Such a perfect stop to stretch your legs and bring your dogs for a much needed walk in between travel destinations. The scenery is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! Perfect place to rebalance your soul. The sound of the water flowing is so relaxing. Most of all the staff are very informative and genuinely kind folks. We will be back very soon.
Simply amazing!!! It was our first time there, and the park is beautiful! It has great hiking trails and so much to do. We rented a yurt for our glamping experience. They are so cool! Make sure to bring your own firewood, linens, and utensils. The bath house is right across the street, and has toilets and showers. It was a great way to ease the kids into camping. We had the best time together ❤I look forward to going back!
Our family stayed in 2 yurts at High Falls for 2 nights. The yurts were great with strong air conditioning, which I wasnt expecting. The beds are a set of full over full bunkbeds and a sofa that converts to an additional bed. Each yurt has a dresser, small mirror, and furniture on the porch. Yurts 4,5, and 6 are a great location to the lake, dock, and bathrooms. Also close to dumpster for trash removal. I was surprised that we could hear road noise, which seemed to come from 1-75. Amenities like the pool and putt putt were closed. The playground was refurbished since we last visited and was nice. The bathrooms were clean. The camp hosts were friendly and sold firewood, etc. It rained most of our trip so we did not hike the trails as hoped, but fished a lot with not much luck. Theres a convenience store just outside the park that sells bait. A Dollar General is also close.
A Stunning, breathtaking park! The office ladies were both gracious and eager to help or answer any questions. The view of the Dam is wonderful, however, the falls are magnificent! I will share what photos I have but I didnt get to see the nature trails. There is a very minimal daily fee for access/parking, but it is worth it!A MUST See location!
Beautiful place! Spacious camp sites, most are level and easy to get into depending on the size of your camper. Most sites are 30 Amp but they have several 50 Amp as well. There are really nice walking trails, playground, picnic shelters and a mini golf course! There is a pool and concession area but that is not open right now due to covid. They also have some nice yurts with a great view of the lake. There is a lot to see and do in this area; water slides right down the road, as well as Indian Springs, Dauset Trails Nature Center, and Noahs Ark Animal Sanctuary that are all close by. There is a Dollar General and a hardware store within walking distance. We loved our time here!
High falls is a compact park with a lot going on. From camping to hiking, from boating to education theres a lot to learn. While the falls are the highlight, the lake is also a pleasure and theyve boats you can use.The primitive campsites hold nearly a score of folks.Wheelchair folks will enjoy some parts of the park, but should be careful on the trails.
What a great park! Loved all the trails. They were very well marked. The waterfalls are beautiful. Campground was relaxing and clean.
The lake camp ground is spread out and nice. It gets a bit too much road noose for my liking, but the river loops are packed like sardines...if river camp ground go for sights 89, 86, or 11...if lake go for the North end of the loop loke 110, 109. The falls are really something else.
Even though we stopped in for 1 night. I can tell this is a place I want to return to in warmer weather. They have some interesting hiking trials and history to learn. The campground is nice and manicured. It is very well kept and clean. The bathhouse is very clean. There is also a washer and dryer. Which is a plus. It appears that there are washer and dryers at all the bathouses which is very nice.
This is a Beautiful place. Less than a mile off of I-75 & the main waterfall is at the first of the trail. The River trail is only 1.5 miles round trip. I highly recommend this place.
Great time with family and friends. They have a pool, playground, hiking trail, and plenty of space to hang for the day with good people.
Great place to camp with your RV. We enjoyed our time there. The state park was well kept, really pretty and the staff (hosts) were friendly.
Beautiful place to come. Very large. Various places to be. Playground. Bathroom. Not packed with people ever. My dogs loved it. I keep coming back.
Nice peaceful stop for needed break. We were in Forsyth and rode out to see the falls. My wife is partially disabled, but we were able to make the short walk on the “historic” trail. It has just been redone, only a few hundred yards, no stairs, nice and flat gravel trail. The trails are nice, and the overlook provides great view.
We always love to go here! Beautiful spot! Its always nice and clean and well kept. There are several picnic areas with and without the pavilion shelter. We ate our lunch here today. Absolutely perfect!
This is the most beautiful RV park that we have ever stayed at! We felt like we were in Paradise! The bathrooms and showers are exceptionally clean. The grounds are well maintained. We were there over a week and wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back to this awesome park!
Love High Falls. Wish the boat rentals had longer hours as far as when you can rent. Fishing is not that great. Not sure if lake is filled with fish. Clean . I love the peace, Also have walking trails, yurts.
The water falls are a site to see. The trails are well marked but need a little maintenance. The park is only about 3 miles from interstate 75 south of Atlanta.
Great place for a hike. Beautiful view of the lake. The yurt was comfortable. The heavy rain did not bother us.
Great campground! Close to I-75, plenty to do for everyone. Waterfalls, dam and 600 acre lake, plus the river made it great for kayaking and fishing.
Beautiful park to have a picknic day or just walk or hike, you can also camp there, amazing waterfalls.
The gated campground was a nice feature. Made us feel safe and secure. Even when the campground is fairly full it a pretty quiet spot. Sites are nice mostly level gravel sites with decent space between. There are some 50 amp site too. Also a real nice feature is the grey water dump sites throughout the campground. Its not located in a real high end area. The local dollar general needs some cosmetic upgrades.
Ive been here twice, now. Both times it was very pleasant, clean and ready to get around. The first time there were very few people, which I appreciated during these times. The second time it was much more crowded. However, having a pavilion helped separating is from the crowds. All in all, one cannot find a better bargain for $5.
Absolutely amazing. The water fall is lovely. The hike was serene and peaceful. Great cleansing for the soul. I highly recommend going. You wont be disappointed.
Its one of the most beautiful peaceful joyful relaxing place Ive been to I really enjoy spending time at high falls.
Super cool spot.
Middle Georgias hidden gem of a place to visit while camping, fishing, paddle boarding, hiking & exploring the Great Outdoors.
Its wonderful been going there for years . Fishing, hiking, alot to do
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! 🥰
Beautiful park. Nice little trails. A place to launch crafts. And access too utilities. If you like seeing sites this is a good place.
Absolutely beautiful and well kept! At least 2 falls. Easy hike. Theres paid parking and people patrolling to make sure you paid. A play ground with swings and slide. Plenty of parking! Covered picnic areas! The trail continues on the other side of the main road. Will be back for more views!
Great nature n wonderful waterfall especially if you dont care or cant hike far. $5 day parking is fair.
Awesome park with beautiful views.
Great state park! Really enjoyed our camping stay here. Very clean everywhere and well maintained. Great roads for walking or riding bikes, and the host are always very nice. Great easy hiking trails with overlooks of the waterfalls as well.
I wasnt sure about the name of this place, because the area doesnt seem too mountainous in this area on I75. Glad I ventured off the interstate to check it out. Take High Falls road about 2 miles from I75, pull in, pay, and walk across the road to the falls. There are trails, but you dont have to go far to see what you want to see. I would say the hike down next to the fals is a medium level hike if you go further than the large fall look out. I definitely loved it and will be back.
I really enjoyed it here! It’s so pretty, & the trails are easy to follow. Dog friendly! I went before 10 AM so it wasn’t crowded at all. Did two of the trails- the Tranquility Trail & the other one to see the falls. Will definitely be returning 😁
Pretty good state park. It was very clean and there were plenty of areas to sit and have a picnic. They offered water activities like canoe but I didn’t do it. The trail was nice and short if you want to do a quick hike. Good time for 1-2 hours.
Another great trip to High Falls State Park, took the Tranquility trail from the campsite to the falls.
The falls are beautiful and the campsite is nice. Theres two sides to the camping, the river side and the lake side. Unfortunately during our stay the pool was closed and they didnt have boats. Not sure if they had kayaks available, but all boating equipment was not being rented out at the time of our stay. The camp site we had was nice. I was able to put up a hammock, however our tent pad was small and the way it was set up the tent was very close to the fire pit. It looks like an older campground and the fire pits could use some lifting up. I feel its really close to a town as we hear sirens and a train throughout the evening but thankfully the sound of traffic died down after night fall. Ultimately its a beautiful place and we do plan on coming back. We ay least have a good idea of some more secluded sites well try to get next time.As for the falls it is beautiful and if you dont come camping, come for the falls. You cant swim in the lake or the river, but up the way at indian springs you can.
Great place for proposals/ romantic outings. Amazing views and beautiful clean trails! My 5 year old daughter loves this place
This park is a beautiful relaxing location. To enjoy a wonderful time with your family and also if you just decide to come up to have a relaxation calming moment near the water by yourself
Great hike and relaxing walk.
A quick stop off I-75 between Macon and Atlanta lets you stretch your legs, see a few waterfalls and maybe hike down a trail and shoot high-value TikTok footage. Stay inside the boundaries, of course. Look for the creaking trees.
Second time visiting and enjoyed it even more the second time around got to do some trails tried geocaching but wasnt lucky in finding anything. Private location to take my niece camping.
The hike in the park was beautiful. The campground, not so much. We couldnt go swimming or play mini golf. The bathrooms were not very clean. There is no boat rentals any more and you cant bring a boat over 10hp. The only saving grace for this place was the falls.
Stayed in a yurt for a few days and it was very nice. The waterfall and hiking along the Towaliga River were a big hit with the family, especially since the remnants of Hurricane Sally had just dumped a lot of rain in the area. The campgrounds (along the lake) were nice, as well. The only downside was the ants.So. Many. Ants.Fortunately, they were not in the yurt.
Very nice State Park. Perfect for a picnic lunch. Never been here before and is relatively close to home.... well be back again soon. Very light attendance, plenty of room for social distancing. Didnt notice many people with masks (other than wife & I) but it was easy to maintain proper distance. Lavatories very clean and properly stocked. Yurt camp sites look cool! We may try that one weekend.Highly recommended.
Great park. Very well organized. Clean campsites and bathroom. Great place to ride bikes around. The hikes to the waterfall were also beautiful. Would definitely recommend to all looking for a nice place to camp.
Lake tchukolako after the Dam broke last year.
Great place to hike.
Nice place to visit.
This was our 2nd time here hiking. Clean and peaceful. Good hiking with kids.
A very nice park with spectacular views of rapids & cascades where the Towaliga river falls 135 feet in 1/5 mile. Take the short falls view hike starting on the east side of the bridge for best views. The campground has several sites right on the west bank of the river, which is slow moving and tranquil at that point. For early July the campground was surprisingly free of bugs. Cell service (Verizon) was spotty, at least in Loop C. The lakeside campground has 6 yurts for rent, each with decks overlooking the lakeThe park gets a one star demotion for having a beautiful large swimming pool & lakeside pavilion that for some reason will not be available all summer.
Awesome place. Ive been here a lot!! Definitely recommend.
Beautiful park with very peaceful vibes
Amazing, clean and peaceful park! Historic trail is awesome! We will bring a kayak to explore High Falls Lake next time.
Nice spacious campsites. Grill and fire pit. Good privacy. Nicely maintained. Beautiful Tranquility trail to High Falls just 0.3 miles from River side campground.
Always a relaxing experience whenever we camp here .
Great stop off on are way too Chattanooga from Florida.
A beautiful, well organized GA state park. Our stay was very rainy but what a nice place to be even in the rain.
Love this place!! Animal friendly is a plus!
We camped in a tent and had a blast. The lake was beautiful and great for fishing, the trails were fun to hike and not too challenging for my 3yo but not too boring for my 13 yo. The falls were beautiful but far enough from campsite that we couldnt hear them.
Beautiful trails, running along each side of the falls. The trails are well marked and maintained. The views are spectacular. There are places toward the end of the trail your dog can get a drink in the river. I would definitely come back.
A couple great short hike loops. Amazing views. The recent rainfall and flooding made it jaw dropping
We love to hike at High Falls and decided to stay in one of the yurts for one night and it was lovely. The campground restrooms were always clean and there are multiple small stores near if you should need extra supplies. Super easy and fun stay.
What a spectacular park. The falls, the lake, the hike are all so beautiful. The park has generous picnic areas with incredible vistas. The campground is very nice with really cool YURTS that you can rent that have lake views. Rent kayaks or paddle boats and the place also has a pool. The falls trail offers really cool views of the Falls and the rushing water. Also, the lake was so pleasant for paddling.
Great place for the family, nice and peaceful. I believe the parking was only five dollars and the pass works for both parks in the area ( ten minutes apart ) so if youre ever down or around Jackson G.A give this place a chance and enjoy life.... if you have the time. The only down side is the play areas for kids that I seen werent handicap accessible, and there was no shade so the equipment was blistering hot at 9 a.m
Beautiful. Peaceful. Only a few other campers. We had site 111 which had a few nice paths down to the lake and a nice view of the lake. Helpful and nice camp hosts. We were only there 1 night, as we were just passing through.
Its a cool place. Plenty of room especially if you want to bring your young kids for a hike. The bathrooms need to be updated, but theyre functional. I wish this state park had more trails than what they do, but its a good place!
Had a good weekend fish three days call caught all these fish two of Us
Stayed in yurt#4, absolutely loved it! Nice view of the lake
Beautiful nature hike! Uneven ground so watch your step. Clean and clearly marked trails.
Waterfall and trails were beautiful.
Probably the most fun weve had this year out of all of our adventures! As always, very nice staff and well maintained. We visited the gift shop area and went on over to the falls. Beautiful is an understatement. My kids had so much fun hoping around and exploring. We were working on the Junior Ranger Badge this weekend and found a lot of critters and information about High Falls for the water study unit. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is a nice park and it has RV camping and trails. However I did not like the bees that made me uncomfortable we left before I really wanted to because of it. Those views are outstanding and it is very tranquil if you can ignore the flying and crawling insects but thats what nature is all about. LOL I pray that God continues to bless this land that he has given man to steward and the hard working staff that keeps the place looking so nice. Amen 😇🌹
This place is an absolute gem!! I recommend having a picnic near the dam and taking the trail to the left of the river! Will definitely be back here.
We had an afternoon family gathering in mid June here. The facility available was an outside covered shelter. Tables were available and helpful. Cost was very reasonable. Would recommend for early spring or late fall gathering; I think a summer gathering would be too hot to be enjoyable.
High Falls is one of those places you won’t easily find, but will become a place to remember. Who would have known that these beautiful rushing waters were just a few miles off I75 just north of Macon GA. Situated in a tiny little town, High Falls offers some spectacular views to give you the perfect break in your travels. The north side has picnic tables and a nice shaded covering to relax and enjoy something other than the typical fast food while traveling. Stop and grab a nice lunch, sit and enjoy the view. The south side is where the real beauty lies. Walk down the stairs and you’ll hear the rushing waters. Keep venturing and you’ll see some truly beautiful scenery. Birds are everywhere and the sound is just amazing. Keep your feet planted as you step down the uneven path and you can become fully immersed in some of the best natural beauty Georgia has to offer. Definitely recommend a visit here whether your breaking up a long trip or you live nearby. Either way, you won’t leave disappointed. Perfect spot to work on your photo technique and bring home some beautiful memories. Enjoy and as always.. take only memories and leave only footprints.
Fun day out hiking with the family
My family and I camped here during Thanksgiving. There are two separate areas with wonderful campsites, one on the lake and another on the river. The lake has yurt rentals as well as paddle boards, kayaks and canoes available. Lots of beautiful trails and sites of interest. We werent able to see everything but we plan to return for a visit in the future.
Superb camping with adjacent nature trails and a waterfall. If sites had sewer connections this would be perfect!
Nice spacious campground. Some sites are wooded, blocking the river view in the summer. The trees do provide nice shade on hot summer days! Some campsites are surrounded by beautiful green grass. Would have given this park 5 stars, but the bathroom near our campsite was not as clean as I would have wanted it to be. Nice gift shop, w ice. Nice playground area for the kids. Very nice & helpful rangers. The waterfall & surrounding areas, Beautiful.
The trail I went on was short, but the views were nice.
There isnt a whole lot here, but the trails are nice and its a good use of the space and nature provided.
This park never disappoints!! It is easy find, sparkling clean, and quiet. The sites are spaced well and entrance is gaited. That means only those with the code can enter.Love this place! I go out of my way to stay there
Falls are beautiful! The falls trail is a bit steep in spots, though it is not long.
