Great place to visit... Holly place with holly deeds... Everyday the workers there are feeding 5000+ people... Also the place is well maintained and pollution free. There are small temples inside along with the main one. Attraction for photographers, peace seekers, dayouts with family and loved ones...One can willingly opt for Sewa for a day or half and donations in person or through online means. Also, one can become a member of regular donations. Receipts are provided for the same along with the projects they are working on, also, how they are helping the community with there contributions.Affordable ways to visit there are - 1. By local train - Belur Math is a station in Howrah local line with good frequencies of trains.2. By Ferry, within every 10 to 15 minutes they have scheduled ferries for the same.Small food stalls are available just outside the place for minimal refreshments. Overall a good experience to visit this place.
A very calm place. The place generally is not crowded and provides a serene feeling. There is a book store dedicated to the writings and life of swami vivekanand.Thibgs to note:1. You are not allowed to take photographs inside the premise2. And the ferry ride from Belurmath to Dakshineswar is on hold and you will have to rely on a byroad transport for the same3. You need to have your COVID certificate for both doses in order to get an entry
Excellent place of pilgrimage. Had never got a chance earlier to visit this place though but once you enter the world of Monks, you would start looking at the world in a different angle. The ambience and serenity would give you hopes and good wishes to make yourself the best version. The Ganges and the ghats are really beautiful and indeed very nice to watch.
They are very strict with their timings. So when you plan to visit do check their website and then go.. there may be different timings given in some other sites but dont follow that. I visited recently but due to mismatch in the timing I had to return back. Not even 1 min late is allowed. So punctuality matters. If you want to enjoy the serenity and peace then abide by their rules.Happy visit..
Belur Math is a must visit place for a person who believes in Swami Vivekanandas ideology.Construction of Belur Math was started in 1936 to make Swami Vivekanandas dream a reality. It was inaugurated on 14 January 1938.There is a huge worship room inside the temple. There is a white marble statue of Sri Ramakrishna on the altar.Over time, the Ramakrishna Math and the headquarters of the mission were established here. This institution has occupied an important place in the life of Bengali society as a sacred center for spreading Swami Vivekanandas social thought and spiritual practice. A museum has also been set up here to display the history of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Many tourists from abroad come here to see the beauty of this temple in memory of Ramakrishna.
Very good place. If you are not vaccinate you cant entered here. If you come here to visit, then you will come to know some interesting facts related to the life of Swami Vivekananda.
Very Good place well sanitized and maintained. Restored my Peace of mind.
In kolkata there are very less places where u will feel mental peace and pray to God as u want, and this is one of the best place to do so.super clean and calm place. One of the best place to follow strict covid guideline. And everything is so systematic you wont feel congested Or breathless like other temple in kolkata. No interfere of any pandit Or pujari which is another best reason to visit here.
In summers, visit during early morning hours or late evening otherwise it gets too hot and humid in the sun. In winters, the weather is very pleasant.Apart from the main temple building, also visit the old shrine, old monastery, and Swami Vivekananda’s room.Try to visit Dakshineswar from there via ferry.
Beluṛ Maṭhis the headquarters of the Ramkrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramkrishna. It is located on the west bank of Hooghly river and is one of the significant institutions in Kolkata. Here you and find Swamiji Tomb and Sarada Ma tomb here.Beside Ganga river it is the finest place I have ever seen with pleasant natural atmosphere which is so much beautiful.
Excellent।। Two doze of Covid vaccination Is required at entry point
Dont go during lockdown. Most of the belur math is locked.Otherwise its a good and peaceful place.
Belur Math is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. It is located on the west bank of Hooghly River, Belur, West Bengal, India and is one of the significant institutions in Kolkata. The temple is the heart of the Ramakrishna movement. It is notable for its architecture that fuses Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist, and Christian art and motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. In 2003, Belur Math railway station was also inaugurated which is dedicated to Belur Math Temple.
Belur Math is actually marvelous architect. But in the reference of COVID-19 lot of restrictions imposed on visitors. Now then cant sit inside and outside temple. Photography strictly prohibited outside the temple, which is not understood. Totally we can say go there, take one round and moved out, if you interested.
A place where one can find calmness. River bank is picturesque. Only walking in this place can give peace to your soul. That pleasant breeze of Ganges is soothing. Great place for those who follow Swami Vivekanandas thoughts. Ramkrishna temple is beautiful.
Its a place where you can find internal peace...Lovely place for meditation
Points reduce for their strict timing. If you are late even by 30 sec they wont entertain you. I got entrance in 3rd attempt. Plus connectivity from city is not good. There is no metro route. Can take bus and cab. Cab is high cost and will always tell the wrong timings.Talking about the place there are multiple math or temple to visit. Outside each temple no naming convention. You should know in advance about the Guru. Good time to visit either early morning or evening. In corona situation their timings are 8.30-11 am and 3.30 to 5.15 pm. After main gate entrance have to walk about 200m. Overall its a beautiful place to visit of you plan well ahead. Nearby is Dakishneswar Kali temple for which you can get magic auto from Math(15rs per head) and it will be closed by 1pm and again reopen at 3.30 pm.
The most important thing that the timings of this historical place entrance. nowadays in such a pandemic situation to maintain distance with wear a mask and sanitize hands....all we have managed properly but the main things is the timings of entrance and exit. whatever may follow my photos to know the timings. thank you.. visitors must check.
Very clean and well maintained place. Worth a visit. The only thing that I didnt like was, we cannot click pictures. Its such a beautiful place and not being able to capture it on camera is sad.
Swami vivekananda threw himself and his disciples to serve the people suffering on plague. They didnt think about their own lives. But nowadays they closed the doors and save themselves from covid. This is the difference.
Jai ho, u have to show double vaccine certificate for entry....A major portion of temple is still kept closed due to COVIDPls must visit this
Best place if u want to peace Swami Vivekananda and also heritage place every one Love that place .....
Beautifully maintained peaceful place. The headquarters of the Ramakrishna mission. Photography prohibited. The museum is closed. Some of the sculptures are fabulous. The gardens open from 0530-6 in the early morning and that seems to be the best time to go nowadays. The sun is up and its cool. The entry to the garden is Rs 20 per head.Toilets inside are well maintained. Lots of trash cans around to help people keep the gardens clean. The museum opens at 11 am.

But due to the current covid pandemic situation they behaved very rude & also prohibited to sit within the math premises. So apart from that bad, overall I liked very much. Place of great peace and spirituality.
PeaceBelur Math or Belur Muth is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, a chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. It is located on the west bank of Hooghly River, Belur, West Bengal. It is a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world professing different religious faiths. Even people not interested in religion come here for the peace it exudes. The serene campus of belur math on the Ganga includes temples dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, in which their relics are enshrined, and the main monastery of the Ramakrishna order. The place has been sanctified by the stay of Swami Vivekananda and most of the monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna who spent several years here. Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi also visited this place on several occasions. The room in which Swamiji attained Mahasamadhi has been preserved here. The headquarters of the worldwide twin organizations known as Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission are also situated here.Belur math is a place of pilgrimage for people of different religious faiths. This place of religious importance is visited by people from all over India and abroad. The main gate of belur math leads to the Ramkrishna Sarada Mandir. Swami breathed his last breath on 4th July, 1902 at this place. His memorial lies within the Math. His commodities are carefully kept in his room and is displayed to the people. belur math has also provided other things such as an art college, an industrial school and charitable dispensary. belur math is free from bigotry and sectarian rational and is modern in outlook. The Math and the Mission are committed to the task of ushering in a new age in which distinctions of caste, creed and class do not exist.
Clam and peaceful palce.
Very good place for spending time in the afternoon. You can enjoy the beauty of Ganga from the ghat.
Its a refreshing and clam pleace. I love ❣️ it.
The history of Belur Math is rather intriguing. The vision behind the establishment of Belur Math by Swami Vivekananda and his brother was to carry forward the teachings of their Guru, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. The temple was erected in 1935 on the banks of the sacred Ganges, reflecting the ideas of “Universal Faith” and selfless service to humanity. The history buffs would be enriched to know that the founding idea of the temple lingered on Swami Vivekananda’s mind while he was traveling far and wide as a wandering monk to serve the destitute, poor, and sick. The beautiful monastery was the outcome of his gathered inspiration from the oodles of architectural monuments and ancient temples that he witnessed on his social service in India. The design of the temple was based on unleashing the symbolism of “Religious Diversity”, the blueprint of which was laid down by his fellow disciple and brother, Swami Vijnanananda. This monastery is one of the two monasteries founded by Swami which were built to receive and train young men to become sannyasis or religious ascetic of Ramakrishna Mission.
Always love to be there. A peaceful holy place to be with anyone you want. The ambience is great. You could treat yourself with the history of this place and most importantly dont miss the evening prayer..!❤️
In January 1897, Swami Vivekananda arrived in Baranagar, Calcutta with his small group of Western disciples. Two monasteries were founded by him, one at Belur, which became the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission and the other at Mayavati on the Himalayas, in Champawat District, Uttrakhand, called the Advaita Ashrama.[4][5] These monasteries were meant to receive and train young men who would eventually become sannyasis (religious ascetic) of the Ramakrishna Mission, and to give them a training for their work. The same year the philanthropic activity was started and relief of the famine was carried out.[5]Swami Vivekanandas days as a parivrajaka (wandering monk) before his visit to Parliament of Religions, took him through many parts of India and he visited several architectural monuments like the Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri palaces, Diwan–I–Khas, palaces of Rajasthan, ancient temples of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other places. During his tour in America and Europe, he came across buildings of architectural importance of Modern, Medieval, Gothic and Renaissance styles. It is reported that Vivekananda incorporated these ideas in the design of the Belur Math temple.
Serene and tranquil. Thats my hideout to calm myself on really hard days.
Belur math is a place where you can ho to relax your mind and soul. The place all together have a different vibe. The temple amd the ganga view is so surreal. One must include this place to see in their visit to kolkata.
