This is a government school just adjacent to Deshabandhu Vidyapeeth. It is named as refugee because during the war of 1971 to liberate Bangladesh from Pakistan many household took shelter in Hojai and some other parts of Assam to save their lives. But education was the basic things for survival after food and shelter so, the then PM Indira Gandhis advice many refugee schools were opened to educate those refugee children and the name still remained the same. There are so many refugee school in Hojai in Bengali name Baastu Hara school that is Refugee school.
