Just visited Matsu and had a Margarita and loved it. Very pleasant place to eat and did not have a reservation but was placed at a two-person table and lovely hostess took my order and within 10 mins pizza arrived piping hot. Just two slices and I was full and had a wonderful chat with other patterns sitting next to me. Good family restaurant with excellent dining area. The owner was table hopping to regular clientele in the restaurant. Good price for Italian authentic resturant.

The food here are delicious!!!! The design of the restaurant is very Japanese. Overall have good service! Its a good place for a date, work, or family!

Solid, go too sushi bar. Food is always support fresh and good and the service is even better. Some weekend nights the sushi bar wait can be up to an hour but great bar to hangout in there helps kill the time. They also have dining room seating or teppanyaki which both take reservations if you want to guarantee at dinner time.

Just picked up order to go. One of my favorite spots for 40 years. Brown paper bag..never used in past history. 3 orders of soup and two salads and shrimp cocktails! Soup leaked through the bag, and the rest of the items history. Not the Customer Service or Quality I am familiar with. Very disappointing!

The Matsu Combination Boat is always incredible with the exceptional dining room presentation in a wooden boat, but having it as takeout was over the top. You know the dinner was great when you want to have the leftovers for breakfast. If you have any doubts here is the takeout order photo. This was the Matsu Combination Boat for two, but we could have fed a family of five with this. Make sure you see the cucumber salads, miso soups, and rice included with the teriyaki dip.

The food is fresh and delicious. The service is always perfect. I said tonight after finishing dinner this is the best restaurant in Huntington Beach. I have plenty of others that are good but this is my favorite.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Huntington Beach. They have many delicious foods at an affordable price. When its your birthday, they give you a free ice cream with a special song! Also, they take a picture and give it with a paper frame. Such a nice gift. The inside is low lights, it was tight before the pandemic, I dont know how they modified it because I only take out food after that. But they still have good tastes. I like salmon, beef, chicken, and shushi. The bento is really a good deal. I still cant believe that I didnt review this place until now:) I strongly recommend!

OMG this is a must must must come to place!! The sushi here is out of this world, the decor inside is that old-fashioned old school Japanese real wood type of ambiance which is so pleasing to the eye and so great to come every time. They have a very good sashimi salad. The sushi is very good but not to die for. Prices are reasonable.

First started enjoying Matsu in the early 90s. They have not disappointed to date. Consistent high quality fish. Excellent service. Crunchy roll is a great way to introduce someone to the sushi experience. Full service bar as well.

A childhood favorite and place we always go for celebrations. They even send you home with a picture. I have 30 years worth of photos 😁But, been going there much longer.Favorites are the teppan tables and the sushi is outstanding!

Matsus sushi selection is amazing. The people at the sushi bar are super nice...the chefs AND the guests. Most of us have been eating there for 10, 15, 20, 30 years...They have uni, live shrimp, ikara, black porgy, etc. There are usually TWO chalk boards full of special fish in addition to the basics Everything is good. They also have a tepan cook at the table section, a restaurant, and a full bar. Im so happy the restaurants are opening again after Covid...They do great takeout too but being there is definitely better.Yes, they have great rolls too. They have an amazing baked scallop, etc etc...

It was a great visit, they have outdoor seating for now I guess I. A week they open dining room at 25%. Dont forget about our great Yugi he needs our business more than ever. To many businesses are shutting down, help support your local businesses. If you dont you wont get the best sushi in town.

Matsu was good. They offer limited indoor dining and outdoor dining as well. Great Mai Tais, friendly staff. Awesome food. Since its a little chilly I got the Udon Noodles. Excellent.

Food is excellent, service is great, and prices very reasonable. Weve enjoyed this restaurant for some 40 years now, same location. Weve seen many good restaurants come and go. Some of them relocated and others just vanished but Matsu is still here and @ the same location. That ought to tell you something.

Absolutely LOVE this place .. Sushi is always fresh and amazing .. Service is on point... Drinks actually have perfect amount of alcohol and are really good and bithdays are celebrated with desert and a picture to keep for your memories!

I have been dining and enjoying Matsu for 30 years!! Great for birthdays, anniversaries or a date night! Great sushi. Yummy Sesame chicken. Delicious Beef Teriyaki and Shrimp Tempura. They also have great drinks! The Japanese Kimono is my favorite!!

My Fiance and I go here often. Hes been coming here for over 30 years. We always have a great time and an excellent meal. We love the Teppan tables. The staff is professional, attentive and very nice and welcoming. The Scorpion bowl drink is quite spectacular and fun to share. The food is excellent and plentiful at a reasonable price. We love this restaurant. A must do for a fun time in Huntington Beach.

Best crunchy rolls and spicy albacore...although I would love if they would add spicy garlic Edamame to their menu in replace of plain Edamame. I would visit a couple times a week for that combination. Very clean with great service.

Matsus service never disappoints. Theyre always fast, efficient and friendly. We are genuinely impressed how the service is. Once you arrive and order, your appetizers, salad or soups are on the table within minutes. We have experienced this time and time again.The menu items are great. The food is super flavorful and delicious. The portion compared to price is another reason we love coming. Theres always leftovers. I love sitting at the Tappan tables. I must compliment the presentation of the entrees. If you order a boat, wow the assemble is always picture worthy. The restaurant is lively and well maintained. Regardless how busy the restaurant is, they do a great job with turning over tables, cleaning the restaurant and bathrooms. The only struggle is finding parking. The restaurant is located in a smaller shopping center so prepare yourself to stalk people who are walking to their cars. Otherwise, I would rate the restaurant a well deserved 5 stars.

The entrance to the restaurant is dark and small with a small bar and teppan area which was full when we arrived with no reservation in January 2020. They offered us a table in the dining room which is nicely decorated in traditional Japanese style. The female servers wear kimonos and suits for the men. As mentioned by other reviewers, the service was very quick and efficient and prices are reasonable. It is a place you want to like but the food is a letdown. The Salmon Teriyaki was disappointing and served with a mushy corn cob and giant pieces of plain broccoli and carrots. The sushi rolls and tempura were nothing special. The food was not interesting or delicious so we dont plan to return. Maybe their raw seafood is better but we dont eat that. They do have a high review rating of 4.7 but I noticed that about 35 of the 4 & 5 star reviews posted in the last 3 months have no pics and over half have no comments so I have to wonder about the validity of those reviews.

I don’t get the hype on this place... it’s dark and dingy. The sushi we ordered had a smell to it that didn’t seem fresh. There are plenty of better sushi options; this place relies too much on its decor to impress.

Yugi, their incredibly talented chef is the most genuine person youll meet and, along with everyone else on the team there, will conversate intriguingly. Excellent bar area to wait in for the Sushi bar or Tepan table to open up. Excellent Sushi. Remarkably affordable, Im actually shocked at how reasonable they are for high end dining. They are open for take out, lets all support them.
