We were there today with 3 kids age 15, 4 and 2. They all enjoyed the Van Gogh Experience. We walked the grounds and visited the Lilly house. Wish we could have stayed longer.I must compliment the employees. Some of the friendliest people.

Absolutely spectacular. Very clean, modern art museum. Love the pieces they curated here. The grounds and gardens are pristine.

We had a lovely experience at Newfields! Our first stop was the Lume Van Gogh exhibit. It was very well done. People of all ages seemed to enjoy the exhibit. I loved seeing the little kids running around and interacting as the screens changed. We worked our way down the 4 levels. I liked the glass and Asian art. Got some great gifts in the gift shop. The surprise for me was how much there was going on outside. Dont miss all the orchids in the greenhouse and grab a beer or tea. The trails were fun to explore . . . But we ran out of time. We will definitely be coming back to do the house and other trails. Ive heard the Christmas lights are great!

Attended the opening exhibit of The Lume and it was phenomenal! A must for anyone! Beautifully done. I had never really explored the grounds before, but there is much to see. Seemed to be a popular place to run.

Great place to spend an afternoon! Personally, I enjoy the 100 acre woods and Gardens more than the actual Art Museum, but thats just my opinion. The vast array of plants and flowers make the trip exciting and beautiful. Anytime youre near the lake, be sure to look for turtles. We counted 11 on our last trip. Its such a simple pleasure in life to be able to just enjoy nature and all it has to offer.

Took my grandson to the Van Gogh experience for his birthday. It was very, very nice. Better than I expected. If you stop by the Grab & Gogh or the gift shop please know that it is card only. Oh and the design gallery on the third floor was very inspiring. Great taste is timeless.

I dont normally hang out in art museums, but the immersive Van Gogh experience sounded nice todo. We made a date night out of it and we were not disappointed.I found the different medium of moving pictures on the walls & floor an enjoyable way to appreciate some of the finer things in life & easily recommend to you!

Big crowds, zero masks. Stop overselling tickets!

It was $18 to get in to the art museum, we had a great day. Lovely gift shop. Delighted to see one of my favorite artists work, William Adolphe Bouguereau. They feature art throughout the generations displaying a wonderful variety. We finished the day off with some tasty orange soda in the food area.

This is a fabulous museum! I had a great time and thought it was a good collection. The two Edward Hoppers were my favorites, but there were some good modern and impressionist works as well.The only downsides were:1. There were an oppressive number of docents. The masks make them seem rather in friendly.2. Tickets have to be bought online even though there are three employees stationed at the door. It felt weird.

I came here as a child and absolutely adored the gardens and all of the art. As an adult I got to bring my daughter for the first time and our experience was nothing shy of amazing! They were featuring the Van Gogh exhibit up at The Lume and this was the primary reason we went on this occasion. She absolutely loved it and already wants to go back to see more of the amazing art on all four floors!

Super cool Vincent Van Gogh exhibit with laser projectors and an interactive gallery. Lots of facts about him in different corners of the gallery. I think there were 2 actual paintings by him in the far gallery. Would have obviously been fun to see more originals, but it was still a very cool experience

Definitely recommend going. The art and the outside garden grounds are beautiful. Beer garden is nice as well.

Wow. I was just so impressed even driving up to Newfields. The gardens and flowers on the grounds are so beautiful and colorful. It set the tone to see the Van Gogh exhibit, which was also a jaw dropper. One hour of walking through Van Gogh paintings and then you get to sit in his room. Amazing. There was so much to explore we will definitely be back

What a wonderful way to enjoy a day of art. Van Gogh Lume is a fantastic exhibit. Nice cool day to relax and have lunch by the fountain.

My family really enjoyed our visit. It is still in the back of our minds the former IMA/ Newfield presidents words, however with us being members we went back out. This is our 1st time after that event. And really enjoyed ourselves 4 stars for now, may go backup to 5. Just as wonderful as remembered though. Great for families.👍 Thank you.

Once I had my baby and he was able to go places, Newfields was and has been the only place we consistently feel safe to explore. Its beautiful and theres room to distance.

Absolutely loved the LUME. It was a fantastic experience. I was thrilled to see them support one of our favorite local businesses, Gallery Pastry Bar, in the exhibit bar. (Newfields needs a full time bar!)

When I was planning a trip to Indianapolis a lot of friends told me Newfields was a must-see. I get why now! Bring your walking shoes for this one--theres more than youre going to be able to see in a day. Admission was only $18. A wide range of cultures and time periods are represented. There was a great selection of impressionist and pointillist works, which are a personal favorite (sadly I didnt realize that taking pictures was ok as long as the flash was off until we were mostly past that section). Placards do an excellent job of putting each work into its historical context. Im sad that my trip didnt overlap with the coming Van Gogh exhibit, but I was still very pleased with the experience!

Had a good time at Newfields last week during the free first Thursday. The birds of prey show on the lawn of the Lily House was entertaining, and the inside exhibits were nice, but a lot was closed for renovation (the Clowes Pavillion, the textiles area etc).

Interesting museum of European, American, Asian and African art, and examples of design. Beautiful gardens with an impressive mansion.

Visited the Lume exhibit. It was beautiful and informative. I highly recommend wandering ALL the rooms while Van Gough art is playing. It is best experienced this way rather than standing or sitting in one room.

Such a neat experience. It was a little over crowded, but still very interesting.

Very beautiful museum, gardens and the mansion! Lilly’s house was beautifully decorated. The green house and the beer garden had many interesting plants and flowers that I have never seen before. The fountain, the little bridges and surrounding walking paths and gardens were all beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommended for people looking for a leafy and relaxing place!

The garden area is wonderful. Lots of flowers and beautiful views. Although, I wish the fourth floor was open. This museum was pretty, but doesn’t take very long to walk the inside. Hopefully more art will be available as the fourth floor opens!

Had no idea how much time we would spend there. So much to see. Great art, wonderful gardens, helpful friendly staff, really had a great time.

The museum has a little bit for everyone. We got tickets for The Lume, which included the main museum attractions, as well as the gardens. The Lume was soul awakening & an experience that I wont soon forget.Highly recommended making time for getting lost in the garden pathways and touring the Lily House. Its fall, so pumpkins were EVERYWHERE! Kudos to whoever maintains the flowers. Loved the whole experience! ❤

Amazing Van Gogh projection exhibit

What a wonderful Halloween light tour!!! It was beautiful, spooky, clever, and fed all the senses. We enjoyed a cocktail and snacks along the way. The staff were great! The patrons social distanced appropriately. I only wish it could have been a bit of a bigger display for the price.

Just experienced the Lume exhibit at Newfields and absolutely loved it. Newfields is an amazing place and we are lucky to have it here in Indianapolis. I definitely would recommend the Lume exhibit and I look forward to my next adventure at Newfields.

Newfields is fantastic. Ive been there to see a ballet at the Toby, and more recently for Harvest Nights. Its a well maintained facility, free and easily accessed parking, and fair pricing for a major art gallery. I dont feel like pricing for entry and food is too surprising, and its comparable to other galleries Ive visited. In fact, I felt their membership pricing was better (more affordable) than others. The staff are very helpful and easy to find. Some really wonderful artists come through this museum, so keep your eyes peeled!

Never been into art and probably never will. Is it pretty, yes it is. Do I really care what the artist was thinking when they created it no, no I really dont.Take Robert Indianas Love Sculpture. Does it make me feel love. No. I look at it and see 4 letters stacked on top of each other. Oh that spells love.... its in the eye of the beholder, and thats fine. I have no eye for it. Some people do. Expos yourself to it make up your own mind, but be honest to yourself also.All that said Newfields does an OK job. Most of the art does not provide a context or much info on the artist which is a loss. Why is this artist important but my brothers finger painting is not. Can do a better job and who knows maybe convert some folks.

The lights and music here is outstanding! Me and my wife really enjoyed the light show and music. I could tell a lot of hard work was put into setting up the lights here. Just amazing. if you are in the area, you must take your family or someone special here. this is an out standing place for a date night for individuals or the family. You will not be disappointed.they must have took cranes or some type of power equipment to get the lights setup in the tall trees. Outstanding work!I will visit again.

The Lume is a wonderful sensory immersion.

We visited the Lume and it was unbelievably awesome, words cannot describe how impressive it was. We ate lunch there, food was good and service was great. Also walked around the gardens outside and even stopped by the beer garden. We will be back, truly great experience.

I enjoyed the exhibit on Chicago Imiagists. It included many artists I didnt know, which is always fun. I was happy to see the Museum full on a free day. Newfields has work to do to rebuild trust in the community. More outreach, more free days will help.

Always a great time at Newfields! The museum will keep you entertained for the better part of a day if you see all of the exhibits. The self guided tour of the mansion is a lot of fun, too.

Great night out at the Winter lights at Newfields. We went early and was able to enjoy the beautiful lights on a wonderful and warm evening.The lights are spectacular and with reduced numbers and social distancing we were able to enjoy them without the feeling of being part of a crowd.

Went last year for the winterlights. Absolutely beautiful.

What an amazing art museum and situated on beautiful grounds.

You MUST reserve your time online ahead of time. Once you pay, you get a pdf ticket per person that they scan when you enter the museum. Please wear a mask at all times.Well curated exhibits, especially the African art section. Not a ton of items in comparison to some other art museums in other cities but the pieces they do have are great representations of the art history and style of each timeframe on display.

Bloom was a very enjoyable afternoon. It was a mini vacation in the middle of our week!

I recent attended the Harvest Nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was without question the most illuminated pumpkins I have ever seen in my life at one time and the attention to detail was impressive with each of the pumpkins having a unique face. The Lilly House show with the projections and music was equally fun to watch, although slightly crowded. Overall, I felt pretty safe with the covid precautions in place (masks required even though outdoors), but there were a few spots where the flow could have been improved slightly to minimize congestion. While it is a bit costly per ticket, I will say it was well worth it and it must have took considerable time and effort to make this experience what it was.

We were here to see Lume, which was awesome,, but we also saw the entire museum. very nice place. we interacted with many employees and everyone was friendly and helpful. the gardens on the grounds were beautiful.

We went and saw Winter Lights for the first time. The lights were beautiful and the experience was great! They do a fantastic job with the lights display. It just seems overpriced for our kids that dont slow down. Then, buy drinks to enjoy through it. We skipped the merchandise. It seemed really short for the price. And then with people crowding the space and making you feel like you should rush because you did slow down.

Went during Harvest days. Beautiful decorations and arrangements. They made special effort to follow CDC guidelines for COVID. Worth the price of ticket.

Really enjoyed Winterlights despite the weather. Smooth logistics and always friendly staff. :-)

The museum is large with many galleries. Some important pieces and many curious exhibits. The central plaza is dominated by a grand piano available for anyone to sit down and play, and often some one does, seldom with any skill.

The Lume was fun and nicely priced. We spent 3 hrs there and didnt even see half the museum or the garden. Would love to come back on our next trip.

Welcome back!!! The 54th annual Penrod Arts Fest had a huge Anglo presence. I saw maybe 3 black owned artist booths with an above average black musical presence.

I love coming to the nature park and walking around in all seasons really. My favorite time of year is a tie between spring and fall.

We went to the Lume exhibit. It was nice but the resolution is not 4k and looked blurry. We were (rudely) kicked out a full 4 hours before their posted closing time (online and on sign outside of the entrance). We were disappointed because we had planned to spend the day there exploring the museum and gardens. It could have been a nice day...

So many choices. The gardens were enormous. Well planted and wonderful paths. The Lume was fantastic. I need to plan several trips to take it all in. Thankfully there were restaurants inside for relief. I enjoyed the Asian culture and historical furniture displays as well. Theres something for everyone. I plan to return soon.

Indy Newfields MuseumDirector of Guest servicesChris MoorheadDear Mr Moorhead,Today myself and two of my friends drove from Cincinnati to Indianapolis to see your Van Gogh Immersive Lume experience.The show was wonderful but I came very close to falling backwards off the escalator at the top of the rise! I am 71 years old and use a rollerator ambulatory walker. We were instructed to take the elevator to Floor 2 and the escalator to the top floor. That elevator did not go further than Floor 2.There were no signs visable anywhere that showed me how to use handicap facilities. I walked all around floor 2 but saw no elevator nor signs for an elevator. The rest of my party were up the escalator so I attempted to follow them. At the very top of it the wheels on my walker caught on the escalator moving stairs and I was pushed backwards. Thank goodness I was able to pitch forward and keep myself from falling backwards down the escalator! But the accident wrenched my back and seriously impacted my ability to enjoy the rest of the day.Your facility, especially the ticket entrance area is not in compliance with ADA ( Americans with Disability Act) standards. Please, please take steps to post signs showing handicapped individuals how to navigate your facility safely!I found out later that you have elevators that would have taken me safely up to Floor 4 but you have not bothered to post signs showing handicapped individuals how to find those elevators.I am very disappointed in your lack of attention to handicap visitors. I would appreciate a response from you as to the steps you are going to take to bring your museum in compliance with ADA standards.Sincerely,Betty Cooper

Lovely museum. Definitely a must see if you are in Indianapolis. It started raining so we missed the gardens but from what we could see they looked beautiful. Staff was friendly. Everything is presented well. I wish there was more Greek just because thats my favorite but otherwise it was great. The shop was a real treat. Cant believe how much they have in there. They are handling Covid well too. Little better direction on where to go since escalators were down would be nice. We figured it out though.

I really love to see the Halloween & Christmas lights. Im really excited for the Van Gogh experience next year also. Everything is very clean always. I do wish they wouldve put more lights out, on every tree this year! Especially since we are in a pandemic & you have to return if you want to go inside the Lily house. I also think the price of $25 per adult to see the lights is expensive for what it is. Yet, I also think it is all beautiful and worth going if you can get a discounted ticket to the lights.

Museums should not cost this much. However, it was worth it. Spent 5 hours exploring it all, and the grounds are lovely too. Was thrilled to see Paschke paintings in the Chicago exhibit. Skip the Cafe though: it was just ok. Or get a glass of wine and enjoy the large windows.

The museum is a true gem in Indianapolis and we will be back. We went to see the Van Gogh exhibit, which by itself was outstanding, but the crowds were noisy. There was no attempt by the museum to indicate to patrons how to behave. The other visitors were allowed to carry on as if they were standing in-line at a Disney exhibit, and then kept talking throughout the exhibit, even drowning out the music. It was difficult to get the true atmosphere of the exhibit. The cafe in the exhibit was wonderful, and we enjoyed wine and cheese after the exhibitFor first-time visitors, entering the museum is very uncomfortable. We were not sure where to go or what to do, even though we purchased tickets ahead of time. We found the cloud only added to the confusion. A paper map would have been preferred to a digital map.Further, there was a posted policy of masking which was not followed by the majority of patrons and a few employees. Why have a policy if it is not enforced?

Went during the time when things were pretty locked down, not many people were there so it was pretty crazy sometimes being in such a huge building completely alone. The contemporary glass area is amazing would highly recommend everyone go see this. The love song Norman Rockwell painting was my favorite there the photos do not do it justice.

So much to see and do here! Great museum, gift shop and very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely be back to see the gardens and additional exhibits that we missed the first time around.

The winter lights was beautiful. The only reason that it didnt get 5 stars from me is the price. The entry fee is a little steep for the amount of time that I got out of it. We strolled through fairly slowly and even stopped a few times to take in the lights. The entire time took us around :35-:45. Additionally, the amount of money they charged for addition items is rediculous. They are charging $9.99 for a light bulb necklace that you can buy at Dollar Tree for $1.

We enjoyed the Lume exhibit immensely and the gardens were beautifully decorated for fall. The cafe food was delicious but slightly expensive for lunch for kids.

I attended the Van Gogh exhibit on Saturday, 8/21. The exhibit was beautiful and well done. However, they let way too many people in - it was very crowded. The children were running around like it was a playground, were yelling and were not masked. Also, there were only a few benches available.

The parking garage is simple to navigate n puts u right to the entrance of the museum. Well lit, clean. No cost to park n ur out of the weather

The gardens here are beautiful you have to go see it

For Indiana it has a decent collage of local, modern, and classic art. On the smaller side but makes up for it. If youve not been to many this is a good art museum to begin with.
