Great South indian restaurant. Fresh food and the food is always served hot.

I quite like it here. As boys group, as family, as veg, as non veg, as mini party. Love the jaggery appam the most. Food is tasty, you can bring your own alcohol (£10 surcharge per bottle). Nice service too.This is not a romantic dinner place. More like, bring your friends and have a nice/spicy food and fun time place. Weekends surely be noisy of all those friends / families laughter.Worth checking it out.

Best SL food in London, at a fraction of the prices of the hipster places in central like Hoppers. Place should come with a warning though - no matter how mild you tell them you want it, it’s going to be seriously spicy. Are the chefs just pranking the wimps?

I ordered something but they misunderstood and gave my the wrong food. I was really disappointed with the customer service. The food needs to improve it tasted way better before.

Ordered from the Harrow branch, the spice range of hot and extra hot was inedible. The veg options were very bland and hot. It was straight up chili powder. Disappointed on the customer service overall.

2nd time I have tried getting food from take away to fail miserably and leave feeling like a naughty schoolboy without any. Yes, they do a vegetable thali apparently (nothing is clearly marked as to what it is which is far from helpful) but I was told that no, I had to have rice and not allowed noodles. So ok fair enough, rice, some paneer please. Nope cannot have paneer. Ascertained if that was what I wanted could have for £3 each in tiny portion size pot that a snail would have difficulty turning round in and that is before thinking of anything in way of breads or anything more than a few mouthfuls. Considering the overabundance of similar places I am amazed Gana is in business although were not exactly busy.Even with rice you could go to Posto and get a freshly cooked Thali with enough food to last over 2 days for under £10 or Natraj who constantly refresh serving containers and charge half that price, Food Corner who make you feel very welcome and give a more than generous amount for around a fiver and for slightly more Club 2000, Bamboo House and Saravanaa Bhavan which are all exceptional for both eat in and take away. The different regions, ethniticity and variation of styles available here are exceptional but Gana really need to work on their customer services, transparency of pricing and simply treating the customer in a non-contemptuous manner. Obviously cannot comment on the actual food as have failed to try it and wont be attempting to do so again.

Best place to have authentic Tamil food. Highly recommended, food is always fresh and delicious.

Very tasty South Indian food, good portion with friendly service. Great selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Clean and tidy with a reasonable price overall. I will definitely recommend to my friends and family.

I am Tamil, and I visited Gana after a friend of mine suggested it to me a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations at all. I wont complain about the quantity, but sometimes its not all about getting loads, but more about flavour.- Kothu: Basic, nothing special. I have tried better kothu from Coventry and Luton for cheaper prices. We tried chicken and mutton. Both had very minimal flavour. (Again, the quantity was great)- The rice and curry: The gravy for fish and chicken tasted exactly the same, just the pieces were added onto it separately, I guess. I guess this is fine with meat, but fish really needs a separate gravy. both were unnessararily spicy. We could tolerate it but you cannot taste any other flavour because it is loaded with chilli powder.- Sarbath: This was so poor, I felt scared to drink it. It tasted like a mix of paracetamol cough syrup, perfume and necto mixed together. I really dont suggest it. And to be very honest, it was a Falooda. Not sarbath. So technically we got the wrong order.- Vada: I dont expect it to be fresh, but i am not stupid, i know most places cannot make it fresh like India or Sri Lanka. Therefore when we ordered, we knew it would be frozen from the shop, or made in house but then frozen. So our expectations were not high, but it didnt live up to the lowest expectations either. It was so plain and tasteless.- The cleanliness: Honestly very poor. The plates had a tint of yellow from not being washed properly. Soo many scratches and dirt accumulating into it. The glasses had marks from the previous customers foodprint from their hands. The water we received had random bits of stuff (maybe dust- i dunno), at the bottom. and there were about two flies constantly in the dining area.- The chefs have a hair cap and gloves but i did notice that they do not have masks on. I can understand that it might be difficult to communicate with them on. And probably it gets hot as well. I think its quite important for you to do your best in keeping the guests as safe as possible. And i think the management needs to find a way around that. Maybe have air conditioning or something to helps chefs stay cool whilst working with a mask on.All of us do have quite high immunity, so i guess these things probably wouldnt affect us, but i cant really imagine someone with lower immunity.- The waitress was not too bad, but she didnt give out a very welcoming aura. She asked if we need anything after the food was given and all that. But i cant seem to explain. She is not very smiley or looks happy to be there. And i think a waitresses/ waiters attitude is almost half of the experience at a restaurant.If you made it this far, thank you for reading what i wrote. All in all, i wont go there again.

This place is a disgrace to Sri Lankan cuisine. Food is so tasteless. Chicken curry just have chilli powder in it. No flavours at all. You can hardly find a piece of chicken in their chicken koththu. Only good thing was the fish patis. But now that is also have only potatoes in it.

First visit to Gana Restaurant and definitely wont be the last. Service was excellent delivered by Mohinda. Attentive and recommended dishes. Food tasty and reasonably priced. Only downside is we are stuffed!!!! Definitely a place to revisit again and again!

Waste of Money! Don’t try this place, this is what I got for rice and curry- frozen beans (not even cooked fully)- some sambar with potato- regular dhal- frozen old smelly fish with a quick cookPaid £5.50 which is not worth for me comparing all other Srilankan restaurants. It would have been much better if the shop staff told me the food is over so I would have tried something else.I don’t expect to visit this place again.NB: after eating few spoons we decided to bin it.

Been there after years today, it was an amazing experience. Big improvement on the food taste. They listen to your requirements. Customer service was outstanding. I will definitely recommend this restaurant as it’s very presentable and Hygienic.

Favorite restaurant for family night outs and take away

Not great service. Customer that arrived after me was served first. Paid for 5 mutton rolls and recieved 4 in the bag. On a plus side the mutton roll was good.

Ghana express gets one star for only customer service. The food was very bad, had no flavour or taste. The ingredients for veg kothu were only rotti, chillies, onions and soya meat could have just made it at home. And chicken kothu was just bland and had 1/3 of it and threw out the rest. NEVER AGAIN.

Worth a try, food is nice enough and good choices. Kottu was good. Fish was very bad as its frozen and tastes very very frozen.The interior could do with modernising a bit too.

Given the COVID situation, I ordered food from Gana Restaurant this week. I would say I am impressed with food and taste.Hot Butter Cuttlefish was outstanding, yummy crispy and spicy (Must try) Also they have a huge spread of india dishes like iddiappam, Lamb korma and lot more (made me feel at home)Sea foods are Best! Give it a try.

Bought a Mixed kothu today along with other things.Worst kothu Ive had in my life. Almost as if chef wanted me dead. Full of green chillies, No meat,chicken or fish at all. Im from sri lanka so Im used to green chillies but this kothu had probably 20 of them cut into small pieces that it was impossible to even separate. Usually I pre order for collection but today walked into order and decided never to go there again. Really bad. GANA just lost a customer for good.

When you walk into a restaurant and the vast majority of the dinners are Sri lankan...then it must be good. We were not disappointed.Food was spicier than expected, which I think they should have warned us about, but it wasnt inedible.The food was very tasty and would definitely go back again.

Ordered a Korma delivery which tasted like a vindaloo but was told their korma is spicy. But after firmly complaining that this wasn’t a korma the delivered another which in fairness was much better.

I like to go with friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I visit this place often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are fantastic and the crew is welcoming and cooperative. always when we go to this place we enjoy a pleasing evening. I warmly recommend this restaurant.

Very good food and value for the money

Really terrible service! Went last week and customer service terrible. They overcharge food and the quality of food isnt as good as it used to be. They served me and my family with broken, paper plates which is the most cheapest thing Ive ever seen a restaurant do considering the price Im paying for the food. Id like all other people to know about this so they can avoid wasting their money on a restaurant which doesnt provide you with quality food and service for the customer.

Great little restaurant with quality Sri Lankan classics. We had the Egg Kothu Roti and Uppams - the food was hot, well seasoned and nicely portioned. Try the Jaggery Uppam - decliously sweet with coconut cream.

Had our party their today. Lovely venue+food. Staff was good. Over all enjoyed my time. Parking was issue other than that it was fantastic 🤓 and yeah music for all music lovers in our party today,bit of disappointment..it wasnt that entertaining 🤣🤣🤣 but again it wasnt a issue. It was good.

Wow it’s authentic South Indian. I love the freshly hand made parotta and venison fry. Love it. I highly recommend this shop. It’s close to Harrow underground. If you love the typical spicy South Indian then it’s the place you have to be in.

I & several work colleagues ate there this lunch time. Excellent food & great customer service by the manager. We will be eating there again!

We ordered 5 dishes worth 30 pounds from here a lavish Saturday dinner. It was such a disaster. We could even eat a single item. Horrible food. Have had much better Sri lankan food. Will not recommend at all!!! Bad food and a waste of money.

Hard one this review, its on and off. Food is good but it takes ages to deliver even when the restaurant is empty, prices are decent but they got our order wrong.....twice. We got fed up and cancelled part of the order. Food is quite spicy if that matters to you. Lastly it would be great if they spent a some effort making the place look somewhat present to eat at, the interior needs an overhaul.

Actually this plac is OK. It is not worth the money. And starters all come very late and cold. Even if the food came on time, there is no proper presentation rule for food. The place itself is a good place to be in as it is all clean and mess free. The area is very colourful and is a good place to go out with friends

Gana 🇬🇭 is an awesome restaurant, which has cleanliness issues combined with freshness of ingredients in question at few times. Itshould have customer, service which needs to be tailor gated to the individual needs, and requirements, with the unusual theology of pre judging them with utmost believe that they will be bringing their own taste buds, to uphold tethering, which will be their sole focus.The restaurant has gone on the path, like many other genuine restaurants questioning of whether or not it is truly what something it is said to be, authentic. As loyal customers, we do need to leave a positive and a lasting impression of the restaurant in the hope of saving it, through longer out, lookout through the thick and the thin and perhaps still find a guide plan, towards where it once was (The Great Gana) , and what might have made the Gana once the spiciest dream, orientated from Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 pearls.

Fantastic local gem. It is always packed for a reason. Only issue is its a bit loud as all the tables are very close to eachother and gets fairly rowdy in the evenings.

Amazing authentic food, at such low cost, really friendly staff, the menu is a little intimidating if dont know the cuisine but the wait staff are really helpful! Definitely a must!

Dined for the first time today! No one was there to welcome so we helped ourselves to find sears after waiting for a while. Although the food was tasty, but took a while to be served. Good hospitality, well done! Female waitresses were so moody and unfriendly particularly the tall one. Slightly pricy too.

Price wise this place was phenomenal value. The food was ok. I liked the paneer and the mogo. Everything else was ok. I found their roti really tough. I was expecting softer.The restaurant takes american Express which ended meaning I paid double. This was very annoying.The bill was 8 each and we were very full. In my case I paid 16!

Quite unhygienic and a little unclean. Food is quite tasty but it is quite spicy and ay not be suitable for those who are not used to spicy food.overall it is okay who are used to the South Indian and Sri Lankan diet or taste. A lot of room to improve and if you do want good quality then this is not the place.👍👎🤷🏽‍♀️😀

Lovely food...the crab was simply delicious and the other srilankan items were too. Simply hogge on like never eaten since past few days. Good food...good service and they also have srilanka beers...arack the srilankan authentic drink was missing though... recommended!
