Fantastic little cinema for the quirky films, love that you can bring your beer in, the staff on duty was very polite and friendly, watched a pebble and a boy here. sound quality was good and overall comfort was good too. would recommend this place no problem.
Terrific little venue, with warm, welcoming staff. Ill be looking out for excuses to go again. The only reasons for not giving top marks are two minor issues in relation to late/all night events: the seats (comfy though they are) have no head rests, and there is no coffee sold on the premises.
Fantastic little independent cinema - if you want to see a film in Birmingham check if its on here first! Great value and place to have a beer and watch a film
Straight 10 just for customer service, delivered some food here to staff & the staff member was really friendly and polite
Cool little independent cinema/cafe in the heart of Birmingham. Clean and pleasant atmosphere inside. I had a screening of my film here and it was great to have the support of the owners who were willing to take a chance on an unknown film as part of their horror season (which also showed will known horror films).Id happily recommend The Mockingbird Cinema to folks who want to see a film in a more intimate, independent setting.
A fantastic intimate cinema, comfy seats, great sound!
We went there 2 years ago to see Wild Rose film about a country singer, We had a lovely lunch in the Kitchen before the matinee performance. Its a fabulous cinema facility, small and intimate, hope to see it reopen after lockdown, please support it.
Simply the best cinema in Birmingham. I absolutely love MB and cant wait for them to reopen. The food & drink is always on point, the film selection is unbeatable, and the prices are a bargain.
A fantastic little cinema that hosts quiz nights as well! One of our favourite places in the world! :-)
Brums best cinema!
Great night out, good food & great 2drink good beer whilst watching class films
A fab little independent cinema. They show an interesting selection of films (not just blockbusters), with extremely reasonable ticket prices
Great place to watch films, have a drink and a bite to eat, really friendly
We went to the cafe with our dogs at the weekend and its totally wheelchair accessible with a good accessible toilet too. We thought wed have to sit outside but the dogs were welcomed in, which was lovely (especially as it was really cold outside). The coffee was delicious and staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.
Ive been to the Mockingbird 75 times and loved 72 of them. I dont remember the other 3 due to tequila but have been reliably informed I tried to dance like Michael Jackson and had a good time, so for me its 75/75, which is 5 stars. Food, drink and staff are all friendly, wet and delicious but not necessarily in that order.
Really enjoyed watching spider man far from home here, and ate on another occasion which also was a very good experience.I had a first date here and can truthfully say both of us enjoyed it very much, the simplicity of going to the cinema is overcome by the exclusivity of the place.Overall amazing experience and 100% will be back again.
I love the Mockingbird, but you have to understand what youre getting here. This isnt an all singing all dancing flashy cinema. This is small scale, personal in approach. Its a difficult one to describe. Great for a date night, as its so quirky and in the heart of the Custard Factory, there will be plenty to talk about and enjoy, and the smaller cinema screen size makes everything feel a little more personal, like its all been set up just for you.See whats on and go take a look for yourself.
So today we’ve booked tickets for the cinema and the craft market travelling from Warwick. Went to the Mockingbird Kitchen for lunch around 12.30. Can’t offer food because we are changing the oil?????? Why would you leave the oil change until Sunday lunchtime when the Custard Factory is so busy? What sort of business plan is that? Well they have shot themselves in the foot because we found the Crown pub around the corner which was brilliant so will go there again 👍
Beer and films. Perfect combination! Good variety of drinks and food. Nice place and plenty to do in the surrounding custard factory.
Single screen cinema with a casual restaurant as an added bonus. Prices for cinema are half the price of the big multi screen places. Restaurant has a small menu focusing on chicken and burgers. Food is delicious and well presented at a reasonable price. Staff friendly and approachable. Worth a visit just for the food
Yesterday me and my wife came here to see the matrix trilogy. Altho we are not big fans of the matrix but we thought it was a good idea to do something different. It was our first time to visit this cinema, we loved it.The place wasnt very big but it has a feeling like we were at home watching with friends and family. It felt cozy.Definitely coming back.
It hasnt the biggest screen, the loudest speakers or the latest 8K 4d cinema system but what it lacks in technology it more than makes up in filmic heart. Its a small cinema where like minded film fans can mingle with one another and watch, not only the latest films but many a classic from whatever era you grew up in.Ive just seen original (and superior) Jurassic Park and further to this we even shared a joke about said movie with the bar man (this is the kind of place this is, and I love it!).Its nestled in the heart of digbeth among with other eclectic locations. Well worth it!
Great place. Visit the cinema quite regularly, good selection of films with smaller releases. Have attended some brilliant special cinema events too.Staff are always friendly. Nice food too!
Loved it. I was extremely and very nervous with it being my first time there. Very friendly and welcoming group of people. Looking forward to the next one
I loved this place! It was really quirky place to visit. I love the fact that they do the sing-a-long performances. We saw the greatest showman there and took the children and they loved it.The snacks and drinks werent cheap but then again they never at any cinema. Saying that though the ticket prices for the shows were rather reasonable.I very much plan to go back for the bottomless prosecco brunch and a sing a long show.
Great independent cinema. Friendly and comfy. Amazing value! £5.95 or £2.95 depending on the film. Food and drink available. Decent size screen and a nice combination of more independent and blockbuster films from the present and the past.
My son treated me to a bubbly brunch and a showing of notting hill. Great food and lovely little cinema. Loved loved loved it.
Great little cinema. Very cheap ticket prices and good food, also has a bunch of bars and restaurants near by if you wanted something different. Much better than going to Cineworld!
Really great movie experience. Went here a few years ago and the projection quality has improved massively :)
Its an old style cinema with mono sound quality but you can enjoy a nice pint or a glass of your choosing whilst watching the movie ,my wife and i enjoyed the whole experience , you can also enjoy a meal before the movie or stroll around the custard factory .i would recommend the mockingbird cinema and kitchen to friends and family ,if the sound was hifi quality it would be a five star review no doubts ..
Food was lovely, good drinks selection and decent prices. Cinema was great; love that they show a mix of new releases and older classics (we saw Oldboy and I cant recommend it enough!) Will definitely be back soon :)
Love the Mockingbird! I’ve been to a number of private screenings here now for birthdays and the like and it’s always a great outing. They also show some absolute classic films on a regular basis. Great beer selection on the bar next door which also serves good food (try the. Burger!).
Great independent cinema with friendly staff and cheap tickets. Al, was really helpful after I repeatedly cocked up my booking, changing it for me with no further booking fees or annoyance! Nachos are lovely too!
Nice cinema with good customer service... Drinks abit expensive.. Only 1 screen so limited choice but as expected.
One screen cinema and a nice restaurant both at affordable prices. Tasty food is a bonus to a good variety of films. Staff polite and friendly. Simple but nice place to end your outing.
Very cool place. Bar, eaterie and cinema. Outside seating. In the Custard factory. Good beers and food. Great. Fresh Hand made burgers with chips and salad garnish. Cater for food allergies Very friendly staff. Good place to go with friends.
It’s a little gem. Fun atmosphere, great facilities. Drinks selection perhaps a bit limited, but there was enough to make it interesting. Worth a stop in!
We had such an amazing experience at the Mockingbird Cinema. As always, we were there way earlier, but we had a nice surprise as we found that we have the chance to delight ourselves with an awesome ale before the movie. We couldnt mind the wait because the atmosphere was stunningly good. Also, its almost unbelievable that a single ticket is only 5 quids. We are looking forward for the next movie night there!
Really cosy, cool place however, its very cold in the cinema itself. Really nice staff, relaxed atmosphere.
Great atmosphere, nice little bar and a decent range of food items that you can actually take into the cinema. (As well as drinks). Cinema has latest releases plus classics. Small and clean. Ill definitely be going again.
Quirky, laid back independent cinema with cheap tickets and equally cheap popcorn and drinks! Highly recommended!
Stumbled on this place searching for a film screening and what a gem of a find! tucked away in the custard factory - lovely friendly staff, great range of drinks at bar and popcorn was actually a large portion! a steal at tickets for a fiver! were so friendly at cinema reception to my kids too so will definitely come again!
Great night watching All Is Lost with live soundtrack from Animat. Slight problem with the timings but the fab cookie dough helped pass the time! And some free popcorn offered as a consolation. Top customer service. Vue & Odeon & Cineworld not even close for the experience.
Love this place. Intimate little cinema with great staff. Price of admission is a bargain and a good variety of films. Deserves more love! Well worth a visit.
I love this wee place! Its a great little place for a drink/food and the cinema is small and cosy. Sometimes it can be a little chaotic but its part of its charm. They show great films that you can usually only see on DVD now. A great place!!
Great place to visit. Nice bar, comfy cinema and they put on lots of fun, quirky events like brunches and themed quizes
Shows films where everywhere else is to scared or smart enough to show. Great opportunitys also.
Fantastic place! Love their cinema and their bar. Their location is great if you want to chill and relax with friends or by yourself. Their food tastes good and their selection of drinks is OK. I really like their location.
Generally a good experience in e sense that it is more private than what you get in the big cinemas. Reminded me of the older generation of cinemas. Price is lower that elsewhere too. The bar outside is friendly and reasonably priced.
Great film selection for half the price of chain cinemas. decent beers on offer too
Great little cinema in a really cool setting. If youre a fan of graffiti theres loads of it around here too.
Cinema is really good and the atmosphere is really good it is definitely worth a visit especially for a date night. Bar staff were really bad though serve food without cutlery or napkins dont clean tables.
Great little cinema with a resident bar/food place. I was quite surprised to find this little gem online with some really cheap movie tickets for new releases. Now for the drinks, there is a good selection of alchoholic and none ones, but I have not tried the food so I cannot comment. The front house guy for the cinema was very friendly, props to him!
Very cool, incredibly comfortable and relaxed local independent cinema. Friendly atmosphere from staff and clientèle alike. Food is amazing and tickets a reasonable price - love this place! Keep an eye out for the special events
Brilliant one screen independent cinema. The staff were lovely and there was a nice relaxed environment. Will definitely return.
Good food and a great place to go for a film and a meal. However the cinema itself is not the best quality in both picture and comfort. Overall good experience food and film always a winner.
Nice beer. Not a huge choice of vegetarian food. Great music, eclectic selection. Nice atmosphere.
Fantastic environment. Reminiscent of movie theatre experiences as a child in the 70s.I couldve easily spent all night watching movies, eating good food and drinking.
Great selection of beer and wine. Really nice location. Cinema was comfy and had great sound. Staff very friendly.
Great food & bar! Not overcrowded and its fantastic they have a cinema to go with it! Staff are very nice and cheerful. Definitely recommended.
The quality of comedians was very good and I enjoyed myself very much. The Venue is nice and intimate and provides a very good setting & relaxed atmosphere to enable the comedians to shine to feel comfortable
This is our first visit to the cinema we had something to eat and drink and watched a movie. Really enjoyed the food staff really welcoming and friendly .
Thrills for young children to roam about as the classic Aladdin was shown. Value for the ticket price ! Look forward to the up and coming shows this summer .
Brilliant place. Food is always great and an always a friendly atmosphere. Would say the friendliest place in the UK
Its a lovely little niche venue however be aware if youre tall to get an aisle seat. Im only 53 and struggled. Audience can at times be inappropriate due to bar licence but staff keep a keen eye on it.They do regular deals which are slightly cheaper than competitors student prices which is awesome. They do however need to make it clear on the online booking when to input the CEA card.
Decent cinema and bar. They have a good range of bottled beers as well as ales and lagers on tap. Similarly, they have a decent range on the menu, and they regularly do themed specials based on the films theyre screening. As well as showing the usual blockbuster films, they also show interesting and indie/alternative/classic/cult films, sometimes on special offers, such as free screenings or discounted ticketa. They also host stand up comics and other different shows, so there is always something different to see.Its situated right in the centre of the Custard Factory, reasonably priced for the city centre, and a short walk from Digbeth Coach Station, the Bullring, New St Station and Moor St Station.Ive had many good nights there and have been going there since they opened. Worth visiting!
Great cinema. Best thing about it is that they actually embody independent- they put on a good amount of repertory screenings and show smaller releases that you cant see anywhere else in Birmingham. The staff are lovely and the bars cosy and serves great beers, although its decorated in the 201Xs imagination deficit bare bulbs bare bricks style.
Good bits: This place is supercool. Very trendy, great music, nice staff and it was Sunday evening, nice & quiet so we got good service. Some nice food options & tasted good. Its limited but its not a restaurant as such so I wouldnt fault them on it.Bad bits: It does say food served until 9pm however they stopped much earlier than this which I noticed annoyed some people who waited until after the film to eat. The toilets were absolutely disgusting as they have been on previous visits. Really dirty, doors dont function properly. The loo was stuffed with tissue & didnt flush so it was full of the last persons business. There was nobody monitoring the cinema either so anyone could just walk in. Its a real shame its let go like that as it has loads of potential.
Technically, the screen size at Mockingbird doesnt compare to the cinema chains and the seats are a throwback, but that is reflected in the very low ticket price and you will get the chance to see films that cinema chains would never show.
Proper nice place. Good bar and comfy seats in the cinema. Will be going back again soon.
Great independent cinema, good prices and friendly staff.
Quirky place and seems like a great venue - had diabolical coffee here however. A Flat White in a latte glass and a Cappucino that I cant really describe. Hopefully it was just a bad day, Ill be back to try the food and see a film.
We love any reason to visit Digbeth! You are one of those reasons! Come early for food, which is pretty awesome and grab a film. Great independent venue x
Enjoyed a lot here. Cheapest and approx 1-2 month old movie we can watch there.
Cute little cinema with comfy seating, and a range of fancy drinks available at the bar. It may be small but the screen and sound were quality, Ill be checking the listings for an excuse to go back.
Really old skool and cute, nice friendly staff.Perfect if youre looking for something a little less commercial
Concept is good, shame about the other people that think its OK to come in 20 minutes late, sit for 5 minutes before deciding they need the toilet. Then come back and decide they need to go out again for a drink. All this involving 10 others having to file out of their seats to make way.
Fabulous cinema had a great mothers day afternoon. Very relaxed venue, the team are really personable.
Quaint little cinema tucked away... clean tidy, friendly. Next time Ill try the food too. Looked good... none of this big cinema rubbish !
A great space and an important part of April’s flatpack festival. Nice selection of beers and the foods pretty good for quick eats
Wonderful staff and food. I might be a bit biased here, but they do a lot for independent films and cinema culture here in Birmingham, which I think is more than worth justifying coming here.
Films are priced how they should be. The food is great and you can bring it in to the cinema. The staff are also really friendly.
It a small intimate cinema,I watched a john wick marathon there I really enjoyed it, theres a bar and you can get hot food
Good value; sound and picture quality good, seats comfortable. Good selection of craft beers in the bar. Friendly staff.... all good!
Great small little cinema. Has a bar which serves food attached to it. Good selection of beer and quality off food is great!
Fabulous little cinema base in the Custard Factory. Keep and eye out for events happening as they have some really quirky ideas - perfect for an alternative night out.
I had an amazing birthday there recently on the 3rd of Feb, really friendly and approachable staff and I had seen a horror movie marathon that was on and to be fair I am not one for old movies, but they were really good and funny, thank you.
WOW £5 for a cinema ticket £9 for a delicious home made beef burger with blue cheese and pickles, chips coleslaw and a drink !! The restaurant has character and the staff have charm. A delightful venue second to none in Digbeth Birmingham will definitely be going back.
What a little jem. Great menu, very friendly staff, can not fault the place. Really enjoyed being in a smaller cinema. Must be about 50-60 seats. Will defiantly being going back for more.
Great venue, excellent to have an independent cinema thriving so close to the city
Love this cinema. Cheap screenings and great events to see things that you wont get in regular cinemas.
Several vegan and other special dietary food options. Very good quality food and good selection of drinks including craft and various foreign beers. Highly recommend stopping here for food/drink before catching a show. Mind the serving times for food though.
