JAMIA SIRAJ UL ULOOM is an educational institute imparting Quranic as well as scientific knowledge.In 1992, The Hazrat Peer Gul Sahib Shopiani founded the trust by the name of Siraj-ul- uloom educational society vide registration no. 3706-s-2001 in collaboration with some Islamic tinkers and scholars. It is under this Society that Siraj-ul-uloom was established in 1994 at the village of Nagisharan which is about 10km away from District headquarters Shopian and about 8km from the present campus. The institute remained at Nagisharan up to 1995.It was then shifted to Nowpora Baskuchhan Shopian which is 3 kms away from the present site. Unfortunately the institute functioned at Nowpora for a short period of time.On 25th June 1998, the foundation was laid at Imamsahib.From March 2000, the institute re-started its function with Hifz class. From October 2002,the institute started its academic classes by providing admissions in the 6th class. Upto March 2012,the class work remained only upto 10th standard. By March 2012, the Alimiyat class has been started.The Jamia will insha-Allah function as an autonomous and full-fledged university in near future.
