4In 1969, Swami Shri Vishnu Tirtha Ji Maharajs Guru Shri Yoganand Vigyanji used to reside in Rishikesh. Swami Vishnu Tirtha was also very fond of Rishikesh. In the last years of his life, he expressed his desire to build an ashram in Rishikesh with his disciples. His dear disciple Swami Shivam ji took the initiative to fulfill his wish. Mr. Devendra Vigyanji had some land lying in Rishikesh. He donated the land to Swami Vishnu Tirth Ji. After getting the land, in 1959 Shivomji started the construction work of the ashram. Within a short time, the ashram was ready. Swami Vishnu Tirth Ji lived in this ashram for four years. Then after Swamijis Mahasamadhi, Shivam ji took over the reins of the ashram. Swami Shivom Tirtha Ji Maharaj was a great guru in himself. He also established several other ashrams, the main ones being the ashrams of Dewas and New York.In 1986, Shivamji called HH Sri Govindanand Tirtha Ji Maharaj from district Amba, Madhya Pradesh to Rishikesh to operate the ashram. Shivom ji went to Dewas by handing over the work of ashram over him. In 1988, Shivomji again came to Rishikesh and he gave Govindanand ji the operations of the ashram completely and gave Gurupad. After that Swami Shivomji never came to Rishikesh. On 6 April 2008, after Shivamjis Mahasamadhi, his body was brought to the Yoga Sri Peeth Ashram, Rishikesh. After keeping the disciples for some time, they were immersed in the holy Ganges River.Currently, Param Pujya Swami Govindanand Tirtha Ji Maharaj is operating the Ashram. Swami ji has made great progress under the umbrella. Along with the land found in the beginning, more land has also been purchased. A number of rooms have also been constructed for the stay of seekers in the ashram.Climbing the steps of the ashram by road, the person reaches the entrance of the ashram, the entrance is open from 5 am to 9 pm. The entrance opens into the courtyard, beautiful velvet grass and aromatic flowers bloom in the courtyard, the river Ganges is visible from the courtyard. The flowing water of the river Ganges yesterday provides a very panoramic view. No visitor lives without this view. Geeta Bhawan and Swargashram are seen on the other side of the river Ganges. There is a high hill behind them, due to which the clouds always rise. The scene is so captivating that even if you keep staring at it for hours, it does not fill your mind.On entering from the entrance, a path leads directly to the courtyard behind the ashram. On the right side of this road there is a grand temple and on the left side there are living rooms of visitors. The ashram has about 20 rooms and 3 large halls. There is a arrangement for about one hundred people staying together. The beautiful courtyard in the center of the ashram is decorated with flowers. Vegetables are also grown on this place,There is a big platform in the center of Ashram. On one side of this platform is the kitchen and on the other side is the Gurukaksha, the residence of the present Guru Swami Govindanand Tirtha Ji Maharaj of the Gurukksh Ashram. In this, their sleeping room, worship room etc. are built. On the other side of the master room is the instrument room, the atmosphere of the instrument room remains surprisingly quiet. The seeker performs the instrument while sitting in this room. In the instrument room there are photographs of all the gurus of the Tirtha tradition, the sculpted statue of Swami Shri Vishnu Tirthji Maharaj, which is situated in the middle of the worship hall of the instrument room, looks absolutely alive. Adi Guru Shankaracharyas temple is near the courtyard containing vegetables.
