and the ambience sucks.

Good food with reasonable prices. Interior needs modernization and updating. Great place for take out. Call in your order 40 mins to an hour before.

We didnt sleep there but we ate twice there. The food was really good. A little more expansive than others hotels in Jaffna but worth it !!You can bring your own alcohol, next to it there is a liquor store that close at 9PM.The place to eat in Jaffna

We ordered the “Jaffna crab curry” and the “pepper fried prawns” together with “Garlic naan”. They delivered and the quantity was sufficient.The food tasted great.Let’s face it, “Cosy Restaurent” would never be “Ministry of crab” but then again “ministry of crab” would never be “Cosy Restaurent” either.I for one, enjoyed the food and I thought that it was worth the money spent. Caveat: people on Jaffna do love their spices, be cautious 🙂 I’ve taken two stars off for ambience and cleanliness. Maybe I could’ve rated this 3.5 ⭐️ if google allowed it. Happy dining!!!

We as a group went to Cosy restaurant as this is the only Indian restaurant seems to be having good choice for vegetarians as well as non vegetarians.But many of those Indian bread items as well as vegetarian side dishes mentioned in the menu were missing. The waiter said these are the only items available which made me regret visiting the restaurant at first place.Those who ordered non veg had ok feeling about their food. I really dont understand the purpose of having a Biiiiiiig menu but having only few items available. WHY YOU NOT REMAKE MENU IF YOU DONT HAVE ITEMS?The main reason Im giving one start is because of the HUGE DELAY. It took more than an hour to deliver our food. Few of our friends got extremely furious and went without eating their food.The waiter was ok to accept the mistake and canceled few items we ordered after explaining the situation. He also apologized for what happened.But still this restaurant as a whole deserve single star. I think they have some kind of mono-play because they are offering poor service and still having business. May be because they have bar? Or may be because Jaffna people are very less demanding.

So Im giving this 3 star solely on the food and staff. If you get authentic southern Asian food, such as curries, then youre in for a treat. I havent tried any western food and I dont plan to.Get food the country is good at cooking and get easily accessible produce when buying a meal, such fish or vegetable. Jaffna is and is surrounded by fishing villages. Also it has over hundred things on the menu, so what do you think theyll have in stock and be able to cook well? Not a lasagne thats for sure.The reason this place loses one of the stars is due to lack of cleanliness. Everything is dirty. The other star is lost for its bare minimum facilities. Having said this its not unlivable. I happily stayed here.It doesnt do luxury but the food makes up for it.

A non ac place which was very warm. It took them nearly 2 hours to bring our food to the table. And Im taking about the soup. Our kids nearly went to sleep by the time food arrived.The food wasnt tasty as much we had in other restaurants in jaffna. And also have to mention the mutton curry we ordered wasnt mutton but mixed with beef. Very disappointing.

Picked up some food on 6th August 2019. Except for the Noodles, (veg/cosy special), the rest of them were so bad and tasteless! The mushroom 65 was too salty, the so called hot butter cuttlefish, was soggy and rubbery, instead of crispy and buttery. The devilled chicken was a disaster - didnt even taste like fresh chicken. As a Jaffna local who works abroad, and someone who had known Cosy during its heydays, I was totally disappointed. There was a time, when quality was held supreme. Sadly, in terms of food, that no longer holds true. I hope the owner, Sutharshan, takes note and rectifies matters soon.

Great food and great service for a fair price. A very nice courtyard area at the back with lots of atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Came for Jaffna crab curry and it was so horrible. Over salted and no spice. It was bland and salty. The cucumber Raita was watery. Ordered chapati and poori and the portion of chapati was not enough even for a kid (two tiniest flat chapaties). So wanted to order some rice but the rude waiter just said it will take 15 mins. Then for for a tea again 10-15 mins. This was not even a busy 4pm!

Nice place to have meal, good service, tasty and many variety foods u can get here. If u are hungry go and enjoy.

The tandoori chicken had been cooked earlier and was merely reheated in the oven. how long ago it had been cooked I can’t say. all i can say is that it was dry like cold chicken is. thankfully I didn’t have to pay for it, as it was a taken off the bill. everything else was ok

The food is really bad. We take Hyderabad biryani and chicken pakoda. But both are like too bad. Cosy is one of my favourite restaurant on early 2015 and 16 but now it is getting worst

For jafna, its a good restaurant for travelers. Relatively wide selection of food although service can be slow when busy. No alcohol.

One of my favourite restaurants in Jaffna.Cosy Special mixed fried rice, Sea Food Nasi, Garlic Naan, Jaffna Crab curry and Jaffna Mutton curry are some that I can highly recommend.Dine in, take a way and cash on the delivery options are quite decent too

The service started out OK and food was OK too...until we found a dead fly in one of the curries. The waiter couldnt get a manager quickly when we complained about it, but even a manager showed up, they didnt appear to sincerely apologize about it. They just took that curry out of the bill and although it was not the waiters fault, removed the service charge (we could see how they treat their employees).Also, the glasses they gave us for water had stains.This place has no standards and the management is irresponsible.

Great food, moderately priced,nice atmosphere & byob.The gravies are rich and delicious, we had: mushroom masala, paneer butter masala and Jaffna crab curry (soooo delicious) and butter naans (perfect)As people say the seviced is slow (45mins) and probably gets slower as restaurant fills up.You can byob which i suggest bringing a few beers to have while you wait.We went on a friday evening 730 to 9pm and the later it got the more groups showed up and it got louder.The prices are moderate 350-700 for curries and around 200 for naan, but its a nice atmosphere and amazing food.For best experience: show up early, bring a beer or wine, sit on patio and order any of the Jaffna special curries.

Very nice curry and traditional made naan. Waiter was a little bit cranky, but service was fine in the end. We had a good look in the tandoori oven when our naans where baked! 😀

Staff is friendly but place is not that great. We havent tried the food but we are quite suspicious how a restaurant can serve so many various dishes. We stayed there for 4 nights and there was no room service, we didnt ask also.

It was the first restaurant i visited in Jaffna on my trip and right from the beginning their service was good. They speak all three languages (Englush, Sinhala, Tamil) which is even rare in Colombo so communication is no barrier. The food took some time to arrive at the table though. Their fresh juices were good. We got the lime and pineapple. Food vise, the biriyani and the hot batter cuttlefish were the only two i liked from everything we ordered. Its a spacious Restaurent.

They allow Alcohol nowadays. People who drink disturbing the public.Not suitable for family dining.Quality of the food has come down.High waiting time.Head chef is arrogant.

In my opinion it was good but my Sri Lankan friends said it was mediocre as they didnt use the moringa leaves for the Jaffna curries though it was a bit expensive for Jaffna price. Its a nice place to chill, the courtyard is pretty spacious. The crowd is a mix of locals and tourist.
