A well stocked library. Books available almost on all subject one can be interested in. But the stock is not updated very regularly. Most of the books are very old and are obtained from donations. Still its a wonderful place for any book lover.
Its a library where you can be a life member after giving fee of 1005 ₹ and identity card photo copy. You can issue two book at time for 15 days after that you have pay fine on per day basis. You can not sit and read book here which is very unfortunate and sad. Only civil service aspirant can sit here. Most of the book is very old not latest book or best sellers. You can read more than 10 news paper here.
It has got some good novels both in English and hindi languages but the condition of books is not that good, for now as more people are donating books it is gradually becoming a good library
It has an excellent collection of books. Awesome library👌👌
Popularly known as ‘Safed Kothi’ the Ahilya Library building dates back to 1908. The white neo-classical structure housed senior British Raj functionaries during the Raj and later served as the official residence of the Chief Minister of Central Province. The century-old building also hosted Vinoba Bhave during his month-long visit to the city in 1960. A year later, the building took on its current avatar serving as the site for the Ahilya Library stared through funds provided by Yeshwant Rao Holkar-II.

Library.!! Can you believe we pay to sit here ₹500/month(₹6000/year) in a PUBLIC library. with ₹1000 deposit and cant access a book!!If we want then have to pay another ₹1500(₹1000 deposit + ₹500 yearly) again!!And this fee hike within 2 years.. before this it was ₹5/year then ₹500/year and now ₹500/month..(+₹1000 security deposit)I have paid earlier ₹500/year then now ₹500/month (₹6000/year).. it means 1200% hike in fee.. without any reason and with no facilities.. no jhadu pocha from last 20days in the room at 1st floor where students can sit n study.. but regular jhadu pocha on ground floor where the staff sits..Its seems like colonial era.. we are paying 1200% more but still getting nothing.. but exploitation..If you want experience colonial time so come here and enjoy British rule.!!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------👆So fought with this colonial rule..aur lambey sangarsh k baad ab Fees hui ₹200 per month..Kya Mila babaji ka thullu..Aur Isse pehle jo bacche salo se ₹500/Month me yaha ideally bethe wo 200 me bhi khush..par Jo de hi nhi sakta wo abhi bhi samne garden me beth k hi padh rha..Are bhai jo 500/month de skta, unko 200/month dene kya pareshani..but jo de hi nhi skta.. uska kya..?? Wo to pehle bhi nhi aa pa rha tha abhi bhi nhi..to Library kholi kiske liye h.?main to awaz hi iss liye uthaya tha ki Garib baccha jo library k gate se hi Fees ka sun kar wapas chala jata tha wo bhi padh sake..but administration ₹200 bola bacche khush.. apna consensus de diye.. bloody selfish..Aur ye State khud to padha pa nhi rhi, aur jo baccha khud se padhna chah raha usme bhi Pvt library walo ki trh Fees wasul kar padhne nhi de rha..are aur library nhi de skta par jo hai kam se kam usme to loot mat machao..By the way All most sare bacche yha Civil Services wale ..sabhi Social, Political, Economical Rights padhte aur Kitabo me hi chd jate..ab aam janta ka to pata nahi kya hi hota hoga country me..😏

Superb place for book lovers
This is a good bump
I am already a life time member of this library from 2013 but then too they are charging fees of Rs500 per month and Rs 1000 deposit , timings of library is from 11 am to 5.30 pm only closed on Monday . Staff member are rude in behavior and when I have asked that why public library is taking such charges from existing members then they have become angry and told me that i am not having manners how to talk with elders .
Best place
Only davv students are eligible
Very less timings.

The Devi Ahilya Central Library currently has 70 thousand books, but after being associated with the Dellnet institution, this library has been directly connected to 4500 libraries in India and 500 libraries in other countries of the world. This will benefit the students here a lot. It is a matter of great pride for us. Most of the books in science and technology are in Delnet. We have been directly connected to libraries of countries like United States, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Philippines etc. sitting in Indore. With this state-of-the-art facility, the tradition of studies will be maintained.
