Also knows as Madan Mahal Fort. Amazing city view from the top of the fort. Im sure that once every citizen must have come here at least. The fort dates back to 11th century AD. The Rajgond rulers reigned over Jabalpur, Mandla and surrounding regions. Madan Mahal is one such fort built by them.Therere many myths floating about the fort of the Gonds. It is said to harbor gold bricks and Gond treasures hidden somewhere in it in accessible underground folds.A tunnel covering a long distance is said to be located somewhere around the precinct, a possible escape route and transportation artery of the Gonds.

The Fort is near the spot Balancing Rock. Like all other fort you have to reach on top climbing 200 plus stairs. Midway there is a temple and a tiny lake make the journey enjoyable. From the top a large part of the city is visible and looks beautiful. Due to absence of caretaker we were unable to go inside as it was under lock. The place is not maintained well by the authority. No entry fee is there.

Good place. Especially at winter sunset time. Else would be too hot. Total area is surrounded by hard granite or sand stone.Scenic beauty is very good. Very enjoying place for selfie lovers. There are steps to reach the fort. Also there is another way on backside of the hill through a dargah. Adventure lovers can reach the fort by trecking using that way. But both the ways are a bit tedious & hard for weak & aged tourists. No entry fees.

But this is just one of the many gifts that Jabalpur offers. Here you will enjoy the privilege to experience surreal spectacles of nature romance mans endeavours to carefully preserve the breath-taking imperial history. No wonder it has been a witness to some of the greatest episodes written by history, folklore and mother nature.Jabalpur is sure to amaze you, whichever direction you turn to, reminiscent of your trips to fun-fairs as a child.

From this place one can get the birds eye view of the city of Jabalpur. The stairs to the top of the fort start just after the famous balancing rock. While going atop everyone visits one small Shiva Temple located midway. The stairs are not much, it took 10 mins to reach top of the fort. There is no maintenance of the fort. Nowadays this historical place has become more of a couple picnic spot. Can be visited once.

Situated atop a hill in Jabalpur city is a small but enchanting fort of the Rajgond rulers. It was more of a manned post on vigil for invaders now enveloped in shroud of history. The fort dates back to 11th century AD. The fort is well associated with Rani Durgavati the Gond Queen and her son Veer Narayan. Rani Durgavati eventually died fighting the mughals and is hailed as a martyr in Indian history. She also built numerous temples and tanks scattered around Jabalpur chiefly around her Garha principality.[2]The Rajgond rulers reigned over Jabalpur, Mandla and surrounding regions. Madan Mahal is one such fort built by them. Though not exactly an architectural marvel, the little fort is characterized by intrigue of ancient monuments in India.[3]The structure generates an aura of awe being compact and yet fully equipped for martial encounters. The stable, war rooms, small reservoir and main pleasure chamber of the rulers offer visitors much to see and admire.[4]The monument is situated at a height of about five hundred meters on the hill of same name. The Balancing Rock is a huge stone balanced on the tip of another. It is a geological wonder on the way to the fort. There are many myths floating about the fort of the Gonds. It is said to harbor gold bricks and Gond treasures hidden somewhere in it in accessible underground folds. A tunnel covering a long distance is said to be located somewhere around the precinct - a possible escape route and transportation artery of the Gonds.

Marvel of our rich cultural heritage. The view is breath taking, you see have a panaromic view of the entire Jabalpur city; As a fort is meant to be guarding from all sides. The big boulders aka Jabal takes it truest destiny here.Sadly very understated, and in need of a good narrative to make the visit a memorable one.The area us under world heritage, now with all encroachments being pulled down, hopefully in a year or so it will be even more tourist friendly and scenic.

The only way to reach the fortress is to climb around 200 stairs which can exhaust you. Except this, it a very nice and historic place which is now preserved by the Government of India, where you can hangout with your family on a cool and breazy day.

The campus of this fort has many temples and mosque. Entire city view is visible from the top of this fort. This place has an adequate parking. The distance from main road is approximately 600 metres. The fort is made up of rocks. except the watch tower rest all the structure is deformed. This location is good for photography. Madan Mahal Fort or Rani Durgavati fort is one of the top places to see In Jabalpur, Madan Mahal Fort is around 20Kms from Jabalpur city. This place is particularly good for trekking as well. The fort is very small but the beauty is that it is constructed on top of a natural rock, which is amazing one can have the view of city from the top of it. It’s very tough to go up to the Fort, itll take around 30mins and for aged and people with cardiac issue should not go there, many balancing rocks will be seen.Few temples are also visible there. The Madan Mahal Fort is constructed over the hill at the height of around 500 meters. The hill is also known as Madan Mahal hill. The fort is not like the other legendary architectural works in India but still it”s worth enough to see the structure of the fort. It tells about the history of the Gond Dynasty that had ruled the Jabalpur and its surrounding areas like Mandla. Being situated at a good height the view of the city of Jabalpur is fabulous. The structure of the fort includes the war room, main chamber for pleasure, stable and small reservoir. On the route of the Madan Mahan Fort there is a geological wonder known as Balancing Rock. It is a huge rock with a very small base. The beauty of the rock is that it is balancing over another rock as its base and the circumference area of the same is very small. The rock has weathered many climatic hazards like rains, sand storm etc. I am attaching some photographs so that you all can have a better idea of what I am exactly trying to say.
